It took 217 days for GTAIV to come to PC, it is now over 200 days since GTAV came out

GTAIV was released on 29th April 2008 for 360/PS3 and came out on PC on 2nd December 2008, that's 217 days.

GTAV was released on 17th September 2013 on 360/PS3, it is now 201 days with no news, most certainly we will not have the game before the 217 days timeframe the previous game did.

There are signs that a PC version is coming, but as the way things are looking it might be waiting for next-gen console version to done before Rockstar releases it...

Or it could end up being like RDR...

Thoughts?

I'm not sure what the holdup is either, but GTA V is a way different game than IV and it is substantially larger than IV, so that might be a factor in the longer port job.

I hope Rockstar is instead devoting most of its effort and time to a this-gen Bully, Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead, or a new franchise.

I figured it would have been out on PC by March. Now I'm thinking there actually are PS4/XBO versions coming out and will launch with the PC version this summer or maybe even in the fall.

I think the generational transition may have made things more complicated than last time. If there is a PC version it'll be alongside a XBO/PS4 version, and if there are three new versions they'd want time to polish them.

PC version will probably come out alongside the next gen versions. R* are waiting for for the installed base to grow.

My guess:
- summer 14 SP DLC release
- fall 14 next gen announcement
- spring 15 next gen release

Exactly what you wanted to hear, right?

I agree, the XBO/PS4 release may have thrown a wrench in Rockstar's standard plans.

I wouldn't mind a simultaneous release with the current-gen consoles that includes all of the DLC.

No complaints here.

Thuway said on Twitter that PS4 owners will be able to play GTA V before E3. Which means the PC version will be out when the PS4 version is.

They'll wait even longer to ensure more people double dip. I'd expect a PC release in the fall season this year alongside a PS4/XB1 release.

The DLC will coincide with the next-gen/PC version imo.

That's what I think too. Will be released alongside the PS4/One versions.

I really hope the PC/next-gen versions will come with the DLCs as a "complete edition". That would make double-dipping way easier for me...

I think around the second week of May we're going to get a PC trailer. Although they never show at E3, I think they're going to bring the hype right before it!

I've got faith it's coming to the PC. It's a dream!

GTAIV also runs like ass on a 7970. I'll take a longer wait for a better port.

GTAIV is considered to be one of the worst ports of all time, optimization is horrible.

We have mid-range systems that literally put the PS4 to shame, yet GTAIV brings even high-end systems down to a crawl.

Wait for the next gen versions and stop being so obsessive, jesus christ. It will come at some point this year.

next gen version etc etc

we know it's coming. there's no real doubt considering it was found in amd driver profiles and some pretty clear tweets from a rockstar staffer effectively saying "when it's ready"

I look forward to revisting the game when I have a graphene-based Intel CPU. :p

Also, the PC port of GTAIV is one of the worst ports I've ever played. If they need more time, I'm happy that they're taking it.

Still waiting and I'm still confident that it's coming. I'm very much looking forward to playing it but I've given up keeping close tabs on leaks and rumors. It'll come when it comes.

Keeping my fingers crossed that Rockstar goes back and does a PC/Current-gen port of RDR to drum up interest in a sequel.

I really don't care anymore. They could at least tell us will it come or not. Simple "Yes we are working hard to bring GTA V experience on PC/next-gen some time this year." would be enough but no R* is silent.

If the Last of Us rumors are true it will be announced and then almost immediately released so I can almost believe this.

Yeah, there's no need for much in the way of a pre-launch marketing campaign for a belated port, especially when the game in question has already sold millions.

The inevitable PC version is what I've been holding out for in getting GTAV. I know it's coming, but I'm getting pretty impatient. Especially since the console versions as $40 now.

I thought because of how it was developed a PC port would be impossible. Something about messy code.

I'd love a PC port, BTW.

All of the trailers they put out have been the PC version :p

Hopefully it's a better port than GTA4. How does a game released so recently not have an AA option in-game? Doesn't even look that great at max settings unmodded and runs so erratically.

It doesn't seem believable that it hasn't been complete for months now.

So they must be waiting for something. Maybe the PS4/Xbone versions.

Or maybe they are just doing it to piss me off.

No way the PS4 version is out by June this year.

That has been the ongoing theory. Though an x86/x64 port to PC and current-gen consoles could be the monetary motivation Rockstar needs to justify the investment.

Or maybe they are just doing it to piss me off.

They inundate their games with garbage DRM, give us the worst ports possible, and make us wait for months.

If anything, Rockstar are, either, full of massive trolls or are completely disgusted by the PC platform....with the third possibility being both.

Well, they have 32 million reasons not to launch the, unavoidable, PC/X1/PS4 port this year. I know it sucks, but I don't blame them.

Yes, I completely agree with everything you said.
