Nintendo Direct : Tomodachi Collection confirmed for Europe/na

I was going to say something via Twitter but maybe I'll email them. It's actually a big deal to me if they completely leave out the option and I'll definitely be rethinking my support of Nintendo in the future if they don't include it.

Maybe it'll be in the sequel if we make enough noise about it. I can't imagine it would be something that would come up organically at the Japanese side (gay rights not being much of a thing in Japan).

On the other hand, they are going to get a ton of negative attention from conservative religious people if they do include it. 'Family friendly image tarnished' and all.

After rewatching this I'm impressed by the sheer amount of Nintendo fanservice this game appears to offer. In addition to the obvious Virtual Boy, and Nintendo-themed outfits, I spotted ROB, a Playchoice-10 Arcade Cabinet, Super Scopes, NES promo posters a Nintendo World Championships gold cartridge, shelves of Famicom games, and more.

Really cool stuff going on here!

Iv'e already read various members here that the japanese game had same sex relationships, and that the patch only took out pregnancy as it bugged the game.

It's a possibilty the western localisation took them out, but that's more programming and they have probably leave it like the original.

I was under the impression that same sex relationships were in the Japanese version, but there was a bug involving males getting pregnant and corrupting save files that needed correcting and the gaming media jumped on it as Nintendo hating same sex marriage or something.

No there is no same-sex relationships in the Japanese version, and for some reason I seriously doubt they will go out of their way to add it/patch it for the western release.

I feel like I have no choice but to get this game just to watch all the crazy stuff my friends' and family's Miis get up to.

LOL, the video made me laugh quite a few times.

I have no clue what this game is, but it seems like one of those goofy things you have to try at least once.

I remembered that Nintendo did something like that but I forgot it was for this game. Being gay is a pain in the ass. It would be so much easier to be straight and to not even notice this stuff.

Oh well, next life I suppose :)

You can have a gay relationship, that is misreporting, the glitch was that gay couples could get pregnant, nintendo just patched that out

Do you have the game? The bug was that same sex couples could get married, which in turn automatically led to pregnancy.

Why wouldn't you be able to? Almost every 3ds game has a Miiverse.
Also I read a few pages back I think that you can share to twitter/facebook/tumblr from the game itself or something
Trinen told us that Tomodachi Life already supports Nintendo’s Image Share tool, but the developers have gone a step further. They’ve included a link that will automatically launch the service into the game itself. So players will be able to quickly share screenshots using this tool.
SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEIT

It would be cool if the game recorded you saying a few sentences and then simulated the gibberish to use your own voice for your Mii.

Well that was.... surreal. Thought the game was just light Mii interactions and not overly dramatic.

Gay Agenda option or bust. That island is begging for a Fire Island replication.

For all of the shit that Nintendo get, this video shows why they need to stick around. Their console might not be selling but they're a force for originality in an industry beset by stagnant ideas. Despite them being accused of over saturating their key brands, they still have a more varied and original overall set of products than most other publishers.

They could just quietly add it in to avoid controversy. I mean, the game allows you to marry family members, and you don't see people complaining about that.

I'm really concerned about whether or not same sex relationships will be supported in the localized version of this game, so I sent an email to Nintendo about it... I'm not expecting an actual response, but we'll see. If anyone's interested, here's what I sent:

I know there are many other people out there who feel the same as I do about this, and I encourage you to speak up about it in any way possible. If it's not something that has been added to the localization, there's still hope that it can be patched in later.

Thanks for doing this. I mentioned something on their facebook post.

You know, I'm not sure this holds water these days. I could see a larger outcry if same sex stuff isn't supported. Maybe it's this liberal city bubble I'm living in. If they went as far as it seems they did to localize it why not update some of the core mechanics? If it was a thing that could happen as a glitch in the original then it can't be that hard to change. The same sex stuff has been in The Sims forever and I sure don't hear anyone boycotting it.

Honestly I'll be much less inclined to pick it up if this isn't supported. If they do go the inclusive route I think sales and general love for the company would be returned ten-fold. Fingers crossed for now.

so whats the actual gameplay? do you have direct/indirect control over them ala sims, or is this just pretty much a screensaver?
You can give them items and stuff and suggest things to them. For example if a character is wondering about asking someone out you can tell them to do it or not to. You don't have direct control over them.

This conflicts what some other members are saying in this thread. Someone clarify.

You can be as gay as you want but you won´t get pregnant anymore - that´s being patched by Nintendo. Kotaku went crazy for a snarky headline and got it wrong. Other journos copy and pasted it without checking the source and here we are.

Do we know how many save files this supports? I kind of want one island of real/internet friends and then another full of different Will Smith roles.

You've had gay relationships after version 1.1? How did you do that?

This direct taught me many things:

- I need this game
- I have a weird crush on Bill Trinen
- There is something weird in the coffee in Nintendo-offices

I need this game.
