It's actually extremely good. Surpasses the original Yoshi's Island in some ways.

It's a damn retread of the first game, basically, with the biggest innovation being large eggs. Dismissed.

I actually said before that I thought the Xbox One had already gotten all or at least, most of the benefit that it was ever going to get from Titanfall prior to the game's release, and this likely supports that assumption. When I saw all the crazy early Xbox One sales, I thought then, and still believe now, that there's no way Titanfall wasn't factoring into that somehow.

The game's amazing, and really has the potential to be huge. I still believe that as much as I did before. But just as I also said before, a proper, epic campaign would really help put this one over the top with this kind of gameplay, making it perhaps one of the biggest franchises this gen. I think it would have to release on both systems to accomplish that, but the potential for this franchise is clear as day. That said, I wouldn't underestimate the post release staying power of this first entry. Word of mouth should be very good to this game.

All that said, I still firmly believe people are way exaggerating the doom and gloom over the xbox one. I don't see anything that Microsoft should be overly concerned about, nothing at all. The thing is, so far, easily beating the 360 at the same point in time, and not doing so by a small margin. Does that fact make the 360 a failure? Of course not. The Xbox One is being outsold by the cheaper PS4 that's available in twice as many countries. I don't see the shame in that. Now, maybe if the 360 was outpacing the Xbox One overall, people would have an argument to make, but since when has 311k in the month of march been terrible? You guys are crazy. :)

The word of mouth has been that the game gets old fast. I don't expect it to have legs at all.

The reason behind it is simpler than many people seem to realize.

Sony stuck by their gun as the have been hell bent on pushing gaming on the same curve they have always been doing, at the same time, all other manufacturers were busy trying too hard to find some undiscovered goldmines all for themselves.

Nintendo thought they had the next big thing with the tablet/traditional controller mixture, whereas Microsoft thought their gain would substantially increase if they merge gaming with the more common and traditional mediums. Sony was actually the only one who stayed on their normal path pushing and focusing the area in which most console gamers care about.

I firmly believe the massive success of Wii/DS and the subsequent rise of casual market from Facebook and Smartphones deluded a lot of top executives. Everyone seemed too focused on an easy cash-in from a new untapped market, they started focusing less and less on the better defined console gaming market. Sony, I believe is the only who has been consistent in their vision of delivering high-end games, which although sort of backfired during the early years of last generation, it has been one of the biggest factors on putting Sony where they are right now in the console market.

Boy, that's a lot of mumbo jumbo when essentially Sony's "success" right now can be boiled down to 1) price point 2) basically 13 year(!) gap between reasonable Sony consoles. lot of pent up demand. Has MSFT made mistakes? Yeah. DRM, Kinect, and perhaps price point. Still, i maintain these are impressive numbers for both sony and MSFT and gamers should welcome their continued success and competition.

i should add that i was hilariously off my predictions. guess titanfall didnt move that much....

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
Never end story HD: PS3/PSV = 4/1

XBO megaton / PS4 megaton > 2/1 (Include bundle)

Somebody in another thread earlier tried to tell me that KH 2.5 to Vita makes perfect sense because the Vita sales of FFX HD were great.

LOL to you, good sir.

Everyone regretting mocking Titanfall in its own thread now as they realise it has likely sold around 2 million already in the US alone.

Steve Youngblood personally raided Mod HQ, and took hostages to activate Ben Kuchera's secret account on GAF (such an act requires several personnel and biometrics to make sure that it's not a terrorist takeover of the site).

I really can't believe the PS4 outsold the Xbone by 60k... I mean, I thought Sony would be close, maybe 20-80k behind MS. But never did I expect them to actually best Xbone sales by 60k! Everyone (or most everyone) had given the month to Titanfall/MS across the board. It was like a foregone conclusion, just by how much was what people were waiting for. It's crazy really when you think about it... Wow, great job by Sony!

2 to 1, oh really.

I expected Infamous to do better. I guess single player doesn't sell as much.

Including bundles. So nearly 300k for Titanfall likely came from bundles, that were giving the game away, and discounted from $499.

Imagine if Infamous SS was bundled with nearly every PS4 sold, even without a discount.

I think it's very presumptuous to say that the Xbone only sold 11k of the consoles before March 11th.

Edit: Or am I mistaken and it replaced the regular Xbone version even though Titanfall wasn't out yet? (Digital copy so it activated on the 11th?)

Ummm... Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD sold really well on the PS Vita compared to the PS3 in Japan. There was like 20-30k different iirc.

Digitally, in EU/US, it has also sold more copies on the Vita as per the reviews on the PSN store. It also charted in the Top 10 at number 1 for Vita Digital sales on PSN but didn't chart on PS3.

it should be selling far more than the 360 did. the Xbox brand is more established than in 2005, and the 360 had supply issues after launch.

Probably not good enough to be put in the press release by Microsoft.

If it's now the second best selling game on the console overall, which I think would put it in the general neighborhood of 1.X million copies. We know Ghosts is the top seller and my best guess for #2 would be Forza 5 or BF4, with the former having LTD of 1.3M.

5 Demo is Ground Zeroes

What's 2? Only thing I can think of is NBA 2K.

Dark Souls 2.

It's a weak comparison though.

360 was the 2nd iteration of a yet unproven brand that for what it was worth, was merely licking the boots of the one true king, PS2. Even if it was launching a year earlier, it wasn't until PS3's horrible launch outing that it was proven that the previous king had no clothes for the third dance, and the 2nd X marked the sweet spot.

It's how 80mil PS3s is 'shamefuru displaru', because of how strong the predecessors was.

It was only to be expected that XB1 would have a far stronger sales trajectory than the 360 at launch. The brand is much, much stronger now, and there's a stronger inclination towards the kinds of games and experiences aligned with said consoles.
