Hideo Kojima Will Make an “Important Announcement” Tomorrow

Phantom Pain will cost only $100. This is incredible value for money considering Phantom Pain is 200x bigger than Ground Zeroes.

I'm surprised people don't think Ground Zeroes will be included with Phantom Pain.

Not including Ground Zeroes will adversely effect your total consumer base as not everyone will have bought and played that game. Ground Zeroes is integral to the story and Konami will want to target 100% of potential consumers.

They haven't officially announced it yet as doing so would cannibalize sales of Ground Zeroes.

It's going to be a powerpoint on why we're all horrible people and should regret saying anything bad about him, right?

It's really hard to take him seriously after he declared our minds will be blown by the PS exclusive Deja vu mission (before it was announced), i don't think this "important announcement" will be important at all.

I agree with you. I will be very surprised if Ground Zeroes is not included, especially if the game gets pushed into late 2015. At the very least, it will be part of the limited or special edition.

I think it will be, but it will be relegated to a bonus menu, a la Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 in MGS3: Subsistence.

The Phantom Pain revealed as a second demo. It's an extra 10 bucks cause it'll have 1 hour more of content than Ground Zeroes and lead up to the true MGSV.

I won't say it's impossible, i actually believe it may happen, if not in regular editions then in potential limited editions.
I don't agree with the logic though. Peace Walker is (arguably) integral to GZ's story and it's not included in it. If anything it would be best (financially) for Konami to say 'if you wanna know how Snake ended up in that hospital buy GZ'

They are two separate games. Now they might come as a special bundle later after TPP's release but they are still 2 separate games. They won't include GZ with TPP. Not something KONAMI would do anyway. If you have followed the recent trend it went like this:

MGS>MGS:Integral (JAPAN only)>MGS:VR Missions
MGS2>Substance
MGS3>Subsistence

MGS: Essential Collection>MGS HD Collection>MGS HD Collection (Vita)>MGS: Legacy Collection.

KONAMI will take every opportunity available to sell more copies. Including a separate game for the sake of doing so is not an option.

If it's any consolation "Deja Vu" mission turned out to be awesome, for me at least! It wasn't just a skin like many believed. Regarding the "important" announcement, his english Twitter says there's going to be an announcement without saying it is "important". His japanese tweet when translated says it's important. I would go with the english version.

I'm betting release date or new trailer. Maybe both.

A new trailer is coming but it will be shown at E3. He didn't finish editing the new trailer. In fact, he mentioned that he came up with new ideas for his trailer while working out at the gym and that he would be testing them tomorrow (Japan time which is later today our time) so there's no way he is showing new TPP footage and it wouldn't make any sense to show something that big on a video podcast to begin with. Announcing TPP's release would only come through a trailer and E3's trailer may or may not include a release date. FYI, we already know it is coming in 2015 so forget 2014.

Because guys like JJ Abrams, Kojima, and Bioware picked up lens flare as a nod to films in the 1970s-80s
Well, they should really stop nodding and wake up already. I just watched Looper for the second time. Good movie but, them lensflares... *le sigh*.

not getting hyped for this. Kojima has let me down too many times in the past year with not-so "shocking announcements"

reveal MGO3 and redeem yourself Hideo

The Phantom Pain cancelled for PS3/X360.

TPP for PS4XB1 only.

I do hope so. I want TPP to be a true next-gen game, not a visually upgraded last-gen game. Having to take old consoles into account while developing it will only hold it back.

Let Ground Zeroes be the transitional title and allow TPP all of the benefits of the new standards.

By the time TPP comes out, "next gen" will have been out already for at least a year and a half. That's a long time to still be holding on to last gen. Save just 28 bucks a month and you're good by the time TPP comes out.

People hoping for PS3/360 cancellation = "I want my purchase justified so I don't want anyone else to get to play this thing"

Are you trolling or just being difficult?

Too late. Unless they completely dumped the Fox engine and switched to something new within the last 6 months, the visuals aren't going to change. There's no benefit to cancelling the PS360 versions.

Watch it be the Super Ultimate Legacy Collection. Remastered for next gen & including Ground Zeroes.

With a footnote being that Ground Zeroes is included in The Phantom Pain
.

Agreed, 100%.

I believe that they will include it, but in a way that doesn't piss people off. They'll probably include it as a downloadable content code, pre-order bonus -- something of that nature. The Phantom Pain is so far off that by the time it releases, Ground Zeroes will have likely sold all the copies it will have possibly sold. It only makes sense for them to package Ground Zeroes with Metal Gear Solid V.

50GB disc vs 8GB disc
8GB ram vs 512MB ram

I'm not just talking about visuals, I wouldnt expect those to change too much even if it was next-gen exclusive. That's sort of my point, that a cross-gen game's main difference will be limited to visuals. The content itself will be held back. Amount of missions, total animations, environment size, a dozen other variables.

It isn't all just about scaling the resolution and shrinking the textures. I think that there could be some major content differences just from those specs alone. Six times more space for game content, 16 times more ram for the current scene.
I think that there's a lot you could do with that if you weren't worried about making sure it could all be shrunk down to a dual layer DVD with 512mb of ram.

I know that Kojima saw The Division trailer and felt like he needed to step up his game, so here's hoping.
