- Gallery shortcut in the main menu to view screenshots/recordings, also they fixed viewing the screenshot previews so that it doesn't crash/blackscreen anymore.

So why didn't Sony fix more important things, like:

  • Getting a notification when a friend comes online (like on xbox).
  • When you get a trophy, I want to be able to see why I got it. (like on xbox).
  • I want to decide in what order my games/ apps are standing on my homescreen. And also be able to create folders for them.

Could be a big hint at MP3 playback.

Insert list from 10 other people listing ten different sets of things that are 'more important'

Things will come in time. If this was ready first, why hold it back? I doubt the guys writing a video editing app are the same ones that are writing the friends stuff, or the main OS UI.


I got a notification when a friends started a party, so maybe notifications for online will come soon? It is likely to require more network activity as friends come and go (especially now we can have lots), so maybe they are working on ways to limit that - eg favouriting friends or tagging them for status changes? I actually wouldn't want a notification each time someone comes online but I'd quite like to flag a few people and be notified when they are around.

What do you mean by this? The ps4 and xbox work the same. They give you the trophy name and you go to the trophy screen to see what it was.

I think he means that you should instantly go to the Trophy that you just unlocked when you press the PS button. Like it does on the 360 and Xbox One.

Who wait, is it posible to go to the trophy screen by holding the playstation button when a trophy pops up. Just like it is posible to do so with the xbox button on xbox?

The dimming of the DS4 light isn't dim enough, but I'll take what I can get I guess. :/

The nicest surprise for me is that the friends news feed is actually useful now because it time stamps each event.

Anyway to hide your activity in the 'What's New' section?

I don't want to be clogging up the section for my friends as I switch games a lot through play sessions.

Before this update, I'd replaced my PS4 hard drive with a 1TB Toshiba and the system would not go into standby mode. The white light would just continue to blink. Also, when turning it on, I'd get no video signal unless I started the system in safe mode each time. 1.70 finally returned my system to normal, with standby mode and waking up the system working perfectly.

That's nice. Someone should try if those 2TB hard drives work now, I remember reading that they didn't before.

it's too bad this is the last firmware update sony will ever release for the PS4

The share bug isn't fixed for me. I'm on 1.70 and the bug just cost me a final killcam on CoD:Ghosts where the enemy "stabbed" me (chest to chest, full animation and sound effect) but it had zero effect on me as if I were wearing juggernaut armor (I wasn't) and I proceeded to counter-stab him for the win. I have never experienced such blatant bullshit so I press the share button and the thumbnail is of gameplay from a map I haven't played since yesterday and the length of the clip is 6:05 even though I had been playing nonstop for over 15 minutes. The actual content of the clip in question appears to be chosen at random.

"Oh, you wanted to finally share a video? Is it this one where you and your friends are sitting in a lobby for 6 minutes? Oh wait, were you expecting a totally different clip where you're playing alone and something ridiculous happens to you? Yeah, no, sorry. We don't have that clip. And we don't care. Better luck next time (with a capture card maybe, I don't know)."

It's been like this for me since launch.

Anyway, there's a (new?) notification called "When Friends Join a Party" and I don't know if it's working correctly and it's obnoxious or if it's broken and I've accidentally been given Level 9 clearance with the NSA. So, suddenly I'm inundated with notifications saying "so_and_so_123 has joined a party". I'm not in a party. I'm just sitting at the home screen. Apparently, when my friends join other parties, I'm being notified in almost the same way that I would if they joined my party. Is this happening for anyone else?

This is new with 1.70 and can be turned off in the notification settings, yes.

Extremely disappointing if true. I completely gave up on the share feature because of this, and it's still not fixed?

The "Switch User" feature by holding the PS button is not new in 1.70, it existed in 1.62 as well.

Still cant watch video's from the PSN Store in the whats new this month section...like I am trying to watch Bound by Flame and the Evil Within trailers and the stream is like on my 56k in 2001 lol...

Oh well,no biggie,besides that all is fine...the controller light has never been a problem for me but at least theres an option now.

Oh, I turned it off immediately. I'm still confused by it. It's pretty much self-explanatory, yet I look at that notification option and ask "why?"

It's one of the main things I wanted fixed, too. It's a gamble every time I press the share button. I shouldn't feel relief whenever it works properly.

They still need to give me an option to turn off the "controller has been disconnected" notification. It's really annoying when I'm watching a movie and that pops up.
