Harmony Korine delivers once again. This movie is amazing. Visually, the film is shockingly beautiful. Starts off strong as fuck and doesn't let up. It's on Amazon Prime Instant watch, so I highly recommend you check it out if you haven't yet if you have Prime.

Has really low expectations going in and kinda blew me away. Was expecting some teeny bopper summer movie and got something more akin to Drive. Lots of issues in the movie, but a pleasant surprise

this movie is pretty great. i just wish the deal to get riff raff to play riff raff had come through. franco does ok, but the real thing would have made the movie that much more incredible

Not fantastic, but not horrible either. It just sucks that ol Selena left half way through, but what are ya gonna do.

Even as a work of science fiction the picture fails to be believable or entertaining, but that's just me.

easily in the top 1 worst movie i have ever seen in my entire life.

Boring, had no story, stupid. the only good thing about it was the hot girls..and even that couldnt make me force this movie upon someone

I felt like it was the kind of movie I had to go back and watch a second time to really get, but I didn't care enough to watch it again. Maybe I'm just bad at understanding movie plots though.

Amazing movie. I loved Franco, Korine is a genius and I see why people hate it, but it's so fucking good. Bound to split the audience, though.

Watching on Amazon Instant right now (didn't know it was on there, thanks OP).

Reminds me of spring break in Panama City Beach while I was still in school. The good ol' days.

I have a love/hate relationship with spring break culture.

I expect the movie will get much weirder as it goes.

yeah definitely. was expecting total garbage and was more like, "hm, not bad." I'm not in a hurry but I'd watch it again for sure.

Incredible movie, so good. Really captures the "not a girl, not yet a woman" paradox of growing up (which is why it's so great that later Britney Spears features so prominently). At times the girls are forceful and violent, but at other times they are very childlike in their innocence.

Even Alien is straddling the adult/child line pretty hard: at times he's basically an eight year old without supervision. (His ridiculous house full of guns and nunchucks; his feud with his only real friend).

It nails a lot of things: Spring Break, that area of Florida, what Florida can be like away from the beaches, "hood rich", the seductive power of breaking the law. Not kidding, really enjoyed it.

I don't understand how someone could possibly like this film.
I couldn't get into it. The plot was ridiculous, the characters were essentially nothing but "oh look beeeewbzzzzZzZz". It was just boring in general, what do people see in it?

And that part when spring break is repeated 5735 times in a row really slowly, that was the only highlight because I laughed so hard at how stupid it was.

.5/10

It's definitely kitsch, man. I'm not sure people actually like it in the normal sense one likes, say, Schindler's List or something (I certainly don't). But as kitsch, it's totally watchable and, as you suggest, damn funny in spots. I don't think the lady and I ever agreed on whether it's supposed to be hilarious, but we were laughing the whole way through, more or less. That makes for an enjoyable movie.

-Cut url-

I remember this being brought up in a past thread about this movie. Some good insight.

And I like it.

Edit: apparently movie Bob's blogspot sucks ass when it comes to URLs, so gooogle it.

I went in thinking it would be a cheap disposable comedy. Was pleasantly surprised. Disturbingly dark. Has a beautifully realized artistic exploration of identity and morality.

In all seriousness the only other movie released since 2000 I like as much as Spring Breakers was Mulholland Drive, which is my favorite movie ever. It's a brilliant film. And I don't mean in a kitschy way. I laughed a lot too, but it is a seriously brilliant movie. It's so good.

That does make more sense, also would explain why I didn't get it. I tried to view it with a funny note , like the girls during their party antics and francos ridiculous "white gangster" character. But it had to many darker undertones for me to find it humorous.
Idk not my sort of thing I guess.

Spriiiiiing Breaaaaaaaaak

I wouldn't go as far as "the worst film ever made." But yeah, the film was not very amusing to me (tits/ass aside, but the best of that stuff is long gone by the first third of the film). That said, it certainly does have an interesting direction visually that I did not expect from the film. However, it didn't feel cohesive with the film in the least. What's left ia a cartoonish film of several girls having the "craziest spring break evar" (with a surprisingly lengthy amount of dull downtime) portrayed in cinematography you'd expect from an indie film festival placer.

I suppose I'd call it "weird" before calling it "horrible", but that's hardly a compliment.

Just finished it. Couldn't have been better.

Exactly what I expected, which was good in this case... didn't let me down, didn't compromise on story or character.

The comments on "tits and ass" really miss the point. This was a scathing movie.

It's far from kitsch and I think that's why a lot of people were disappointed. They were expecting something totally different. That Britney Spears montage is GOAT, too.
