Is there a review thread? I haven't seen any reviews for the PS4 version today. On the fence about this game, hearing long load times and poor frame rates.

Yes, MLB 14 The Show looks better on the PlayStation 4 than it does on the PlayStation 3, but it’s not exactly an earth-shattering difference. Honestly, part of the problem is that The Show on the PS3 has always been a great-looking series. It’s kind of hard to really notice a big difference. Sure, little things will stand out, like the way uniforms realistically move and the greater variety in the models that make up the crowds, but you won’t experience that elusive next-gen wow factor.

In fact, some things look a bit wonky, especially beards. While the short, trimmed ones look fine, full beards look weird and unrealistic. It’s like someone sculpted them out of clay. Also, some of the background elements can look cheap, especially flat, low-res pictures of still cars that awkwardly move around a distant highway.

Again, I’m not saying that MLB 14 The Show is a bad-looking game. It just isn’t the photo-realistic upgrade some were hoping for.

Lets be real, not only is mlb a first party game but it does not have anything close to the massive online community as battlefield. Just because battlefield shipped broken (and still is) does not mean it's okay to excuse every game that does so as well.

Okay, how do I get back to the fielding controls where you press and hold the button for the base you want to throw at? I played my first exhibition game and tweaked about everything, turning auto off, and still the game seemed to field for itself.

Watching a HD stream on the PS4 and it looks pretty good, after skipping last years I think ill pick this up after my run today. Will be back with impressions later.

Maybe they are afraid to have things up early....after GTAV leak. lol (that or just straight up incompetence)

Then again that would defeat the purpose of having preloading as a feature

Usually its just SCEA though...was it not up in other regions either? Are baseball games even sold in other regions? :)

Got my copy from Amazon. The disc was loose in its case! Same thing happened with Infamous. I guess I should stop ordering games from there.

Timing based, although you can influence whether you want to hit the ball in the air or on the ground(at least you could in previous versions)

Just got back from GameStop. Downloading now! Dude at GameStop wasn't able to get me my preorder code for the 20 dollar in game currency bonus though dammit. He told me to call them back later today to get it. That should be a fun call. Fuckin GameStop man...

I have read a few pages of this thread and from the sound of it, MLB The Show is a huge disappoinent. Onlines busted, cars in the distance on bridges look like crap, beards look like they're made out of clay, choppy cut scenes, etc. Then you get into the actual "game" and you find it's the best, most complete, baseball experience to be had right now. Maybe ever. Can't we cut it just a little bit of slack to get some kinks ironed out? I have this game sitting at home waiting for me to play it for the first time and you all are seriously bringing me down.
Update--- I haven't tried to play online yet so I cant really speak to that, but this is an awesome game.

People just have high expectations based on the quality of previous games(and rightfully so). The game is still very good(at least form what I've seen/heard) and probably the best sports game around.

btw. only 48 hours left on my DL!

Holy shit guys. So I guess watching so many streams subconsciously lowered my graphical expectations. Since they're never sharp and always so compressed, I wasn't expecting just how razor sharp this game is. I play a lot of 2K, and while the player models look fantastic up close, you don't see that angle often. Since in baseball the player models are so much larger from gameplay angles, it's really impressive. Pixel perfect 1080p is where it's at.

Should I be concerned that my Ps4 says the download is 6gb? Canceled and retried and still says the same thing...

I haven't played the ps3 version in years so this is a nice upgrade. A fun game with some hiccups but worth it for baseball fans. I am sure next year will be a significant improvement.

My Amazon copy arrived a bit ago. Installed and dove into an exhibition.

Loving it so far. Lots of little visual flourishes that add up to make it a solid upgrade over PS3 versions. Those that aren't impressed need to revisit the stadiums in the PS3 games. The increased geometry and higher res assets make a huge difference.

One annoyance thus far - what's up with the game image not properly filling my 1080p screen? I did a quick search and couldn't find this mentioned but I'm sure I just missed it.
