Ubisoft: Watch_Dogs will run at 900p on PS4 and 792p on XB1, both at 30fps

After reading the comments on the ubisoft blog article explaining the design ethos behind WD, I'm still getting this game if it's fun and the world is dense. Really people are threatening devs over there over 180 p. Cancelling preoders over 180 p. Talking about selling their consoles over 180p. I think people need to get a grip cause the gameplay is getting really lost in the conversation. If you weren't going to buy the game anyway, why does it matter? Were you going to buy it if it was 1080 p? This is all starting to seem extremely petty. I just want the game to be intresting and fun, because I already think it looks just fine. It's not Infamous, but Infamous doesn't seem to have nearly the same amount of depth.

Black Flag was patched to 1080p about a week after release. Watchdogs might do the same.

Black Flag was a launch game and it was always promoted as being 1080p 30fps and just in the last moment they admitted that it is actually 900p before the patch.

Yes. Just a narrow corridor brawler.

Yes.... Which is why it runs and looks better than watchdogs. What's your point?
UbiSoft are lazy and un talented?

Have you not played Any of the recent AC games or Splinter Cell: blacklist on 360/PS3, those games are nothing short of a miracle considering they are multi format AND are on short dev cycles.

Ubisoft having amazing talent and an insane amount of resource.

Wouldn't be surprised if the PS4 version gets a day one 1080p patch like AssCreed. They're probably trying to lessen the damage for the Xbone version.

So PC Master Race people, curious as to how many of you are rocking this to get 1080p/60fps:

-Intel Core i7-3930K/AMD FX-9370
-Latest DirectX 11 graphics card with 2 GB Video RAM or more (Nvidia GTX 670/AMD Radeon HD 7970)

Because yeah. Not everyone has that. An i7 is recommended.

But who cares if everyone doesn't have the best hardware, the PC platform is simply capable of playing the game as it's meant to be played if the user is willing to spend the money.

My specs:

-GTX 670 2GB sli, both overclocked
-3570k @4.7ghz

So I should be good to go @1080p.

What is your point. There is still a ton of geometry being rendered here.

I'm not saying Ryse isn't impressive, but linear can shortcut all over the place. Something that looks amazing in the background might be something really ugly up close. It could have no collision(since you are walled in). There is nothing happening around or behind it that has AI focused on pathing around the world or at the player. The buildings could technically be a giant gaping hole of nothingness if you pan the camera around it, since you only see what the game lets you. Not to say Ryse is specifically doing this stuff, but there's a huge technical hurdle when the player is opened up to the world. Extends further into how much of the world is being streamed in, where a linear game can force slow walking segments or some other cinematic to hide loading, etc.

And what you mentioned does factor in too. Crytek's known for their technical mastery, and not everyone can compare to what they output. But Ubi is no slouch in what they do.

Well it was cute while it lasted. I have to be honest, I lost interest in this game like a year ago when more previews started coming out and the problem for me was not the graphics.

Great news for people who sit 8 feet back from their 32-inch sets!

I'd imagine a scary amount of PS4 owners are losing a chunk of resolution to overscan anyway or are playing on 1080i TVs!

It's all about pixel density anyway, I simulate a 1080p image by playing it on a smaller screen. That's the trick.

Watch Dogs absolutely does not look better than black flag. Not from the media we've seen anyway, unless you know more than us.

It's hard to get a firm grasp on what WD even looks like currently, but black flag only looked really good to me during storms with all the foliage moving.

They did not pull any punches on the same blog and said that ACIV was 1080p, with the caveat it was through a patch. Nothing here indicates the same thing happening.

Yes. I do understand the limitations of open world streamed games vs a more tightly focused game and compromises have to be made.

A couple of things though. From the initial E3 reveals to what I've seen recently. There does seem to be a visual downgrade.
It still looks good though.

I wonder if more time in the oven would have given them the ability to bring it up the initial E3 reveal.

There have definitely been huge downgrades from what was originally shown. Since they were one of(if not the first?) next gen showing I wonder if they just massively overestimated what the new consoles were going to be able to do. I also really wonder what the game was like back in launch when it ate a delay I'm sure they didn't want to take. Another delay on top of that when they're trying to launch a new IP would have been pretty disastrous IMO.

It may be the best that anyone can do at this point in time, Second Son gets to 1080p and but on the flip side doesn't have a day/night cycle and drops frames to do it.
The other open world game out now is Black Flag and that only just scrapes 1080p (following a patch)

It's all give and take, they do what they have to do with the techniques they have available to them right now.

The cost of Maccy D's in central London is fast approaching Burger King prices of yesteryear.

I remember when a bus fare was 40p. It's not £2.20!

Mate that's crazy.
Hour odd train away in Birmingham and you can get the same large meal for almost half the price.
I'd still sooner pay the premium for a Burger King though. They have the fries nailed.

Bus fare is a con here as well though, but I dread to think of the state on any kind of transport in London.

I agree with that.

Has anyone seen this vid. It was released today. PS4 footage.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VyJ38rwv-iQ

I have to say. It's looks pretty good. Better then I remembered it.
Compare that to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRMPiyY2-ck

The game has severely been downgraded since it's reveal, it doesn't even come close to what they initially showed and despite being a cross generation game it's not even 1080p/30fps on the new consoles?

Lol! What the fuck all of those PC fanboys think theyre doing? Ive read something thats actually pretty bad for the game reputation itself! Im more then certain, by what has already been released (imFamous SS, Killzone SF, Battlefield 4 and Rise) that they could actually make a better port, specially after that 6 months delay.

Dont you forget that Ubisoft is not really a reference for optmized PC games neither! And I cant read anywhere here a confirmation that this game is flowing nice on PC. Also, it doesnt matter the platform, this shit will not look nearly what they showed on their 1st footage, with those graphics and those rain drops and explosion effects.

Thats no good news for anyone. And those who are pretending that Watch_Dogs is nealry the maximum a console can reach are both silly or inattentive.

That was PC footage.

Specs where close or that of PS4 (I know it's BS), even so the game looks really washed out to me in it's current form and yet not native 1080p.
Not the end of the world, just saying that the course of things regarding this game is rather disappointing to me.

It's funny how XBO not hitting 1080p is due to hardware limitations. But when the PS4 is under it's due to lazy developers. 1080p is not some feature on the PS4, if it's important to a developer they will design their game with that in mind, like Infamous:SS. On multi platform games it is more difficult to optimize compared to exclusive titles designed around a single architecture.
