Quantum Break "just hit full production"

"It's a big first party title"

Is it actually first party? I recall Microsoft owning the IP, but Remedy is developing it, and Remedy is not owned by Microsoft. Wouldn't that technically make it a second party title?

First party = owns IP, owns developer
Second party = owns IP, doesn't own developer
Third party = doesn't own IP or the developer

Sorry. It just bugs me when I see that used incorrectly.
It's not being used incorrectly. First Party is any game published by the console holder. Second Party is a game that is distributed, but not funded by them. Phil Spencer gave this definition and used Dance Central as an example of a second party game on tge Major Nelson podcast.

What the hell else would Remedy have been working on since Alan Wake: American Nightmare that would have pre-occupied there time otherwise?

I really hope they have something beyond amazing facial motion capture and live-action video to make this game good.

It came out in February 2012 360, QB was announced in May 2013... between Alan Wake coming out in 2010, they were obviously developing AW:AN, prototyping and developing. People seem to forget games take years to make... they might have also built a new engine? (Not 100% sure on that) but there are plenty of things they could have been doing.

Halo 5, Forza 6 and Quantum Break. Looks like 2015 is the year I might be jumping back in.

A bit worrying that three (possibly more) of the bigger titles shown at the reveal last year were so early. With those being the first big first party exclusives we are expecting, this means nothing major until 2015.

There's Forza Horizon 2 I guess.

I'm preparing for a massive reworking of D4. Not based on anything other than the game suddenly going dark and there being no significant status updates since late February....

Seriously? Three months is "going dark"? Maybe they're just working on the game. Plenty of games go longer than that without updating the public on what's happening.

This seems like a massive leap in logic here. You go from "no significant status updates" in three months to them removing Kinect and changing the structure of the game?

It actually already had a controller mode so this is a really weird theory. I would be more inclined to believe any silence on the game is Swery being Swery.

Or adhering to the not-uncommon practice of not releasing significant info within a three month period?

Why are so many people flipping out over an offhand comment that we have no context for. If we don't see anything at all gameplay wise after the next few weeks (E3), then that's understandable.

Only Xbox One game I'm interested in really. It could take as long as it wants to come out for me though because I want the console to drop in price as much as possible beforehand. Might end up waiting for a PC release no matter what anyway I guess. (Please Remedy I beg you).

if I'm not mistaken she said it ain't coming this year. Few others including Shinobi said so as well

hahaha well it remains to be seen if The Order falls into that category also. If it's moved to next year then yeah. If not, not at all.

Of course it's not coming this year - we have 't even seen a proper gameplay segment of the game.

Wat.

Since when does Remedy make a racing game?

Since DOS? :lol

Death Rally, oh man...so much memories, so much mines in front of cars, so much Duke Nukem and now I hear the menu music in my head.

setup.exe
sound blaster 16
irq 9
fuck the police

If so, that's a pretty significant gutshot to the ONE's 2014 release window. Right now, all we have a firm knowledge of is Sunset Overdrive - with Forza Horizon 2 a very likely rumor. But beyond that? What?

It's not just three months in the typical sense. The first episode was due to be released in February and was delayed by a tweet from Spencer. We've heard nothing from the game since then, so it stands to reason that something happened in the background for the first episode to be suddenly delayed and for us to not hear or see anything from the game since then.

That is the developers 'going dark'. Much in the same way that Evo suddenly decided to delay the game and 'went dark' for months.

As for Kinect removal, that's more due to them no longer selling Kinect in any SKU. Swery has since cleared that up though and the game will apparently ship with all its kinect functionality still intact.

They had to make the xbox one look desirable.
They couldn't announce it and say "yeah, you're really going to want one of these things...in 3 years".
Same with Halo 5. They knew damn well they weren't going to hit 2014 but they said it anyway when they originally announced it.

Technically, they never announced it for 2014. They were just being extremely misleading – and they know it.

Ahh, didn't know that. It seemed like a super overreaction! But your point about Kinect not in any SKU is wrong; you mean in "every" SKU?

Still, I think that we as Gaffers and the gaming public in general are just getting way too touchy over every bit of news that comes out (or doesn't come out) in the industry. Seems like we could all benefit from stepping back a bit.

Reminds me of the leadup to the 2004 election (the last time I followed politics seriously), where every little thing a politician said reverberated so much in the echo chamber, but really didn't matter in the grand scheme of things.

Funny since there was never a "5" at the end of the Halo trailer they showed. Something that was brought up multiple times on this very forum after they showed it( speculating that it might be a spin off title of some kind), not to mention on stage it was simply referred to as "halo" ( minus the five) not to mention any interview or anytime it was brought up MS execs making a point not to call it Halo 5. and H2:A hitting this fall, possibly with a beta.

Just sayin...

As said some times, Sam said last E3 that they went into full production [of the game].

I think they will surprise us with the date. Also Remedy is much larger now than when they worked on Alan Wake.
