It's finally happening. All my complaining is going to pay off. Now I just need Sony to patch in a pause download feature, folders and access to library when offline on the PS4 and I'm set.

Yeah, that library offline thing is weird. It's almost as if it's a remnant of always online DRM..

It's real tough speaking 3 words. I feel your pain.

It can't be that tough to understand my comment. I said "I take a lot of screenshots"

so no, it's not just speaking 3 words, it's speaking those 3 words over and over and over again to get lots of screenshots, like I do, I sometimes take 10 consecutive screens, so thats actually 30 words. Next time reread what you're replying to.

Miles is exploding

Haha yeah. Awesome news.

Miles is gonna faint.

Miles, post if you are okay!! :)

Haha, forgot about him. He has been asking this for a while.

All we need now is remote downloading and I'll be content with all of the convenient Xbox One features.

Miles. Talk to us man. You okay?

Look at his post history lol

Finally. But why will miles faint?

Screenshot feature is serious business man. It's good to finally have it confirmed it as coming.

Took you long enough :)

I actually saw the thread before I headed underground to catch my train home. I was grinning like a madman on the train. If anyone saw a guy with a blue sweatshirt, grinning like a madman, that was me.

It's definitely weird. There's really no reason for it not be accessible offline. Hopefully Sony patch it sooner rather than later.

Next time use common sense, there is now a non Kinect sku, obviously they're gonna make it so so you can take screenshots without Kinect.

Thank god. Tired of having to take a lame ass off screen picture with my phone to share photos of me playing something.

Now make it super simple and store them in onedrive with videos so they can be uploaded to the net. And like others mentioned, make a kinect short cut...like "Xbox, Photo DAT"

I am curious, will the screenshots taken be watermarked with any kind of information? Will the user's privacy be protected, or will be each and every screenshot identifiable? It opens up to many questions for me.

How's it going to work without Kinect?

It would take far too many button presses, no?

Not necessarily. Depends on how it's implemented.

They could put a camera icon next to the notification globe-icon on the dashboard so all that people would need to do is press the Xbox One home button, go up, and take the pic.

I agree with pre-loading but also HDMI pass-through when system is off. That would be the next thing I'd really like.

Wife is NOT into using Xbox for TV.

I'm doubtful that the passthrough will ever work this way. Boot to TV, sure, maybe even a locked fullscreen tv mode where all other apps are off, but my guess is that there's too much software involved to make that work in the current version of standby.

I really hope they don't even try to make it work WITH kinect. The latency on "Xbox, screenshot" is just too long. Make it button only, make it a function as part of the dvr studio as people have suggested, but making it work off a dedicated kinect commands feels like such a waste of time.

While I don't need it since I only use PNG this is great news for many who simply want to take screenshots and will make the console screenshot thread even more lively now.

Since double tapping the Xbox button with nothing snapped is currently useless, that might be the best approach.

Not sure what to do if something is snapped though (maybe only voice command will work in that situation)

It'll probably be press and hold the menu button to take a screenshot for those without Kinect.

I don't care about those peasants, give me the "Xbox, Screenshot"voice command.

Won't most moments be long gone by the time you've finished saying "Xbox, screenshot", vs the press of a button?

Although the constant updates are great, I wish Sony was this on the ball.

???

It wouldn't be any harder than saying "Xbox Snap" and saying that phrase is instant. It literally wouldn't make any sense for them not to make the function work alongside kinect voice control.

I promise you that there will be a Kinect voice command lol. Not every moment you want to screenshot will be fleeting.

Although, I'm sure there will be some controller shortcut as well.

Cool. Phil you need more options and features for the game library section. Multiple ways to view library, demos should be gone if deleted instead of remaining on the "ready to install" section. Also pin size options.

Using the select button (or whatever the hell this button is called) might be even better. I can't think of it ever in use unless browsing internet explorer.

Think about this: If it is always recording, it could potentially be smart enough to calculate when exactly you started saying the command and take the screenshot from that split second.

The Xbox already has screenshot functionality, at the moment though it's only used to send crash data back to MS.

You do it by holding the guide and it gives you an option to take screenshot

What do you mean it isnt accessible while offline? So how do you play them offline?

You can't open the library if you're offline. It says network unavailable, please check your network connection. There's no sensible reason that I can think of for not allowing access to the library when you're offline.

Check it for yourself, go offline, scroll to the last icon on the home screen (library) and select it.

I don't have a system but how do you play your games then offline?

You play them as you normally would. The games are in both the library and on the home screen as tiles.

I doubt many people ever scroll to the end of home screen to use the library, it's just a pet peeve of mine. There's no reason for it not to be accessible offline, I just don't understand why you need to be online to open it.

Bleh I completely forgot. Um Xbox Pic That?

Pic that. Hmm, I could see that working. I still think Xbox, Screenshot is perfect.

omgz micro$oft is copying sony, joking lol question if they are going to have kinectless xbones, then how do you reckon a user will be able to record gameplay, and take screenshot..? Coming out with a new controller with a button? Im not going to lie it would be pretty annoying going to the dash every time for those things

Yea but arent only recent games in the home screen as tiles? If you have a lot of games not each one will appear right?
