Tried categorizing my monstrous library so I can get through my backlog. Now I've got 5 games narrowed down and I still don't know what to play.

GAF, which should I play out of: FEZ, Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes, Serious Sam 3: Jewel of the Nile, Volgarr the Viking, or Waking Mars?

I would go with Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes, as everybody already knows alreaedy, I champion this game if I get slightest opportunity. (><)
but really, it is an original and good game.

I was casually playing today's daily challenge in Spelunky when suddenly:

Today, there is no way to get inside the black market level. Sometimes, procedural levels get annoying.

Can't speak to those other game because I never played them but Fez was surprisingly good. I played it only for the Playfire rewards but damn it was a cool little game. I even liked the acid trip ending. Fuck Phil Fish though, bitter prick. RionaaM likes him though for some reason ; ).

Waking Mars. Glorious Game.

you should work on your endurance, perhaps. These campaigns are different, you get different units, different enemies, use different strategies, you get 6 games in one and are still complaining?!

For some reason, shadowplay isn't working for me with Sine Mora at the moment... I don't know why.

Instead, I went and found a YT video of some high level play on hard mode:

This still makes no sense. :\

DmC 2013, you can buy DMC3 Dante's outfit and play the game with it.

Hmm I see I don't think I got that one though.
Might get into a giveaway if I find one.

Thank you. I'm in such a Devil May Cry mood! Totally gonna get DmC someday but may just get DMC4 soon.

I would play Volgarr till you need to relax and then play FEZ

i dunno i thought that just made pacing pretty bad cos i'm finally having lots of fun with tons of different units and defeating everyone and mastering the combat and shit and suddenly i have to start all over with only one unit type

game was fun but i wish there were like 3 campaigns instead of like 19

Don't forget that DmC works 100% with GeDoSaTo, been playing at 4k/60fps and it's been amazing. Color removal mods and turbo mod will make it even better.

Has anybody played Astebreed? Looks really awesome.

$4.83 seems fair for a game I'll never play.

my endurance must be legen *wait for it* dary, as I've played trough it 3 times on 3 different platforms. And you really want to fight the last boss, believe me, you want it. (><)
somewhat spoiler
you get to choose your hero for this fight
isn't that cute?

but but but you don't play games, how you got credit like that?
mine credit is pitiful in comparison.

Finally beat the first section in Volgarr. Feels good! But it's not counting this as a checkpoint.

volgarr_zpse5f4f47c.png

What am I doing wrong? No, going left and running through the wall of the first section (pictured below) doesn't get me back to the section pictured above.

volgarr1_zps4ba40aab.png

As you can see, the wall is solid.

Am I misunderstanding this game's checkpoint system? At the very least, I can now proudly say that the first section is a cakewalk, which is a declaration I never thought I'd be able to make!

Edit: I've read through these threads, and I'm still confused.

"Yes, each World has at least 1 mid-way checkpoint, marked by either a giant blue crystal or a Valkyrie character."

What's in that first pic? Sure looks like a giant blue crystal to me! So where's my damn checkpoint??? :p

Yeah I don't get why people think about store credit like it isn't worth anything. $30 is $30.

The vast majority of my purchasing over the past two years has been through traders. I rarely buy games elsewhere these days -- I'm making an exception here because Murdered is region-locked up the wazoo. If I didn't spend the $30 now I would've just spent it on another heavily region-locked game, plus it's not as though the games I used to earn the credit are ones I bought for that purpose.

Also the game will be 50% off in like 2 weeks what are you doing :/

What I usually do!

Pre-purchase now to gain access to the interactive Digital Strategy Map (English only).

Impulsive purchasing habits redeemed. ;)

yea like i don't think it's an endurance thing or whatever it's just poor pacing

like think deus ex or something, 2sex gives you cool new toys as you progress and the game builds and builds on them. you're always getting more options

clash of heroes just throws away your old toys every couple hours in exchange for the new ones :/

but but but you don't play games, how you got credit like that?

she just deposits it right into the account

you know I really still think that, ultimately, Spelunky is the best game ever made

if we are doing this, tetris is still better and peggle not far behind!
I dunno how you can just go and decide that one game is better than all others, how you compare games from different genres anyhow? My best games ever are 10 or even more.

you tell me this now? You know how touchy I am about pacing in games. Pacing in M&M CoH is perfectly fine. You don't like starting over, that's it. But you see, you start in another world with other hero, units and enemies, look at this like it's a new chapter (or a new game), not starting over, and I just said that your all hard work pays in the end, unless you didn't read spoiler. I can understand if you didn't.

that makes sense (><)

Peggle is fun but you get bored of it. Now, choosing between Tetris and Spelunky is impossible. Especially Tetris in Push Mode:

Push mode is a competitive play mode for two players, or one person versus a CPU controlled opponent. Both players start with a 1x1 block floating in their field, and must place Tetriminoes on that to form a base (if a Tetrimino is dropped where it won't land on anything, it will simply fall out of the screen). Whenever two or more lines are cleared simultaneously, the player's side of the pile moves down, "pushing" the opponent's side upwards (The player's side is seen on the top screen, while the bottom screen shows the opponent's side upside-down, since the bottoms of both players' piles push against each other). The goal is to push the pile down so it overlaps the opponent's danger line. Push mode features a Donkey Kong backdrop.

Why Valve didn't just reuse the install window in the first place, who knows.

Don't know if I can post this here, but I figured I might as well try.

Would anyone help me out on purchasing and trading MK9:Komplete and Injustice:Ultimate from steam (midweek madness) for any $15 purchase(s) (steam key) on GMG? I've been waiting to buy those two games on GMG, but it's like they have the same 8 games on sale for the past few weeks.

Just choose what game or games you want that add up to $15 dollars (if a coupon is available then even better for you, just get something that ends up being $15 bucks at the end) and then we can just do that good ol' steam chat trade. Got some feedback on the Sell/Buy trade. Send me a PM if interested.

I loved that challenge; it was devilish. All the Infierno stuff itself was good times, along with the Tree Tops challenge and the invisible platforming one.

The latter by the way was the hardest thing in the game for me, where most others seem to go with Tree Tops or one of the Infierno gold challenges.

Actually, I think that Tree Tops is overall harder than Chicken Throw (or whatever it's called), and I spent hours on it. But I've never ever thought I couldn't do it. Never.
Chicken Throw led me to fear despair in 50 or so tries. I hate it, I want it to die in fire or something.

Several of the the Inferno challenges are clearly based around the outfits that came with it.
You're meant to the use the soccer player costume for that specific challenge, because that makes you better at throwing stuff.

Nah. The inivisible platforming is only hard until you realize how it works, the treetops bit is definitely more demanding.

Can't remember how I approached it, but I remember using the related outfit, so it was probably it.

And yes, invisible platforms may be overwhelming for the first couple (or dozen) of minutes, but then it's just a matter of remembering where the next platform will pop up. And they're like 10 at most per area, so it's not that hard.

Still needs to pass the test of time. Let's come back, say in 10 years time and see if people are still playing Spelunky with the same enthusiasm or a new generation has picked it up.

Until then I'm sorry but Tetris still rules this roost and doesn't look like that's about to change anytime soon.

Edit: Of course bloody Arthea beats me to the punch.

New pre-load window?
Did Steam update recently to let you choose the installation folder?

Was in a new beta client update. I say new as the beta updates are almost 1 a day now and this wasn't in the latest one this morning but a few days ago.

Would anyone be so kind as to point me to a good trading spot I can go to if I want to look for specific game trades? Usually use TF2 Outpost, but for whatever reason Pinball Arcade tables don't show up in its search (although its emoticons, cards, and backgrounds do) so I can't make a post for it.

Games from now on should be rated on a scale of Spelunky, 1 being the maximum amount of Spelunky it can be. Only Spelunky gets 1 Spelunky.

I guess so, in the sense that Tetris is Tetris and all

im not even saying it in the sense that it's my favorite game, altho it could be, im just saying that game is god damn perfectly crafted. It's a perfect game.

I also really, really think it's gonna pass the test of time just fine. I played the original version for hundreds of hours for like 2/3 years before this one came out.

also, this just happened, and it's everything that's wrong with the world when you play confident

It's definitely in the Top 10 best games ever...

I really should play Spelunky again, I was kinda burned out after 80 or so hours (never beat it, yes I suck)... but the urge to play is rising again...

Best game ever of all time and all universes is the Ryo Hazuki driving an OutRun coin op DLC for Sonic Racing Transformed, tho, and I don't even own it.

Yeah, a beta client update released a couple of days ago added the ability to choose a pre-load location. No more fiddling with symbolic links/junction points.
