Welp, this one is just user-generated, getting news from everything they can. Same for pretty much everyone. Few have some articles/previews thing, but not actual news. Everything comes from the english/another language sources.

Plus a lot of russian websites are just rewriting stuff from gamemag. So yeah, go figure.

There was only two sources (well, there was a third guy who mentioned the same) and both are knowable people in here, so everyone else was just "oh, if they are saying this, then that's it". That's your story.

But the funniest thing was ruIGN >>> IGN article. Man, i wish you knew what guys from russian IGN are writing. Maybe google translate will do some magic, try reading Bioshock Infinite review then... "the game should've had more stealth and puzzles", LOL.

Well I was just throwing out a guess using a google search, but saying 'multiple sites are reporting this news' could have been said about that First World War Call of Duty Black Smith starring Smith Black 'news'. It doesn't matter who's regurgitating it if it all came from the same bad source.

If they were more professional, they would of waited on Monday morning, contact Sony/SCEA and ask them about the rumor. Or just post the story as RUMOR ffs.

Yeah, people often have a fuzzy picture of the impact of different franchises. Games that sell less than 2m worldwide are not system sellers. Team ICO games exist mostly as prestige projects, one part of a bigger effort by Sony to attract customers with distinguished tastes (and a part that's probably less important that it used to be now that PS4 is the IndieStation.)

The audience for The Last Guardian is composed of fairly dedicated core gamers. There's enough of those people to make the game a worthwhile production, but not to make it an absolute top-tier announcement.

No one (at least I think and hope?) is debating that IGN is basically a garbage hobo dump for losers. It's much more about what's actually going on with the game once you clear their poor reporting out of the way.

Someone from Sony going out and saying "lol it's not canceled" basically means nothing: it could mean the game's in full production, it could mean they have a skeleton crew on it, it could mean they decided not to ever staff the game back up and to pull the last few employees off it later this year but they don't want to focus on that right before E3. The only thing it really takes off the table is the scenario where they were ready to publicly announce a cancellation.

Every time there's some desirable game that disappears off the map for years in obvious development hell, there's always people who want that to mean that there's actually just a giant team working on the game in secret and saving it up as a massive surprise to reward the faithful for their years of quiet belief. In reality, once games hit that dev hell point, they usually either get canceled or they come out but they're really bad. That's not guaranteed to happen here, but it's a more realistic expectation than a stunning surprise reveal of the game. I don't think there's anything about Scott's statement that suggests the odds are different than we thought they were a few days ago.

Well said. IGN keeps changing their story every few hours and keeps trying to deflect blame anywhere else other than the sorry state of their "journalism".

On the Sony side, they have been Radio Silent on TLG for a very long time. Sony recently went Radio Silent on DriveClub for almost 7 months. During that time, there was lots of speculation on what was happening to DriveClub including rumors about folks leaving the project. Sony then did a re-launch of DriveClub in early May and the game looks good and in a healthy place. Obviously it hasn't shipped yet, so we don't know for sure whether it will turn out to be a good game or not, but early signs look promising.

I assume Sony intends to do a re-launch of TLG at some point like they did with DriveClub. That may be at E3, maybe at Gamecom, maybe TGS or maybe E3 2015. Since they have been Radio Silent for years with TLG vs. 7 months with DriveClub, there is more skepticism in the gaming community which Sony will need to overcome. There is no point in Sony talking about the game till they are good and ready for a proper re-launch.

I know it's fake but man I would love for it to happen. Sony just needs to put their resources fully behind it. Make it have great roster, solid production value and make the gameplay similar to Powerstone or maybe even GOW:A MP. I hope with PS4 being a success so far they would reconsider making another one
