Scalebound announced for XboxOne (Kamiya, UE4, Platinum/Microsoft) [Port Beg = Ban]

Poor guy is going to get his feed spammed by so many port beggers.

lol @ Kamiya acting like a dick on Twitter. I just had to reply to him with "Playstation 4!" over and over. Hah! Enjoy knowing your game will only sell 1,000 copies in your home country. :/

1. Platinum has made a game for the WiiU and it bombed horribly so it isn;t anything new.

2. Platinum are a studio that rely on paid work so they bad selling games is only detrimental to them if it discourages other publishers coming to them.

This could be the best selling Platinum title, if Microsoft is actively working to restrain the traditional Platinum quirk and Japanese-ness and make the aesthetics surrounding great gameplay marketable to a wider audience.

I also hope they force P* to drop the mission select menu and make an open world title with DMC/Bayo combat.

What's the point of getting a Japanese developer if they wanted a game like this?

Let's get it straight- there's no reason to want to buy ANY console. PCs are in such a state today that MS, Sony, and Ninty have a huge uphill battle to fight and it's only out of a grudging acceptance that a given console is the only place I can play x worthwhile title(s) that I buy in. The PS4 is no different than the XB1 in this regard. The best that can be said is that if I'm going to have to buy a console because one of the platform holders funded a game that strongly interests me, at least it's something like a Kamiya game that probably wouldn't have existed otherwise.

Pretty much. This is how it is if you're willing to spend $800+ on a PC.

I'm confident MS will respect Kamiya's vision, Japanese quirkiness included. There's already plenty of fun tongue-in-cheekiness in this trailer. It'll be great. :)

I can't believe people need to see gameplay from a platinum game.

Have they made one single game with bad gameplay?

It's a platinum game
It has big fucking monsters
I'm fine with not seeing anything else at all until release

Kamiya handled himself well on stage. His english has always been said to be rather good (he studied in England IIRC), though you could tell he was a little nervous understandably.

I can't wait until they show more of this game. Very excited for it. I get the feeling the central concept is going to be "make giant boss battles fun". Aesthetically I was thinking it looked like Lost Planet 2 (with some extra Monster Hunter) plus Devil May Cry.

It looks like Xbox brand will continue to be the home of some awesome Japanese exclusives. It's not quite like the old Xbox 1 days, but Xbone is looking really promising. Japanese game fans sleep on these consoles.

And port beggers need to stop being babies. Buy every console scrubs.

I'm absolutely intrigued. However, the style feels a bit...generic? I don't know, it doesn't scream as stylish as Bayonetta, or MadWorld, or Vanquish was in terms of design. Definitely excited though, I love Hideki Kamiya. (I'd love to see him try the horror genre again, but unlikely).

I wonder if Ninty declined the game, to b e honest based off of the trailer and W101 sales I cant blame them.

I will hold judgement for a while but this looks generic so far and lacks a soul, looks like MS grappling for MH type game in Japan
I don't know if you're familiar with Platinum, but it's almost guaranteed to be not anything like Monster Hunter. And no, MS isn't trying to grapple any MH audience with this. Platinum wouldn't be the choice for that.

And geez, sure the trailer might not have been that good, but people really should wait before judging the game that much.
I highly doubt Ninty declined the game anyway. I think it's far more likely that Microsoft approached Platinum.

It will be mental and full of style. No doubt.

Scalebound could very well sway me to buy an Xbone. The library is starting to look really appealing to me, between this and Sunset Overdrive, Killer Instinct, Quantum Break, Crackdown, etc. I've only played Halo at parties but the collection is something I'd probably like to explore, as well.

You'll last long here.
Relax, I was just teasing him because he's such a dick on Twitter (hes a damn fine game developer though!). Obviously MS is paying for development of the game so I'm not bitter. :p

He already made a game for Wii U, so I don't think he gives a shit about sales lol.
Yeah, totally, I will buy W101 when I get a Wii U, eventually. :)

...and this is different from any other Platinum title how?

:(
What about Metal Gear Rising? It didn't sell well? :(

exactly. You don't buy Coke for the party because you WANT to serve Pepsi. Likewise you don't search out Coke that tastes exactly like Pepsi either.

Presumably MS funded this because they wanted a P+ game. I just don't see Kamiya or P+ as having the reputation to sell millions of copies solely based on name alone. Likewise I don't see a "cool" Monster Hunter-alike selling huge numbers as a straight forward clone.

They funded this because they wanted a Platinum game, so I would hope that's exactly what they get. That being said, I see this ending up like pretty much every other Platinum game. (Hopefully) awesome to play, but selling just barely respectably at best.

Just watched the trailer again.
In the end other monsters controlled by humans join up including a non flying one. Maybe character customization, different monsters to chose and co-op (?).

In regards to the suit my first thought when he transformed was Guyver. But the more I think about it I am definitely getting more of a Berserker amour vibe from it.

Yeah. As a fan of their wilder signature style in Bayonetta and Anarchy Reigns, I'm disappointed with how this looks.

but it's probably a necessary concession to make towards the goal of global appeal. Alot of people seemed to be put off by how their other games looked as much as people like me enjoyed it.

If there's room for both in their output I can't be too mad really. After they're still putting out Bayonetta 2 as well, a game where I love everything about how it looks.

I'm sorry but as much as I LOVE Platinum I'm not ready to drop $460+ or so to play a game that I haven't even seen the gameplay of and would be a complete pass if it wasn't for the names behind it. Show me some crazy. Show me the main character doing a Stinger in-game. Show me over the top impossible but awesome fights in-game. Let me see the things I'm used to actually seeing from a Platinum game, good fucking gameplay.

When that stuff starts coming out I'll maybe think dropping that money on an XBone and Scalebound. Right now my interest is piqued and that's all. I'm not about to make blind decisions.

So Kamiya has loved dragons since he was a kid. This might work great if it's just Kamiya working off of one word, "Dragons". Might give him the proper center for his madness.

It's really a great opportunity for Platinum. With MS behind them, they could end up selling this very well, and their company name would become a household one.

Go back and look at the original Vanquish trailer complete with Hilary Clinton or the initial kind of underwhelming reveal of P100- their early marketing materials don't really let that style shine through.

He was holding in all the rage created by idiots backstage. But he really didn't look nervous just unhappy.

It's been so long that I couldn't even recognize that I was right in the middle of the Platinum cycle
