lol @ Kamiya acting like a dick on Twitter. I just had to reply to him with "Playstation 4!" over and over. Hah! Enjoy knowing your game will only sell 1,000 copies in your home country. :/
You'll last long here.

This could be the best selling Platinum title, if Microsoft is actively working to restrain the traditional Platinum quirk and Japanese-ness and make the aesthetics surrounding great gameplay marketable to a wider audience.
I also hope they force P* to drop the mission select menu and make an open world title with DMC/Bayo combat.
Was this the rumored big third party exclusive, then? Or was that another game or just not true?
Let's get it straight- there's no reason to want to buy ANY console. PCs are in such a state today that MS, Sony, and Ninty have a huge uphill battle to fight and it's only out of a grudging acceptance that a given console is the only place I can play x worthwhile title(s) that I buy in. The PS4 is no different than the XB1 in this regard. The best that can be said is that if I'm going to have to buy a console because one of the platform holders funded a game that strongly interests me, at least it's something like a Kamiya game that probably wouldn't have existed otherwise.
Yes it was this. A Platinum exclusive is big news, a Kamiya directed exclusive is bigger news. Was this the rumored big third party exclusive, then? Or was that another game or just not true?
I hate exclusive now I need to get another console, hopefully it isn't coming anytime soon
I bet the "MH inspiration" basically amounts to, "This game plays like DMC/Bayonetta but now you kick the shit out of dragons instead of demons/angels." Can't really complain about that, now can we?
You'd think he'd have caught them all when Bayonetta 2 was announced.Poor guy is going to get his feed spammed by so many port beggers.
I don't know if you're familiar with Platinum, but it's almost guaranteed to be not anything like Monster Hunter. And no, MS isn't trying to grapple any MH audience with this. Platinum wouldn't be the choice for that.I wonder if Ninty declined the game, to b e honest based off of the trailer and W101 sales I cant blame them.
I will hold judgement for a while but this looks generic so far and lacks a soul, looks like MS grappling for MH type game in Japan
I can't believe people need to see gameplay from a platinum game.
Have they made one single game with bad gameplay?
It's a platinum game
It has big fucking monsters
I'm fine with not seeing anything else at all until release

Relax, I was just teasing him because he's such a dick on Twitter (hes a damn fine game developer though!). Obviously MS is paying for development of the game so I'm not bitter. You'll last long here.
Yeah, totally, I will buy W101 when I get a Wii U, eventually. He already made a game for Wii U, so I don't think he gives a shit about sales lol.
What about Metal Gear Rising? It didn't sell well?...and this is different from any other Platinum title how?
What's the point of getting a Japanese developer if they wanted a game like this?

So this isn't a Platinum Games only developed game?

I'm absolutely intrigued. However, the style feels a bit...generic? I don't know, it doesn't scream as stylish as Bayonetta, or MadWorld, or Vanquish was in terms of design. Definitely excited though, I love Hideki Kamiya. (I'd love to see him try the horror genre again, but unlikely).

Yeah. As a fan of their wilder signature style in Bayonetta and Anarchy Reigns, I'm disappointed with how this looks.
but it's probably a necessary concession to make towards the goal of global appeal. Alot of people seemed to be put off by how their other games looked as much as people like me enjoyed it.
If there's room for both in their output I can't be too mad really. After they're still putting out Bayonetta 2 as well, a game where I love everything about how it looks.
Kamiya handled himself well on stage. His english has always been said to be rather good (he studied in England IIRC), though you could tell he was a little nervous understandably.
I can't wait until they show more of this game. Very excited for it. I get the feeling the central concept is going to be "make giant boss battles fun". Aesthetically I was thinking it looked like Lost Planet 2 (with some extra Monster Hunter) plus Devil May Cry.
It looks like Xbox brand will continue to be the home of some awesome Japanese exclusives. It's not quite like the old Xbox 1 days, but Xbone is looking really promising. Japanese game fans sleep on these consoles.
And port beggers need to stop being babies. Buy every console scrubs.
Go back and look at the original Vanquish trailer complete with Hilary Clinton or the initial kind of underwhelming reveal of P100- their early marketing materials don't really let that style shine through.
It's really a great opportunity for Platinum. With MS behind them, they could end up selling this very well, and their company name would become a household one.
