It makes sense that they want to combine all the games into one playlist. The fragmentation issues this collection is going to deal with online are massive.

I like that they do that, but I just want the option to just play one game's multiplayer (which it seems it might have afterall). Again, even if you do like 4, or never have to play 4 and can just play 1-3, it'd be like swapping between playing Super Smash Bros, Melee, and Brawl. Or Street Fighter 2, 3, and 4. All fun games, all similar, but all different enough that it feels weird swapping between them.

Looks like a pretty large leap to me.
Really? I think it looks great personally.

I don't know, minus the resolution and framerate it doesn't look much different to me than Halo: CEA

Halo 1 hopper will be the first thing I do, the Reach anniversary setup was alright but it didn't scratch that hard to reach itch LAN games used too back in the day.

This better get a PC port. I refuse to buy a Xbox One for one game, but damn I really want to relive Halo 2 multiplayer. Trying to find a game on Vista or on Xlink Kai just isn't the same.

To be brutally honest I'm a little underwhelmed by Halo 2's visuals. I was expecting a much larger leap from Xbox to Xbox One.

I'm with you on this.
Actually, I never bought Anniversary, because something felt off about its graphics (can't really explain it). And it's happening again with Halo2A.

(Did see the clarification right above me, but sill)

Wreckage on the door looks pretty gross and Chief's model isn't the best. Needs more shine. I think it looks fine for an Anniversary update, but yeah, it's definitely not on par with other next gen titles.

It says games in that hopper. That would be determined by 343.

I don't know. I think there's a chance those could be toggled. It would make PERFECT sense, since nearly everyone here is freaking out on some level about being forced to possibly play 4 while searching. What if you could search just CE, or CE and 3, or 2 and 3, etc. etc. etc. That would be absolutely amazing.

Bravo already confirmed there would be game specific options.

So if I'm understanding everything about matchmaking then it will be all the maps combined...but there will be game specific matchmaking options...cool

This is definitely an xbox one system seller for me. Really stoked for this game, especially if I can choose to say either play halo 2 or 3 and with all the maps I can stomach, fuck yeah.

Yes, original multiplayer running on H1 engine. RT @MrFish86 @Brav Does the Master Chief Collection include online Halo 1 multiplayer too???

Bravo @Brav · 1m

@nbwaheed we're doing some cool thinking around cross-title playlists and dedicated experiences. If you want H2, you can get H2.

I agree. looks kinda silly and pastel in the new graphics. The CG trailer with the Halo 2 Cutscene looked freaking amazing and then it goes to looking like a 360 game >_>. Same with the remastered Ascension, Dan boasted about how it takes power of the Xbox One and then it looked like Halo 4. Still most excited to actually be able to play Halo 1 and 2 online and play all the games in 1080/60 though, not going to let that stuff bother me.

Did they say anything about the ranking system for this? Does each game have their own xp or is it some giant shared pool? I miss the old H2 system where you can level down for losing. Tired of being rewarded for losing.

Anyone discover the other Easter egg left Frankie mentioned.

Then one would realize 1080p at 60 makes 480p at 30 look like a turd. It's a massive upgrade on that alone not even including the actual upgrade in assets and IQ.

Ryan: Halo 2 had a very compelling Ranking System that was dropped for future Halo games where you could lose level. You could level up and if you lost, you went on a losing streak, you would drop in levels. So we've got the unified interface for this, how are we handling that side of the game?
Don: We're gonna be talking more about how we're handling the ranking very very soon. What I will leave you with a bit of a tease is based on what you just told me I think you're going to be very happy with our ranking system.

So is this correct in what I'm saying? These engines all upscaled to 1080p60. Halo 3 will just be the same game but upscaled while the others have the newer engine.

  • Halo Anniversary - New Engine from X360
  • Halo Anniversary 2 - New Engine for XB1
  • Halo 3 - Original Engine from X360
  • Halo 4- - Original Engine from X360

All have original engines, not sure if Halo 1 is original or reach remake crap

I just expected an update that takes advantage of hardware that's exponentially more powerful than the OG Xbox...

Seems to me that they're doing a lot of work across the board with this collection.

If Halo 2 Anniversary were the only game coming, some of the nitpicking might hold value, but the scope is very broad and it's likely that not everything will be perfect.

Besides, as stated before, it's still very much a WIP

Please bring it back. I still remember the fear struck into my heart when I saw that Halo ring as someones level. Beat the shit out of us.

Yes with Hale CEA and Halo 4 both touched up since they're more recent and are 343/Saber/Certain Affinity code. Sounds like things that weren't possible on the 360 (lighting and graphic things) with Halo 4 will be in the Xbox One version.

Friggen insane value in this. MS has topped the Orange Box for best value, seriously. They could have easily spread the four games or heck split them in two, the fact that they didn't is great

If i was to do it i'd have a toggle for each playlist, where you could select which game/games you want to play and then it would only match you with people who have selected the same game/games. The voting screen would then let you select the map only from one specific game, not multiple games. This would let you match people who have Halo 2 selected with people who have have all games selected or just maybe Halo 2 and CE. This let people control what they want to play without overly fragmenting the population.
