Uh.... did people not catch the interview before the show where they said that it's in development and would be revealed at a later time? Why was anyone expecting to see it tonight?

Honestly this is another Kirby: Return to Dreamland. Gets early alpha trailers, goes away for some years, comes out randomly years later (2016/2017). I will eat crow if wrong...

I'd laugh my ass off if TLG randomly appeared as a F2P mobile game.

I think a lot of people on here get more hyped about thinking a game is dead then thinking about games that are coming out.

They'd have more of an impact if they just released it online. No one would be watching TGS, no one would hear about it from TGS. They'd hear about it from 4 different layers of people who finally got it from TGS.

So they won't do it. Much more likely it's dead, and it's a relief to think that's the truth.

No point waiting like a starving dog at a grave for the master to return from the earth.

It's destined to be a niche game, and they probably need to show something NEW to Japan. I think it fits for a show like TGS.

The Last Guardian at this point is just set out to make sure I never enjoy another E3 again, so much disappointment

How can we be led properly by people that no longer believe? I think we should be kicking some members out of the church at this point.

Just wait until TGS

You could have told someone this in 2009. They could have had a child. They would be around 4 now. And you could tell that child to wait until TGS too and they would be able to somewhat understand you (at least understanding the general concept of 'waiting')

Think about that.

I can't understand why the game has been stuck in development limbo. They seemed to have such a solid direction for it. Perhaps that's it - they aren't willing to compromise the original vision due to technical limitations. I don't know.

The game looked to be well into production years back. How did they fuck it up?

I did. That child will wait. And life will be better soon.

It looked like a difficult concept to make into a game.

Probably what killed it. They just couldn't make it happen. But Ueda's name kept its spooky old bones dancing for years.

How many games and completed trilogies have we had since then? Think about it...

You were able to determine all that from what they showed 5 years ago?

How can this game end up being any good?

@ Y2Kev

I read your recent thread before you closed it and I just wanted to say that I feel your frustrations man. No really I do, you said recently you once supported this project in 2010-11 if I remember correctly. I think I can safely say on behalf of most long term GAFers "We all do". I sincerely hope that one day you can find your peace with this.

I've faced the prospect of this game never seeing the light of day in my thoughts many, many times. But if Sony repeatedly make a point about it coming. All we can do is sit back and play the waiting game. Hell it may never come, but I'll believe that when I hear it from the horses mouth.

I doubt it was ever playable, what you saw was an artistic vision but one where art + game didn't mix.

Ueda over-reached with this one.

Dammit, Deckard, start quoting that giant-ass image.

I think I'm in Stage 6, I knew in the back of my mind it wasn't gonna happen, but I always say to myself that they would've said it's cancelled if it were dead.

Makes sense Sony wants people to still believe The Last Guardian exists; there is more money in treatments than in finding a cure. They already have 2-3 console generations of true believers buying their consoles and games still holding out for a game there has been no news for.

It was basically Ico with an AI cat helping the player along. I would've thought that all the cat's actions would have scripted depending on the player's location in the environment. That can't have been so taxing on the CPU that it wasn't possible. Could it? Even if it meant removing other AI controlled characters, surely it was achievable?

Man, i got my hopes up with the last trailer when the Sony Computer Entertainment thing appeared. I've never thought that someday i would feel disappointed when i saw a Naughty Dog logo :<

I'm either in denial, acceptance or or bargaining.

Can we have a support group for Vib Ribbon too?

Look guys, the trailer said holiday 2011, it is 2014. If they are indeed releasing on PS4 they are going back and changing EVERYTHING and upgrading everything. That takes time and I believe progress is being made.

Lol me too. No amount of polygons in Drakes face can take away my disappointment.

Certainly, yeah. It set the tone, art, and gameplay style. Sections of it looked playable. This was the team that pulled off Colossus on the PS2 - was there ever any reason to doubt?

You could be right. It looked to be in a playable format though.
