2014 High-Res PC Screenshot Thread of the Last Hope for Image Quality

Goddammit Vampire, I've even went out of my way to ask you about your ENB profile before, and I still can't get my game to look anything like yours. :p You're playing with dark magicks, man!

Lanczos algorithm in Gedosato seems to be oversharpening the image with more aliasing. Bicubic looks better, imo.

Question: Are there any Fallout 3 vegetation mods that actually try to resemble vegetation common to Virginia and Maryland?

The game is not a graphical powerhouse, there are particularly no AA options to choose from ingame.

SparseGrid can be forced via Inspector with good results using the Diablo 3 compatibility flag (0x004412C1). But it will cause a glitch in dynamic shadows with the appearance of broken lines. It is easily solved by applying the TeamFortess2 fix.

Edit; forgot to try the HBAO+ compatibilty flag. Will try it out in next set of HR pics.

WOW!! Is the game playable with this mod?

Sure. The stronger you make the effect the slower it gets though (it also gets blotchier, so higher isn't necessarily better). Also most of the performance heavy ENB effects are probably wasted when using this anyway so you can turn everything else down.

A couple Far Cry 2:

I actually really like that very bright lighting in your shots Unreal. Is that what they call global illumination ?
(I don't think it looks so good on vegetation though)

I could be the only one, but the way the SSAO(?) makes the background stuff stand out from the area that is probably supposed to be pitch black looks a bit weird.

Loving the rest.

It's undoable to make it look good in all areas. I personally turn off AO in some areas. The outside of Aldia's Manor looks hideous with the kind of AO I've configured. Foggy areas are not friendly for the AO. Could be solved if Boris V. put more work into it, but he won't. Also, don't try playing with this (and most) ENB's in the Shaded Woods.

Same goes for the bloom. There are reasons why I never released this ENB. You're all better off choosing GEM-ENB, Wickfut's, Confidence Man's or Kalicola's.

Sharpening and bloom are resolution-sensitive, and I have it all configured to look good (to me) at 6-7K. It's NOT configured for 1080p. Ramp down the sharpening in SweetFX and the bloom scale in enbbloom.fx or via the GUI if you're uncomfortable editing shaders.

Yup, I figured Shaded Woods would probably suffer from it as well. Last I played I turned GeDoSaTo SSAO off while I was there, as well.
It's unfortunate that Boris decided to not continue with its development, but I guess I should be happy that we got it at all, considering what he thinks of the Souls games.

After his latest tantrum, I wonder if we're going to get an ENB version for new Dora The Explorer game.

I think anyone playing Dark Souls II that wants to get both the best IQ and an experience that is true to what the designers came up with, should just use GeDoSaTo, and maybe fiddle a bit with the shaders included. You'll not run into the horde of problems in various areas which you'll see when using my or any other ENB (although some are better than others).

In a perfect world, I would use GeDoSaTo in concert with ENB, but the two not interacting nicely has kind of forced my hand. I'm in it for the screenshots, so I'm content to play with ENB at low resolutions and hotsample the thing to get pretty screens.

I actually liked the SSAO in The Gutter. As sketchy as it looks. I do wish there was a hotkey to turn it off though. The ENB UI is waaaay too small when playing at large resolutions so I can't really use that to make changes.

Wickfut's was just way too dark for me. The very first area was almost pitch black. I didn't try any others though.

i just can't stop loving your screenshots. Will see if i can try to do some on DS2 later. If i remember correctly, it's better to use the freecam offline, right?

Using cheat engine for ANYTHING in Dark Souls 2 requires you to play offline. From what I hear, using cheat engine when connected online for just a second can get you VAC banned.

Tonight I think I'll waste a few hours seeing if I can find gamespeed. TImestop would make for much better screenshots...

I've had the CE table active while online on numerous occasions now. And SweetFX. And ENB. And GeDoSaTo. Still no VAC ban. I think it's not even VAC-enabled right now, by the way. They are scanning for cheaters, but I bet cam hacks aren't flagged. For the time being.

Pardon some of the aliasing - ingame edge smoothing is shit and have it disabled.

Tried the STALKER compatibility flag for OGL but wasn't working.

Driver FXAA works well but does not get captured in the screenies.

*Sigh* Nvidia really was lazy with testing driver HBAO+ before testing it weren't they? (even though i've said this multiple times)

The amount of problems games with "Official" flags is pretty astounding.
(If you can't see the problem here, move along. You'll be happy that you don't)

That flag was a placebo. flags only affects calls through the D3D9/ex API

To be fair, the game doesn't have an official flag. Closest to an official one with AC II would've been the flag for the first Assassin's Creed, but I couldn't get it to work.

There might be a better flag around, but I just settled with the first one that worked.
