Visceral goes over feedback received from Battlefield: Hardline beta

I like that they're focused on improving less than stellar aspects of the game so far, hopefully this continues into launch. They're on the right track.

That’s why we’re happy to introduce you to the CMW – the Community’s Most Wanted. This is where we will outline some of the fixes and improvements we are making to Battlefield Hardline based on feedback we received during the beta and what we’re hearing from you. Yes, we are listening! Below are just a few things from the beta that we’ve learned and the changes we’ve already put into the game we play every day here.

1. MOVEMENT:
There was a lot of feedback about slow movement speed and feeling “sluggish”. We’ve increased player speed by 10%, and players will get a +10% bonus for running with your pistol out. It feels much faster now!

2. SUPPRESSION:
There were a lot of negative comments about the camera “bounce” when suppressed. We’ve changed the way suppression works – your aimpoint is no longer affected, but your situational awareness is.

3. SURVIVALIST:
We’ve heard both sides of the argument on the Survivalist gadget, it is pretty polarizing. Some of you hate it, some of you love it – either way, we agree it was overpowered. We’ve changed it to revive you at 1 health and auto-inject after 5 seconds.

4. HIGH TENSION – CRANE CAMERA SHAKE:
A number of people called out the camera shake from this event as being too over the top. We’re tuning this down.

5. HIGH TENSION – STAIRS IN HIGH TENSION BUG:
Stairs in High Tension should no longer pull players into the wall.

6. ELEVATED OBJECTIVES:
We’ve added some feedback to help you find the objective when it’s above or below you.

7. SPECIAL VEHICLES:
We’re working on adding more special drivable vehicles like the Fuel Truck into all maps. We’re also working on a handbrake for cars.

8. STUCK VEHICLES:
We’re working on the ability to “nudge” vehicles with a melee attack to help get them unstuck or to be able to move past them. No promises, but the early prototype looks promising!

9. HEAVY VEHICLE DAMAGE:
We’ve added “weak spots” in the rear of the heavily armored vehicles, making it much easier to bring them down!

10. VEHICLE OCCUPANT LIST:
We’re working on adding the Bag Carrier icon to the list of teammates inside your vehicle, so that you can tell when the bag carrier gets in your vehicle.

This dialogue doesn’t end with the beta. We plan on continuing this from now until launch – and beyond. So come back to the site to check in and see the latest CMW lists and to voice your opinion. We will be revealing a ton of new multiplayer details including new maps, new modes, gadgets and our single player campaign – we want to hear your feedback!

They get the feedback about how this is a mod not a full game? Plan on dropping the price to $25-30?

EA has to be shitting their pants with the little attention BFH is receiving.

It's like nobody gives a fuck about it.
Poor Visceral :(

Yeah how did no one comment on this thread for 2 days? That's a real bad sign, apathy is even worse than derision.

I don't know, I have a few gamer friends talking about it, but I don't think any, if there are maybe a few, are excited about getting it.

Not going to happen, because some people didn't buy BF4 and would be more inclined to buy this. EA wouldn't give away money by releasing it at half-price.

It's probably hard to take that feedback seriously when all people have experienced is an unfinished multiplayer map with a handful of the progression and loadout features. I don't know though. People said Battlefield 4 alpha felt like a mod but that stopped when the retail version came out.

COME ON!

If this bombs EA will probably dismantle Visceral or just let them help with the main Battlefield games.

edit: I liked the Hardline beta btw. Will probably buy the game.

I dunno this mod might have less issues than BF4.

I liked the beta. It just needs more time in the oven.

I feel like they haven't even tried to make the cops and robbers thing work. There's so much potential but like people have been saying, they've literally just reskinned BF4. Which is disappointing

I highly doubt I'm gonna pick this up

Did anyone tell them how unrealistic it is to have SWAT with minigun equipped choppers and terrorists blowing up buildings? Or we just going to presume it's simply a BF4 re-skin?

Yea I was expecting smaller skirmishes with robbers trying to evade the cops. Instead we have a crane destroy a building as robbers shooting rocket launchers trying to get 500K.

I'm somewhat curious what the hell the single player is going to be with the ridiculous multiplayer scenarios. Payday 2 is also pretty crazy when heists can result in the death of 500+ cops but it also doesn't really have a single player story trying to ground it.

played like 30 minutes of the beta,

it convinced me not to buy the game.

3 times in a row now where the games are identical, even Call of Duty does more sweeping changes across the board at this point. Kind of ironic as that's how Battlefield fans used to attack COD for not "changing".

Isn't BF3 to 4 just a mod/expansion upgrade too? As its just the same game but new maps and some small gameplay tweaks? Yet people still paid full price for that transition without complaining.

I'm not trying to defend hardline though, as i think its a terrible game in its current state..

The bit that should interest people is the story. This could be the first good Battlefield campaign since Bad Company 2.

I gave away a few beta codes and NOBODY I gave them to, want to buy this game. I played some of the Beta right up until Destiny alpha began. I can honestly say I've had nooo desire to play it again (don't even know/care if it's still open).

It really did feel like a BF4 mod in Seige of Shanghai.

Visceral deserves better than everything that's happened to them since Dead Space 2.

Damn shame. I loved DS, and DS2. Skipped DS3 after hearing how they went "action heavy" with it. I'll finally try it out now, thanks to PS+ but man is EA running setting this studio up for failure.

Ugh, God. I still remember the lead up to BF3 launch a few years ago, any COD or BF3 video was literally a fucking piece of shit in the comments. Now everyone is even so everyone keeps quiet lol.

I downloaded the beta but couldn't be fucked to even load it. As was said, this would make a badass TC back in the day, I'm sure.

After playing the beta for awhile I'm just going to stick with BF4. Doesn't feel fresh enough, like a map pack. Of which I have two outstanding from my BF4 Premium purchase anyways

EA is using the Dragon Age playbook with this series. Hardline will be their Dragon Age 2... it'll sell less than the previous installment but still millions because of the Battlefield name. They will still make bank because they must have spent nothing making this mod. And then they will take a 2 year break (since Battlefront is next year) and they'll come back and say how they learned so much from Hardline and they won't make the same mistakes again (like they're doing with Inquisition). And of course, gullible fools will fall for it hook, line and sinker.

God's had his chance.
Out of everyone on my friends list and all my friends at work maybe one person is actually excited about Hardline.

It's kind of shocking how few shits anyone gives about this game. sent to die, essentially.

I wasn't a fan of the beta, but to the people going on about how this game was a mod:

What makes this game different from Call of Duty or even BF3 to 4? We are going to get a new singleplayer campaign and a new set of MP maps with what is essentially the same gameplay. Some new models and animations with some old ones that have been reskinned. Nothing special or different from those two.

I honestly expect Visceral's SP campaign for this mod to be better than DICE's pathetic effort.

all it has to do is work and hold your save info without corrupting it to do that! BF4 still has the single player save bug i think.... Fuck this game til its 20$
Wonder why EA felt that Battlefield had to be annualized.
They are chasing that CoD money.

especially after fucking up like they did. This is like expecting steak and a BJ after you forgot the anniversary.
After 3, they should have realized that BF was anything but gold. I guess they didn't expect 4 to be so bad.

They've had this in motion for years, so I guess in a perfect world where Battlefield 4 was universally loved and not totally broken, they assumed people would be hungry for another one. Obviously that's not the case.

Add to that EA having very little for the rest of the year, and it does reek a bit of filling in the gaps.

They've been having Medal of Honor and Battlefield alternate for a while now, but with MoH being bad everytime it just wasn't possible. I assume the plan going forward will be a 3 shooter rotation of Battlefield, Battlefront, and Titanfall.
