Actually it gets boring pretty fast

I agree with this assessment. The second season suffers from the same fate as the first. In that halfway through both seasons you've already seen what it has to offer and it seems like it's just spinning its wheels after that. Fuck that Daya/Bennett storyline UGH

Silicon Valley deserves that comedy award, fantastic series. And I echo the sentiments of "die, TBBT".

A lot of realities need to be adjusted . Breaking bad was entertaining and one of the best shows i ever saw... That is until true detective happened . Its rare when I consider one show the greatest and another show in the same year tops it. Td is a deeper and more meaningful show than breaking bad which was going for its finale which was suspenseful and fun but that is it. The level of td went further past it

Hope True Detective wins everything it's up for.

Though I also hope Jon Hamm wins an Emmy before Mad Men is done. Could he get it next year for the second half of Mad Men S7? He's just too good as Don Draper to never win it.

I know it's an opinion, so it technically can't be wrong, but still…your opinion is wrong.

I know the show caters to a more hardcore viewership as times goes on, but there is no arguing that the show and it's characters lost the cultural impact it once garnered from adoring fans and casual watchers alike. I like the show, but I feel like something's been missing for a while that I can't explain. I don't think I'm alone on this one.

The older I get, the weirder I find the reactions to award snubs.

The Emmys should start putting together a category for anthology shows, though. The format is only going to become more and more popular, and it's going to end up cannibalizing the series and miniseries categories if producers are free to submit to either one. Plus, they're not directly comparable to the typical long-form show. FX's president said this a couple months ago, but anthologies and miniseries can easier attract higher talent because of much lighter time commitments, which can unfairly stack the deck in their favor for acting awards consideration.

5 pages and no one mentioned that William H. Macy got nomination for Shameless. FUCK YES. Probably the most underrated TV show currently on the air. It's so fucking good.

you speak so well
Downton robbed The Good Wife of a series nom, what a shame. Overall though, not a very surprising list of nominations - Silicon Valley is a pleasant surprise and Tatiana Maslany and Hannibal clearly deserve some sort of recognition but when have the Emmys ever got it exactly right?

Never exactly right, but TGW missing is a colossal fuckup. No writing noms either, even though I could pull out almost any individual episode from season 5 and easily make a case for it.

After five solid seasons of award worthy content (Season 1 would of won, in 1994) but RuPaul's Drag Race still did not get nominared for best reality series and RuPaul got snubbed from Best Host.

Anywho

Shame, outside of the Netflix origionals, I would have to wait for a year before most of the nominated shows go on Netflix or Amazon Prime.

Well, I expected the no Hannibal nominations, but even by Emmy standards the drama nominations are fucking terrible. It's a rare year when I feel that only one of the drama series out of the six nominated deserves to be there (Breaking Bad), with the rest either way past their prime (Mad Men), or outright terrible (the other four shows).

No Matthew Rhys or Michael Sheen nominations? Give me a fucking break.

The mediocre House of Cards and True Detective cleaning up just shows that Emmy is still susceptible to that movie star hype.

The one bright spot is that OITNB did pretty well.

So Hannibal, Orphan Black and Shameless got robbed again this year? Figures. William H. Macy being nominated and not Emmy Rossum is a fucking travesty considering he barely did anything this season.

I feel sorry for anyone pulling for Sherlock or Luther. The Normal Heart has those categories tied up, that movie was pure awards bait. Not to say that it isn't good, it is very good, lots of very strong performances.

Yeah, no Emmy nomination for Emmy is just another way these awards clearly have no clue as to who is actually doing good work on television.

You're always so funny.
What does Emmy Rossum have to do to get a nomination?
I actually don't think she's special. She's good. Like everyone else on Shameless.

This is beyond "exactly right."

You would have had to have never seen this season of Hannibal at all to somehow ignore it for every award you could nominate it for.

Haribi

Why isn't there a Star Wars RPG? And wouldn't James Bond make for a pretty good FPS?
No Pedro Pascal Nomination as Guest Actor? Cmon

Also why are Fargo and American Horror Story nominated in the Miniseries Category but True Detective isn't?

I mostly agree with this honestly, with the exception that I don't think Mad Men is past its prime and "outright terrible" wouldn't be my first choice of words.

Matthew Rhys and Michael Sheen are two more glaring omissions.

HoC really is mediocre. TD was great but not amazing.

OITNB's first season was fantastic, second season not so much. Glad this is judging the former.

Even though it's not the greatest show out there but Revenge star Henry Czerny should have gotten a nod for his work as Conrad Grayson. The guy was straight up pure evil this season.

How the fuck did Hannibal not even get a nomination in the technical categories? No sound mixing or editing nom? Are you shitting me? That's outrageous.

I can't...I would argue she's the heart and soul of that show. Macy is good and I'm glad to see the show get some recognition. But she's on another level to me. I would rate her alongside Tatiana Maslany and Eva Green as the best working right now. They could have at least dropped Melissa McCarthy from that fluff with a laugh track show and made room for her in the comedy category.

Cranston, Wright, Dinklage, Gunn and Breaking Bad will all win in Drama. But I could see McConaughey, Danes, Paul, Baranski and Trues Detective as Dark Horses.
Can't spaek for Comedy or MiniMovies since I haven't seen any of the nominations.

House of Cards - 13 nominations
Downtown Abbey - 12 nominations
Sherlock (lol) 12 nominations

Mad Men - 4 noms
The Americans - 1 nom
Hannibal - 0 noms

That's all you need to know about the Emmy's.

I think Margulies has Best Actress pretty much locked. Most people seem to agree with that at least. And I believe Baranski has more of a shot than Gunn; Gunn barely had a presence in the last few episodes.

I'm more shocked that American Horror Story: Coven earned 17 nominations for it's worst season. At least GoT, Fargo and Breaking Bad got a bunch.

Matthew McConaughey as Rust Cohle better win Best Actor. One of the best character portrayals I've seen on television in years. Also really glad Woody got nominated as well, I wasn't expecting that. As much as I love Bryan Cranston, I think either Woody or Matthew will grab this one from him.

Also, Fargo is going to completely sweep the miniseries categories.
