I'm already visioning posters coming out of the woodworks for this post.

I agree.
I'd put Gurren Lagann 15 up there with the best, that is an incredible episode too, but E7 26, fuck. From the storyboarding, overall episode direction, to writing and acting, the whole thing is an amazing artistic achievement. I wish I owned key frames of the episode, just to frame.

It's shit tons better, lol. On every level. E7 26 is one of the all time greatest episodes of TV animation, period.

Eh, my favorite episode will always be 43. I remember 26 being good in the animation department though.

Edit: I have somewhat poor memory because it looks like I really enjoyed 26. Though I only commented on the animation.

Pffft. The reason you think that Renton's awesome moment isn't up to Noriko and Simon's awesome moment snuffs is because this isn't even Renton's awesome moment yet.

Ah, good. I just heard a lot of praise for this episode specifically and thought that this was where it was at. Good to hear that it gets better.

Eureka Seven - 27

WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY.

Why did Charles have to go out like that dammit? ;_;

With his awesome attitude I was expecting him to go out in a blaze of glory. Not killed off by Holland and then getting a time bomb placed on him by his own wife.

This show just took a major tone-shift.

Pretty sweet episode with Hime and everyone else sneaking into the Blue Sky Kingdom to see Hime's mother for mother's day, even if it did lead to them getting beaten up and having to run away again. Their powers are much weaker in there so it's gonna be interesting to see how they handle that for the inevitable final battle. Paparazzi episode next time, oh boy.

Man, I haven't watched Eureka in years. Did they ever put it in widescreen and HD-ify it yet? Back when I saw it, 4:3 was still the thing.
I cant think of any show that has had that done aside from Gundam Seed and Destiny.

That would involve cropping, etc. Original aspect ratio is always king. If a show was framed for 4:3 I dont think it should be changed.

haha

I actually do have a key frame from the episode that I have framed. It's a big pan shot of the Swan.

It was made with a 4:3 aspect ratio. It was upscaled and released on Blu-ray, the image quality as I recall is better in some ways than the DVD release and worse in other ways.

Nozaki kun is good. Expected something average and competent, maybe, got something a little more.

P4G is... very Marie-centric. I wonder if they'll have the guts to actually force a real romantic pairing. Really looking forward to the Golden rendition of Valentine's Day.

Marie's outfit is even more horrifying animated, doubly so with the fucked up proportions.

Did you chums know that Chie likes meat?

I'm actually somewhat surprised that people liked the 2nd episode of Terror in Resonance. So much of it is info dumping and solving a basic riddle.

I think someone here already mentioned that the second episode would be mostly exposition.

I do agree about the riddle part, was it really necessary to take that much time to explain the entire Oedipus story to audiences?

Yea that was me. I saw the episode earlier at the AX premiere.

Thought people would dislike it because they go into detail over stuff that the audience really doesn't need to know.

Ah, I didn't realize 4:3 was the original format. It kinda irks me sometimes having to watch video like that, but I suppose it's no different from watching something with the black bars on the top and bottom, and I don't complain about that. Is the whole thing out on blu-ray now? I might have to give it another watch.

Yes. Funimation released it in the U.S.

Edit: Speaking of Bones and Blu-ray relases, is Wolf's Rain ever getting one? :\

They're setting the theme, the detective is smart, etc. I'm not sure what people expect them to do, they have to get some info dump somewhere. The riddle is a good thing to revisit, plus the "hidden/not widely known version". I like learning in anime, especially when it doesn't break the mood of the story.

Why does no anime I'm watching air today. I'm so bored.
Have to wait like 3 and a half days for Hanayamatamaya what a joke.

I don't think Funi have the rights yet.

It is a Bandai Visual title though, but I wonder when and if they would actually bother to release it. I still have my DVDs though.

Reminds me I need to buy that Rahxephon blu-ray box from Japan, it actually has english subs (and the dub)

I need to watch something happy. I was planning on watching The Idolm@ster for my next series (to give it a fair shot) but I might do Usagi Drop instead.

The Idolm@ster is surpsingly decent/good. Fun stories and characters, and not fanservice heavy at all (very little of it actually)

Terror in Tokes 2

Just listening to the ost is great, but hearing it play with the events happening in motion provides a great experience. My first impression of 9 was more solidified with this episode. He comes of as cold, yet remains the more sentimental one to me. Twelve seems more harsh, and is not adamant about taking the girls life if need be. Of course 9 would also do the same thing; however I feel that it would weigh heavily on 9s mind. Espically after seeing episode 1 were
the nightmare of what happend to him, and twelve seems to have a more profound effect on his psyche .
I'm still am worried about the role the girl is going to play within the show, and hope she doesn't break up the trust that 9&12 have built up due to the events they faced. More back story is still necessary in order to give me a better understanding of their motives. Which I'm sure will come. The build up was really good providing a sense of suspense for me even though I knew what was going to happen. Animation wise this show still remains the best of this season.

I'm not really knowledgeable on the techniques used or what it is called, but I love how this shot can be mistaken as a real picture. I love seeing these type of shots in shows were I'm pretty sure they just recreated/traced over scenery from some location.

Now onto the little attack they pulled off. I have mixed feelings about how it went down.
I really want to call bullshit on how 9 was able to just enter the cops HQ and plant a bomb. However, I've known people including me who been able to get into places they shouldn't be by simply blending in or acting like they belong there. Perhaps I shoudl fly to japan and see if bringing that sweet ramen is going to let me sneak in.
Shibasaki is definitely the more interesting character to me, and it really seems like the show is going to focus on him being the only one who going to get close to catching them terrorists. Overall I can't wait to see how this show pans out, and hope it doesn't end in disappointment with bringing the terror because I'm not really feeling it just yet.

persona 4 the golden the animation episode two of summer 2014 -

The exceedingly self aware game-ness makes it more interesting than it should be. Also done with June after two episodes. Yo damn.

Very marie-centric still and going by the ED it won't change anytime soon.

Looks like shit and it'll just get worse on that front.

I don't know if I'll keep watching.

Who wouldn't want to let a cute girl stay in their home if they are living in terrible circumstances.
Thank god I rethought what I was going to say
