Few thoughts from my session last night:

I got up to level 6 last night with a Warlock playing solo on the story mode. Took me a little bit to understand a quick double tap on the jump makes him glide directly up really high (if it was explained I missed it - I wonder if anyone else did?).

I'm surprised how intense everything felt, despite there not being much penalty for dying, it gave me a feeling that I have forgot, one that I have not felt since the first halo. This definitely felt like Bungie at its best.

After that my friend finally finished his download and we played together, it was a lot of fun but lacked a bit of that intensity (I think mainly because the audio got mixed down in favor of my friends voice). My buddy was awe struck and it was really enjoyable just basking in this games glory. I'm loving this and looking forward to what is to come.

Getting on to downloading this was a pain, I had to input the code something like 15 times, but once the beta client downloaded, 11gb was downloaded in under 30 mins for me (and that was 1 hour after the beta opened) on a 150mbit line. So I'm pretty sure it was being maxed out once I got past the first download. Quite impressive and a real relief after all the faffing about on PSN.

Yeah totally just opinions, but I don't know if I've played a game before that's done so little to get me invested and set-up what I'm doing. The grimoire cards might be cool, but I don't personally want to read cards as a means of developing the story.

Here's the issues I have with the game's intro (and first three missions):
- Overall, the story feels thin and fragmented so far.
- The Ghost mentions that he brought me back from the dead, but how, why, etc. isn't really explained.
- The missions feel mundane. I just kind of find a ship I can use, and then...bam...at The Tower. Short cut scene ensues that briefly references some 'Darkness' coming, and then I'm told to just go and help the cause. Um, OK...I guess?

Yeah your Guardian is amazingly uncurious about the state of things...

I'm kinda surprised that they don't show anything from The City either than The Tower.

Guardians risk their lives every day for the sole reason to protect those within the City walls. Please let me see how they live and what they feel about the current state of life. I wan't to be motivated when heading out into the wild trying to find answers to everyones survival.

As of now The Tower feels more like a factory that produces combat drones, and they are labeled Guardians. They don't question anything, and they're not conflicted with the events of being resurrected, cleaned of their memories and then thrown out into the dangerous world with a gun in their hands.

Am I the only one that feels that this is very odd somehow?

Love it so far. Just hope they can nail the little performance hiccups before release. Looks great, oozzes atmosphere. Sounds great, Great gunplay. Colour me impressed. Can't play now until Monday night now though 8(

feels so good to be back.

i do hope to see even more customization options once the full game hits. lack of facial hair is a bummer. my guy needs a nice strong mustache a real thick bully.

The real reason it was good to have it in as it made you more aware of surroundings and where your team where at all times, also stopped people just rocketing people and having their team mate survive a point blank hit.

But I guess I come from a different zone to most I played quite a lot of MLG so teamwork was really important, so shooting someone either with a sniper or rocket wasn't really what I was aiming for..

As to other playlists/social where betrayals were rife.

Ah, I've noticed that, but it's not big enough of a deal to me to drown out the negatives of it... Or maybe Reach just left a really bad impression on it for me.

I fear that Bungie will do their old Halo trick, and let you read all about that in an upcoming book trilogy.

I seriously don't like his music or him, so the less said IMO the better.

In the context of mainstream marketing, it's probably the easiest way to get attention. "Hey, that guy from The Beatles, you know, the fucking Beatles, is making music for this video game". That's a sure fire ticket to get mentioned in eveyr mainstream media out there, and they aren't taking advantage of it. It just seems super weird.

I sure hope the tower isn't the only City HUB since it's so small. At the same time considering the framerate when many players are around I doubt we will get cities with many human npc going about their day.

Yeah, so, I played pretty much everything I could do in the Alpha. I was pretty underwhelmed compared to a lot of GAFfers going "oh man this game. THIS GAME!" and "Anybody else having a hard time playing other games after playing the Alpha?" I just am not sure what I'm missing. So I decided I'll wait and see if the Beta changes my mind.

So far, nope, I'm still not feeling the hype. The cutscenes and new intro are kinda nice, but I dunno. It just feels like I can't tell if the game is hard to give a good feel for in alpha/beta forms or if this is really how the game will be the whole time. I understand that they are supposed to limit what we can see and do by a lot, but man content just feels very low in a way that makes me afraid of how this game is gonna go. Every mission pretty much has you go through the same scenery on the planet over and over. Enemies just constantly spawn. You're hardly ever rewarded for big fights. Kill a giant spider tank and instead of a reward, you get greeted by more enemies before heading in to fight another boss. =/

I'm feeling very wary about this game and I'm thinking I'll have to play it safe and give it a rent before deciding if it's something I want to own and play through to completion. Just really hard to tell what this game is gonna be like. And I do not really like PvP FPS games, so that part is not going to entice me.

The problem with most games now is they don't really have any sense of ranking system so people just go after kills and KD now, when really it's supposed to be about getting the objective and the win.

I just hope to god Destiny has some form of skill based ranking system.
Not for the OH LOOK I'm a 50 element, but the fact it actually made people want to work together.

I played the Hunter first and made it to lv 8.

I enjoy the class a lot. Especially in PVP where the Golden Gun is just hilariously awesome to use XD.

I just started my Titan and Warlock classes though and will begin to use them tomorrow.

I wish the level cap was a little higher though. Anybody know what the level cap will be on official release? So far I've only seen level 20 as the highest gear to obtain.

Yeah I can see some problems with that. But some kind of City exploration would be fun.

I kinda expect them to open up a town square or something for everyone to explore. A social HUB for more direct player interaction. Perhaps with mini-games, bars and such.

Either this shit is actually gonna be the entire crux of the plot, or Bungie really didn't think the conceit through other than vague texture of mysterious epicness.

Nah I do get the whole HEY BEATLES WOW thing, buy buy buy.

I just really don't like him as a person and also his music is the worst of all the Solo projects of the Beatles, wish Lennon was here, he was kick ass....
Paul is just one of those people really that I groan whenever i hear his voice or any of his music it's not that diverse and just feels soulless.

Phew. Just played for 13 hours straight. Gonna eat then right back into it. I have SO MANY NEW SKILLS THAT WE COULDN'T GET IN THE ALPHA.

And my skills still aren't being capped. So fucking cool. OH, and I read all the skill descriptions for Warlock's 2nd subclass, Sunsinger.

RADIANCE SOUNDS AMAZING.

I'm very interested in where they are going with this as well. Either it is definitely something plot wise or it's just bullshit

the cynic in me feels like it was just vagueness but, if they hid that part of the story/area as part of the plot then I would definitely have to give them their due -

Well we are all entitled to our opinions. Personally I am seeing him live for the first time in August and will probably cry because of my love for him and his music. Guy is a musical genius so they should say more about him. I wonder how much of his music made it in.

Is there a lot of loot in the beta like there is in Borderlands? Bc if there isn't then I think the game is a fail.

lol...there is definitely not a lot of loot like Borderlands. This is like the opposite of Borderlands loot for me.

Borderlands gave me too much loot. And after awhile 99% of the loot I'd find was throw away.

Destiny starves you for loot. And when you do find loot, it's usually not that great either and dismantling the loot just nets you some pocket change.

I think there needs to be a good middle ground. But I've been having a hard time enjoying the other parts enough to really care about that. Sucks because I really want something to hold me over til the October games. But who knows, maybe the full game will surprise me.

So here is where my curiosity is currently. So far we know for a fact that each class has two options, and this is reflected in the character menu. The question I have is that if you look closely when hovering over the class box you can clearly see a slot for a 3rd subclass option.

Has bungie ever said anything about exactly how many sub classes would be available? My thought is that there will be a 3rd class for each and it will represent the missing element that each currently lacks.

Example
Titan:
Striker = Arc
Defender = Void
?? = Solar

Hunter:
Gunslinger = Solar
Blade Dancer = Arc
?? = Void

Warlock:
Void Walker = Void
Flame Singer = Solar
?? = Arc

I have not see anything which confirms or denies the exsistance of a 3rd branch for each class, but why have the 3rd slot of it wont be used?

From what I've played so far, Borderlands is the better game, I still think Destiny is a 7/10 but something like Borderlands 2 was a 9/10 for me.

If They'd release Borderlands 2 on PS4 with all the DLC I'd be on that shit so fast, i'd forget Destiny even existed.

Yeah I'm wondering how far they've taken the story, because it holds some great potential.

What is really the purpose of being resurrected? I haven't figured that out yet. Does it even have a significant purpose for the story or is it just there to answer the question of why your character lacks any kind of personality or memory of the past?
