And maybe it's just me but the scarf kinda looks like a 5. kinda
Hopefully the MC isn't as terrible as the D4's .
Personally, I hope not; Disgaea is one of the few formulas I enjoy.. NIS have been trying to mix it up lately and not doing a great job.
Unlosing Ranger, Fate Paradox, Witch and the Hundred Knight, none of them are on par with what they have with Disgaea, in any regard.
I'm also sad to say I didn't enjoy Disgaea D2 much either, and while D4 was best of the series for me, they've fired the guy directing D4- and not just him either.
From memory they've lost the majority of the talent that went into D1-D4.. I'm not sure who is left now.
I'm really not holding out much hope for the future either way.
It's pretty frustrating because NIS SRPGs were one of the few recurring series I really enjoyed playing, all the rest seem to have literally gone to hell.
I do agree with you with Disgaea 4, it's my favorite of the series, and D2 didn't really hold my attention either (But to be fair I was more interessed in GFP).Despite having Fuuka and Desco, ugh
But, on the other hand, where their non-Disgaea really all as good as their main series? I mean, I love Soul Nomad, but it's not something I could play over and over again.
And, while Hundred Knight development was a complete mess (I mean, they wanted to make an open-world RPG; too ambitious for them), it was an attempt... And I personally think ZHP and GFP are their best games that aren't Disgaea (Despite ZHP having poorly though out mechanics and GFP having awful plot).

From memory there was a rather large shitstorm about NIS not paying fair wages, some time around Disgaea D2 was released. There was a decent amount of discussion about here on GAF, probably some out in the internet wilds if you look back 6-12 months.Whoa first time I heard of this! Is this true? where did you hear this?
Have you tried Phantom Brave/Maki kingdom? They're pretty good,
D2 was lacking in a lot of content, and having to buy DLC character where half of them were also DLC characters in 4 made me meh, in the end I went back to 4 then really going deeper in the post game of D2

Would it really kill them do make the MC female, for once ?
I see what likely are Laharl and Flonne.
Is that Etna on the right? They finally gave her some boobs?
What??!??! Is this real life? Val was awesome. The whole cast was great, maybe even the best all around cast to date.

I don't have much info about it, but it seems that this is a summer card sent by Nippon Ichi. The characters are new.
Man, I hope so. Remote play grinding is the ingredient that has been missing from Disgaea.Pretty sure it has already been hinted that its a PS4 game.
None of the Disgaea MC's stand up to Laharl
Adell is my favorite protagonist, as well. Call me boring, but I like my heroes to be good guys. Laharl is amusing and all, but he's not really all that likable. Mao was the worst of all worlds. I can't speak from experience, but not many people seem to like Valvatorez, either.Adell would crack Laharl's jaw in half and feed it to him.

Pfft.
No.

words cannot explain how much of a bitch adell is. this dude wears a button down shirt with cutoff sleeves, a comically large tie and elbow length evening gown-esque gloves.
Disgaea 2 is the only one I didn't play, when you get stuff like cheat shop or infinite item floors, it's just so hard to go back to the old Disgaea.
Give it to me already NIS.
He would. It's his special ability: the more powerful the demon, the stronger Adell hits. Best ability ever.
And I liked Valvatorez. Mao was okay; his cast was amazing though.
How can people hate on Adell? He's one of the best protagonists, together with Valvatorez!
They got to understand that Disgaea fans love bratty, selfish, childish mains. I loved Laharl and Mao, I hated the other two.
Laharl and Flonne are the favorite Disgaea characters.

As for the cast, I was a bit disappointed. Raspberyl was kinda interesting, but she got shoved to the side since they instead chose to make Almaz the heroine (and I don't find him all that interesting).
Sure, it's still a hardcore game, but the important thing is to make it approachable to newcomers, so that even people who are not interessed in all those mechanics can enjoy it.
I mean, you don't even need half of the mechanics if you're interessed in only the Story mode
Poor Asagi... Still no game of her own.
Raspberyl is the best thing about D3.
