Disgaea 5 characters hinted?

Personally, I hope not; Disgaea is one of the few formulas I enjoy.. NIS have been trying to mix it up lately and not doing a great job.
Unlosing Ranger, Fate Paradox, Witch and the Hundred Knight, none of them are on par with what they have with Disgaea, in any regard.

I'm also sad to say I didn't enjoy Disgaea D2 much either, and while D4 was best of the series for me, they've fired the guy directing D4- and not just him either.
From memory they've lost the majority of the talent that went into D1-D4.. I'm not sure who is left now.
I'm really not holding out much hope for the future either way.

It's pretty frustrating because NIS SRPGs were one of the few recurring series I really enjoyed playing, all the rest seem to have literally gone to hell.

I do agree with you with Disgaea 4, it's my favorite of the series
Despite having Fuuka and Desco, ugh
, and D2 didn't really hold my attention either (But to be fair I was more interessed in GFP).

But, on the other hand, where their non-Disgaea really all as good as their main series? I mean, I love Soul Nomad, but it's not something I could play over and over again.

And, while Hundred Knight development was a complete mess (I mean, they wanted to make an open-world RPG; too ambitious for them), it was an attempt... And I personally think ZHP and GFP are their best games that aren't Disgaea (Despite ZHP having poorly though out mechanics and GFP having awful plot).

Have you tried Phantom Brave/Maki kingdom? They're pretty good,

D2 was lacking in a lot of content, and having to buy DLC character where half of them were also DLC characters in 4 made me meh, in the end I went back to 4 then really going deeper in the post game of D2

Whoa first time I heard of this! Is this true? where did you hear this?

Also super excited for D5. Like others I prefer my strategy rpgs on handhelds now...it just feels right :p

People called Romanes they go the house?
Always pumped for more Disgaea. Wonder what the new change-ups for the systems will be.

Whoa, didn't know this.

That...could be troubling. On the other hand, it could maybe get them to update the spell effects to not have PS1-2 level stuff.

From memory there was a rather large shitstorm about NIS not paying fair wages, some time around Disgaea D2 was released. There was a decent amount of discussion about here on GAF, probably some out in the internet wilds if you look back 6-12 months.

Coudn't really go back to 4 after D2 (No way in hell I'm going back to the Chara World).

Never really got a chance to play them, actually. I don't really have my PS2 anymore, so I can't comment on Makai Kingdom, but I have a PSP, so I could try Phantom Brave... But I can't really like games with time limits

Heh, I like the designs. They certainly aren't original for Disgaea but Harada's use of colours in his illustrations always win me over.

Would it really kill them do make the MC female, for once ?

I'd be fine with a female MC, but I'll give it to NIS. Disgaea casts are pretty diverse when it comes to gender. Whether you like the characters or not is another matter entirely.

D5 on PS4 would be a pretty thing to remote play, lag won't matter on a tactics game. But I'm not against a Vita version after they port DD2.

And Valvatorez was annoying, but I'll jump back when the Vita version releases to play the DLC chapters.

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.
Loved D1, Liked D2, Hated D3, Skipped D4 and everything after. Might jump back in for this because these character designs are really cool, especially the roided out Zetta.

Also, for people saying that other NIS games don't grab you like Disgaea does... I highly suggest you play Phantom Brave and Makai Kingdom, if you haven't. Phantom Brave especially.

I don't have much info about it, but it seems that this is a summer card sent by Nippon Ichi. The characters are new.

OMG the character designs look freaking amazing....

Disgaea 5 on PS4 would be beautiful.

I'm loving the character designs. Some great stuff here.

I'd really like to see it be for the PS4, although I will take Vita as well. Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if it were for the PS3. That console just keeps on giving.

Adell would crack Laharl's jaw in half and feed it to him.
Adell is my favorite protagonist, as well. Call me boring, but I like my heroes to be good guys. Laharl is amusing and all, but he's not really all that likable. Mao was the worst of all worlds. I can't speak from experience, but not many people seem to like Valvatorez, either.

words cannot describe how much of a bitch adell is. this dude wears a button down shirt with cutoff sleeves, a comically large tie and elbow length evening gown-esque gloves. he wasnt funny, he wasnt witty, he was just constantly being the exasperated straight man. the only MC i remember fondly was laharl. the 3 big characters of that game were all excellent and had a good chemistry.

i will say though that besides the 1st disgaea my least favorite narrative points in all disgaea games are when they try to add depth to their characters and have them learn something. its ok to have 1 dimensional characters, they are funny.

anyways i'm psyched to hear more about this.

They got to understand that Disgaea fans love bratty, selfish, childish mains. I loved Laharl and Mao, I hated the other two.

Laharl and Flonne are the favorite Disgaea characters.

Say what you will about his fashion sense, but story-wise he's as badass as they come. He punches demons in the face and doesn't afraid of anything.

Laharl, Etna and Flonne are by far my favourite characters.

Though I do have to say, the designs of the new crew are some of the best of the series.

Disgaea 2 is the only one I didn't play, when you get stuff like cheat shop or infinite item floors, it's just so hard to go back to the old Disgaea.

How can people hate on Adell? He's one of the best protagonists, together with Valvatorez!

Laharl and Flonne are the favorite Disgaea characters.

And I liked Valvatorez. Mao was okay; his cast was amazing though.

I don't like Adell. Coz from start finish, it felt like he was just saying one thing. But D2 had Rozalind. I am fascinated by her "speech"/"dialect"/"accent" or whatever the proper word actually is. (Played the JP versions of the game here.)

I disliked Mao. More than I did Adell.

As for the cast, I was a bit disappointed. Raspberyl was kinda interesting, but she got shoved to the side since they instead chose to make Almaz the heroine (and I don't find him all that interesting). Salvatore was the first person to make me laugh out loud in the game, while Sapphire is pretty nice. I'll someday have a go at Raspberyl-hen.

That said, they need to remake/port the Marl Kingdom trilogy. I'd buy it even if they tried to sell it for 8000 yen. *__*

If I find enough time, I'll get to try Antiphona one day. It was meant to be a successor, but it apparently failed commercially.

P.S. We were promised last year that we'd get an Asagi game. I'm still waiting. For any information at all.

No one wants a throne you've been sitting on!
Sure, it's still a hardcore game, but the important thing is to make it approachable to newcomers, so that even people who are not interessed in all those mechanics can enjoy it.

I mean, you don't even need half of the mechanics if you're interessed in only the Story mode

screw the newcomers really. since its been the core audience thats been keeping the series alive this long.

you start messing with core mechanics and you can have a good amount of your actual consumer base walk away if you fuck it up. dont think they will be willing to risk that.

Poor Asagi... Still no game of her own.
