My point was that statement was condescending towards people who have a legitimate passion for the game that work hard to become skilled at it.

I would probably need to take a week off from work if they announced a FFXIII character in Smash Bros I'd be laughing so hard at the sheer rage that would be pouring out everywhere

I like all the people getting mad that Brawl's roster is only 35 characters. Fifty was a totally reasonable jump from Melee's 26, guys!
I legitimately want Lightning in SSB4.
It'd be a much better F-Zero stage than Port Town.

On one hand, new game+3DS controls means they're pretty vulnerable, but 1v1 no items means they'll have to be eliminated on their own terms.
Also the fact that the players who can potentially beat them have a high chance of getting random'd out via FFA.
would lol if someone like Fiction came through the FFA rounds and stomped everyone

I sure missed a lot of K. Rool talk today. I don't see how people are claiming we shouldn't even mention K. Rool because of irrelevancy. Some people obviously still have some connection with the character, myself included. I would honestly be delighted to have in Smash, but I really think Dixie deserves the spot more.
Also, using Rare's old designs as a reason why "K. Rool and Dixie should never be in Smash" is just silly. It's obvious that Rare's old renders don't look that great anymore, but the fact characters like Diddy, Dixie and Cranky are even around today prove that they are pretty timeless. All three have had tweaks over time from Nintendo, Paon, and Retro that I think improved the characters.
Speaking of improvement, let's talk about fucking Funky Kong.
Funky's Rare design is literally buried in the 90's. If there's a DKC design that I had to complain about, it'd be his.
Have a look at this, though! I think Retro and Paon did a great job redeeming the character for me. His newer design and animations are just lovely

To be fair, even back during the Dojo era there was a lot of speculation about characters getting cut, but, usually it was either clones getting the axe or characters getting replaced by newer, more relevant characters who would otherwise keep the previous characters' movesets (ex. Ness->Lucas, Marth->Ike and, shockingly enough, Power Suit Samus->Mega Man).

You do realize Funky's modern design is a modernized version of his DKC3 design, right?
At the time all they had to go on was the leak of the final roster and various Japanese screenshots, but yes. I just think it's silly that they had the idea that 20 or so newcomers was at all reasonable.

Here's a crazy thought you two; how many real-life villains do you know that play Smash bros and wish they had more characters they could identify with? Now how many female players do you think have been excited to see some non-princess female characters they can play? I think the ratio is heavily in favour of the second group, don't you think?
I don't really mind people wanting K.Rool in, even if i think the character's design is awful but the minute people say he should be in over Dixie Kong for reasons of 'diversity' I feel myself bubbling up in incandescent rage.
What diversity? We already have several non-human male characters and bowser is freakishly close to K.Rool in straight up 'monster man' aesthetics. How many non-human female characters can you name in smash outside of maybe, possibly, jigglypuff? (who we all just assume is female because the game doesn't really clarify it) I'll give you a clue, the number is less than 1.
Moveset possibilities? Yeah, a huge prehensile ponytail that she can even turn into a whirling helicopter blade to fly and bubblegum guns. No possible creative playground there to make a moveset out of compared to a fat croc with a blunderbuss.
Support K.Rool all you want, that's fine and dandy, but don't give me this 'diversity' nonsense when comparing to Dixie.
We've gone 3 games with utterly lacking female representation so now we're finally getting some decent choice I want my goddamn icecream
