Terraria |OT3| 1.2 many things to dig...

I started playing on Vita too since it was free on PS+. It's pretty cool, but I despise the inventory system. It's awful. Let alone knowing which things are actually useful and what is okay to trash, trying to remember which things go in which chest in my house, and then scrolling through the crafting menu everytime I get something new to see if does anything. I feel like I spend 75% of my time just plopping through UI screens and then go digging for a bit but oh wait my bag is full again. There's potential there for a really neat game, but I don't know that I'll stick with it much longer sadly.
What you can do is have a chest for blocks, a chest for ores, a chest for potions, ect. Then when you go back to your base, you just go to each chest and do a "quick stack" on each of them. That'll dump everything from your inventory into the proper chest without you even having to think about it.

The PC version gets updated faster (a third party, 505 games, handles the console ports) and has a pretty solid population. If it's on sale, I'd probably just get it.

Edit: Still on sale for $1.99. Worth it.

Thanks! I'm going do a solo run on vita then switch over to PC for the multiplayer and mods. The MP on consoles is pretty limited as it apparently only allows you to join the world of people on your friends list. Hopefully the GAF server is still active.

As to your building question, you can do pretty much whatever you want. As long as they have a door (or a drop-thru floor works), a chair, a table and light NPCs will move in. If you want to put them in a concrete egg crates or build individual houses for each one, it's up to you.

I was introduced to terraria through the vita, an play on it exclusively. I love it, I can't see playing it on anything else. It's now pretty updated, and it has everything I want from te pc version. Mods are cool, but there is so much to this game, I would only use those once I got "finished" with about everything, and that wil take a looooooooong time with my current play schedule.

For the housing situation, I like having one giant house with rooms for everyone. Makes it easy to find npcs. Their rooms are tiny, they don't need space. Plus I like having a giant plce for everyone too. I've been meaning to build a really big castle, but I'm lazy. But it'd have rooms for everyone, separated chests for each types of items, normal rooms, and a bunch more. Best thing I can say is to have your house elevated. I have to rocket boot my way up to my house. It really helps with blood moons and other invasions. Doesn't alleviate the problem entirely, but same block placement on doors during those times will reduce a lot of potential headaches.

Thanks for the advice, guys. I had my first goblin invasion and sure enough I'm regretting not having blocked doors or an elevated structure. They were easy enough to defeat but wiped out virtually every NPC, lol since they was strewn about. I'll probably get started on a big castle myself. Maybe create a moat or deep ditch? I don't have the rocket boots so I'm relying solely on the grapple+cloud-in-a-bottle.

My first meteorite obviously landed. Man, those fire enemies that spawn from it are a PITA. I couldn't even get into a nice groove without having to stop every few seconds to kill them. Mined quite a bit, though. Made a phase blade but not sure if I should make the meteor armor since it looks pretty weak on defense.

Currently saving up for a minishark gun (32 G). Is it worth it?
I've been considering this as well. I want to get the mega shark eventually I imagine...If you have the money I would say yea it's worth it. Money doesn't buy a ton, aside from those precious reforges. I think I'm going to bite the bullet and do it. Heyooooo!

For now my ranged method is the Sharanga bow...any suggestions for something better that isn't the minishark?

I actually don't have it yet but I wouldn't worry too much about money. I have 5 plat right now and I spent 2 plat on the clementinator and a few plat on other things.

It seems like it's common to use the minishark (and turn it into a megashark) for a lot of the boss fights. Personally, I like using my Uzi instead.

Wow, that Sharanga is sexy. Hahaha, now I want it. Hell, I want anything made out of that material. I've got a bit of hellstone stocked up but haven't come by a hellforge yet. Need to get back down there.

I ended up buying the minishark so we'll see how it fares. I don't know much about anything else but I've seen the shark mentioned several times in the wikis so I figured it was a safe bet for boss battles.

Yep, that's why I was curious about it @minishark. Assuming there's no specific ammo (for any gun), yes? Got a bunch of meteorite left over even after crafting the suit, axehammer and gun so I'll spend some of it on meteor bullets and sell the rest.

Ah, I was wondering why there were four coin slots. Gold is the highest I've found. Or I'm guessing you just had a bunch of gold and converted over to a plat coin. Good to know I don't need to be concerned with running out. Thanks.

Well, I defeated the wall of flesh and activated hardmode. Beginning to regret doing it as everything is now kicking my ass. Even with decent armor (molten) I'm still not able to move about without dying. And then I read that 'corruprion' spreads and makes your house unsuitable for NPCs. I don't like this, but it's too late now. I do have my most recent cloud save I can revert back to so that I better prepare but I don't want to fight the wall again until I have to.

Most of us on the PC version don't trigger hardmode on our home planets. We just dig a hellevator, kill the wall and then use that new world for further adventure.

Definitely stick with it. If you can keep progressing, you'll get to the point where even hardmode is almost too easy.

I'm definitely trying, man. I even had to remove the bottom floor doors from my current tower. 8 NPCs...all slain by werewolves. I just don't have the faintest clue where to head to get a stronger ore. Destroyed like 5 alters and mined a bunch of pearl stone and that apparently makes nothing and eventually turns into more corruption? Jesus.

Man oh MAN I had a great run last night. Time for a quick little story, or breakdown of the events, with the key points spoilerified. Tried out the
Witch Doctors
potion making stand with a confetti pot. Confetti was going everywhere, it was awesome and cool too see a huge swarm of enemies explode with color all over the screen, with no perceptible slowdown. FINALLY got me some wings! They are the Sparkly wings, and I love them. I also finally got a decent/good set of armor, the
Adamantite set.
It looks great, I love the full set bonuses, and it lets me actually hang with the enemies much better. Even a boss! Finally got around to beating a boss, too. I have several summoning items for the
3 mechanical
bosses, been lucky there. I tried the
Twins
before, and I got thoroughly taken for a ride. Was bad. Last night though, right after I crafted the armor, I decided to try the "easiest" of the hardmode bosses - the
Destroyer
. I had about 2 minutes after I finished my armor set to get equipped for the boss summoning. On my platform well above my home, drank my soup, got my buffs, pulled out my mechanical worm
;)
and summoned the beast. Lucky for me, right after I did, I got the message that a Blood Moon was upon me! Hurray!! I quickly saw that 2 of my npc's got slaughtered, with no sight of the boss from my perch up high. I jump to the ground to begin my battle.
Man this guy is big! Seemed bigger than the Eater, but it could just be my lack of memory of that fight
. Anyhoo, while going to town on this guy, I decided to take some pics, because with the Blood Moon, my confetti pot, and this boss dude, it was a freakin party! It even had a light show, complete with lasers and sparkly glitter like things :p So much chaos going on, it was awesome. 2 of my buffs seemed to end almost immediately after I took that bossman down, too - and for some reason that just made me grin from ear to ear. Perfect timing. I had a blast. Here are some linked, non spoilerific pics during the boss fight for your eyeballs.

Getting the armor, and a few other items,
jungle hearts that increase your max health even more!
and those wings, I am starting to really get into the swing of hardmode, and I know I am just beginning, really. This game keeps on rewarding, and I can't get enough of it. I see it as one of the most rewarding MetroidVania type games ever made. But then, it's not a true MetroidVania, it' something else entirely, but it's darn close. Each better item you get allows you go further, explore more, mine more, fight more. Also playing it on the Vita makes it so easy to jump in and do a little here, and a little there. I can't wait to start getting to the endgame stuff. I know this and Minecraft get lumped together, and I have not played MC either. I can't wait for it's Vita release, but I know there is no way that MC can capture the sense of character progression, the larger battles, the boss fights, and more. Not to mention Terraria's art style, it's like the greatest SNES game that came out 20 years late.

Keep on hunting. You'll find them, eventually. I'd recommend Iron Skin potions in the mean time, as there is a bunch of stuff that will whomp you easily. As I'm sure you're already experiencing :p Also treasure hunting potions will help you spot ores on the edges of your screen, definitely recommend you taking those. But I'd almost say to start looking for a better weapon first, that way you can have a chance to fight off whatever is coming at you during your mining. The
Phasesabers
are good, and relatively easy to create. Scratch that, they are great. Location of one of the mats -
the crystals can be found in the underground Hallow biome. Look for a large cluster of pearlstone underground, and look around in there.
The pearlstone is the Hallow's equivalent of the crimson stone, iirc. The crimson stone is a part of the Corruption - the dead sickly looking world, where the Hallow is the happy, multi colored fantasy land. Both the Hallow and Corruption spread in Hardmode, though there are ways to slow it down. Each of those biomes have their own unique enemy sets. I was feeling the exact same woes as you. Until I made that weapon I mentioned, then I felt a little better. Then I got a drill to mine faster. Then I got a decent set of armor from the weakest new ore, and felt ok for a little, but I was still getting whomped. I just now (last night) got a full set of fairly solid armor that lets me hang with enemies now. Almost like near the peak of what it was like in normal mode, a little bit before you were ready for the Wall. I tell ya, when you start getting back into the "I'm finally at your level and even better" than a fair amount of the mob enemies in hardmode, it definitely feels great. If you are playing on Vita, I'd love to offer my help when I can, when you are on :D I don't think I'm much farther than you. With my current play schedule, you will likely be even closer to where I am by the sounds of it.
Most of us on the PC version don't trigger hardmode on our home planets. We just dig a hellevator, kill the wall and then use that new world for further adventure.
:O I never would have thought of that, that's not a bad idea. I'm starting to not like my current home placement now, since I want to add so much to it...and the rest of the land doesn't look too appealing either. I am debating on either making small replacement homes for my inhabitants while I move a bunch of land, and rebuild....or just start a new world...again. Starting a new world isn't as bad as it sounds, the more I think about it. I already have a bunch of items to summon the bosses, and I have decent weapons and armor. That is even if I put that world into hardmode...but then I like the fun and the challenge associated with it. And this is my first time going this far, I want to see how far I can get before the world just becomes too crazy, if that would ever happen.

The way I played Terraria was, the first world was to learn, the second world was to build, the third world was to harvest. I keep all of my NPCs and storage on that second world, and have steadily built it up to be more like a city.

It definitely feels too hard at first with normal mode gear, but once you start building some hard mode gear it gets way better. It's good that you destroyed some altars already. Just make sure to keep at least one around in case you need it for crafting. You can destroy all the others to generate as much new ore as possible.

And yeah pearl stone does nothing useful. But go back through caves and areas you've already searched to get the new ore. The first and easiest set of hard mode armor you can make is Cobalt/Palladium. You'll want to at least start with that while you're searching for mythril.

Make some Spelunker Potions to help search for ore. They aren't really too expensive to make. It's just bottled water, moonglow, blinkroot, and gold ore. If you make a handful of those and start going back through caves plus digging around to areas you haven't explored yet, you'll find a ton of hard mode ore. More than you'll ever need, even.

Oh...my...science...THAT is stunning....Amazing work, you give inspiration to us all. That is something I would like to do...but that is a looooot of work. However, the separation of it all, the order, the design, all of it...it is exactly what I want to do but always seem to forget to start -_- I do have a few questions though - Your NPC / storage world, that seems to be in normal mode, right? I'm just curious if by having it it normal mode, you may miss out on certain NPC's or things that only hardmode offers. But that ties into my next question, for the hardmode stuff, is that what your harvest world is for? I don't know how quickly the loading is on PC, but I know that would be one heckuva pain on the Vita. Did you do the massive creation after you beat all the bosses, and had end game stuff? Or was it a gradual process?

My current crappy housing is in the bottom middle of a valley, but I have it raised considerably to prevent those nasties from coming in. But it is also directly in the middle of the Hallow. I love the hallow, but I am starting to miss the normality of the basic greens. I kind of would like to create a new world, solely for creating a vast utopia, but I kind of would like to have that in the world I will always be in. I know I could always "do it again", but then again, I am unfamiliar with all the hardmode missables that I am working so hard for.

I had a plan for how I wanted the buildings organized before I started and some sketches of how I wanted them to look. Then I started looking for a world with the right features (the dungeon being smack dab in the middle of where I wanted my town was a nice surprise, I hadn't counted on that).

To get the NPCs that are only available via Hardmode, I used an external program called TEdit to trigger them without having Hardmode activated that and pasting in some of the structures were the only thing I 'cheated' on.

Harvest World is where I trigger Hardmode, yes.

I built most of that after I had triggered Hardmode on my harvest world, just to see what kind of building materials I might be able to get.

Ahhhh...the PC master race winning out yet again. Well, thanks for the input. I may just keep what I have going. Though, for poops and laughs, I decided to create a new small world and run along the surface to see what kind of topography it had. I came across something I hadn't seen yet, an enourmous tree on one side of the map. Like, huge. This is comparitively a Sequoia tree compared to the maples, elms, and others.I have to go around the tree, or carve through it. No walking in front of it. I am very tempted to start over once more, and create a massive treehouse. Nay, a treemansion! Now I can't get the idea out of my head about it being a tree fort for Peter Pan's Lost Boys, in Neverland....

Man I am having pretty solid luck..sorta! Right when I was ready to take down the
Destroyer
again for some mats, I got another blood moon, so I held off this time. AND THEN, right when the blood moon ended, I got my first
pirate invasion
! I was pretty pumped about it, but ultimately somewaht let down due to the ease I had dispatching them Their captain was my only issue, he killed me, and then vanished back to the sea like the grimey sea dog they are. It was a great invasion though, as I got a Cutlass with +20% (or so) damage, giving it an attack of around 76...!! With it's very fast attack speed, this thing easily outranks my Phasesaber, and the Excalibur (no stat bonuses). All the cutlass has is the single damage modifier, but I am very content with it, as it already has a stupid fast swing, and decent crit rate. The I found a beach ball, and some decent items to sell. After all that invasion nonsense, I took on the previously mentioned boss, took him down no problem. I figured since it was so easy, I'd try it again for even more mats!

YEa...that's where my luck ended...I freaking destroyed this dude (ololo), but got no mats :( I found some soul essences in the sky, but so far I have found nothing on the ground item wise from killing him/her/it the second time in a night. No big deal, as I have about 5 more summoning items, and I know I can easily trash this dude now. Might farm him several more times to get a enough of the hallowed bars to make the armor set, and the Pickaxe axe.

I played this my whole weekend on Vita. It sucked me in.

Reading this thread it seems I still have barely scratched the surface. So, much more to do!!

It's insane how packed this game is with content. Not matter how much you play, there's always something else you could do or try.

Yea, if you are just starting out, you will be playing this for a looong time. I didn't intend for it to happen, but this game also sucked away every once of free time I had this weekend too! It being portable obviously was a huge part of that. But still...I don't think I have plyed this game this much in a while. I think I am getting to endgame content. Or getting close to getting there. I know I went on a boss rush rampage -
the Twins 2x, Skeletron Prime, The Destroyer 2x
(for fun)
, Plantera, and attempted
Golem
. Made an arena for the
plant
jerk. The other mechanicals I fought on the surface, just on a long flat spot I littered with campfires and such. I got my first
solar eclipse
, and from that, a broken sword. Each thing I do gets me ever clsoer to the ultimate gear and builds. Soon enough I will be focusing on actual building, and just crafting items.

It is pretty crazy. I've slowly been playing it here and there, and finally organized my items by type and box like you said (though I still think it's needlessly tedious). I was making some good progress until I got sucked across the map and dumped into a pool of lava for the Wall of Flesh or something like that. No clue what happened there, it just zoomed me through a bunch of walls and plopped me in to die. Resurrected and then got attacked by goblins for some reason. They were pretty easy to deal with (but so many!), although I lost most of my NPCs in the mayhem.

Is there any way to tell where a meteorite landed? I got a message but ran the whole way across my world and didn't see anything.

Yea, the item box organization is tedious as crap. Best advice I can give on that is to buy a piggy bank, you can fill that sucker up, then use a hammer/pickaxe (can't remember) and pick it up, with everything in it, and have it only take up one item slot. It also works well to store your money in it :D

That Wall of Flesh thing is weird, something must have happened during the organization (spoiler for those that don't wanna know)
that sacrificed the guide somehow, perhaps with the guide doll
. But that is what happens...he grabs ya and pulls you right to him so he can beat you into submission. Weird stuff though...The goblins could have been a part of a Goblin Invasion. You get messages for those, but the game doesn't pause when you are doing Inventory management, the message could have popped when you were in menus and you may have overlooked it. I know I barely caught one or two messages like that. The Goblin invasion is like a blood moon, except the goblin have many varieties, and can be a little more challenging for the earlier players. Don't worry about those NPC's, they'll be back in time.

Meteorites can be seen from the map, they appear as darker colored brown blocks. Best bet on the map is to look across the surface, and see if you notice a color difference, or a topography difference that looks like something slammed into the ground. The meteorite will burn you if you stand on it, unless you have certain items equipped. Also, meteorites spawn when you are close to the impact zone. They aren't too challenging, but they do provide a decent source of money for a little while. The meteor impact zone is random, too. I've had about 5 fall on my world so far, luckily, none have been on or near my house. Here is a pic of what the impact zone looks like -
MO7lwig.png

The meteor crashed into the snow biome, right on tunnel I had going, but it was mainly for ease of getting through the area. You can see the color of the meteor, it looks like that wherever it lands. The way the blocks on the bottoms are scattered about, too, is a giveaway, as the meteor "splinters" and shards go into the area surrounding the impact zone. If you still can't find it on the map, walk slowly along the surface, and if you start seeing meteorites floating through the air after you, you are close! The mats you get from there can create some good armor & tools early on, so good luck finding it!

Thanks for all the tips, good info! Do meteorites ever just disappear after so long? Mine happened a while ago at this point, will it still be there? I do remember getting a Guide Doll somewhere, but I think I junked it (or it's in my misc box). Is that supposed to be a winnable fight somehow, or is that the game's way of telling you not to dig down that deep?

One other question.. I bought a minishark gun (with minus stats, jerk!) but is there a better way to buy/craft bullets than buying a single bullet at a time? It takes forever!

Thanks for all the tips, good info! 1. Do meteorites ever just disappear after so long? Mine happened a while ago at this point, will it still be there? 2. I numbered parts of your entry so I could more easily separate the answers, in case I ramble, which can happen.

1. Meteorites will stay there until you mine them all up. I haven't needed any mats from the ones in my world, and as a result I have many craters where those little floating meteorites spawn. Materials in general stay on the ground for a verrrry long time, or until you save & quit :p I haven't quit my game in forever, and every now and then I'll be running along and I'll pick up some stuff that some random enemy dropped forever ago.

2. The Guide Dolls can be acquired in the Underworld, from Voodoo Demons. You can tell which ones those are, because it looks like a normal demon, just holding that doll! Be sure they are safe at all times, and avoid killing that Voodoo Demon unless you know it will drop it's loot on solid ground. Spoiler incoming
Sacrificing the Guide Doll is how you spawn the Wall of Flesh. Not sure if "trashing" it will summon it, but I know dropping the doll in lava certainly will, and is the preferred method
.

3. That fight is very winnable, just not right now for you. It's considered the "last" boss of normal mode. Beating that boss changes things. It sets the world in to hard mode, with tons of new enemies, loot, and more. ONLY do that once you are content that you are "done" with normal mode, because it can and will kick your buns for a while. For now, focus on getting better weaponry and armor, you'll come across other bosses along the way before the WoF is in your range. Even still, the dude is a pain with normal level gear, depending on what you are equipped with.

4. When buying items, or even moving them, if you press triangle, it will allow you to select one at a time. Holding triangle selects one, but then keeps selecting one over and over, very quickly. Holding triangle in the buy menu for bullets does the same thing, it starts the counter. It auto deducts from your monies when you do. Hold triangle, move to inventory, easy 600 ammo just bought. As far as the negative stats are concerned, there is a way to "reforge" items that give it different buffs. You need to defeat a certain boss. Mild spoilers, but vague enough to not give it directly away.
This boss can be summoned at night, if you are daring. Once you beat the boss, you have to explore what he was defending, and you'll find someone who can help
. Make sure you have a room available for one to three people, and once you find them assign them to a room in case they die. They will most likely die quickly, but don't fret, they'll return in short order.

Numbers work for me, I can also get kind of rambly!

For #2, that must have been what happened. I was fighting those flying demons near some lava and then all of a sudden wooooosh!

3. Holy heck there's so much in this game. I always thought it was a simple little thing where you build houses and dig some holes, more of a sandbox kind of thing. Some rough edges, but it's growing on me for sure.

4. Mind blown! That will make it much much easier, considering how fast that thing chews through ammo. That NPC sounds really nice to have around and I really like fighting the bosses, so hopefully I'm close to being able to do that.

The Eater of Worlds was kind of a pushover, that was the last boss I beat. Got a sweet Nightmare pickaxe and shadow armor! It's hard to give up my mining helmet though, I really hate setting torches so the passive light is super nice to have.

Yea, this game is very much a huge sandbox game. Personally, I see it as one of the best MetroidVania game ever. The story is lacking, yes, but you get the whole map to explore from the get go. Some places you can't go due to stronger eneimies, or or stronger minerals you can't pass through. You kill a bunch of enemies, collect some loot, build better gear & weapons, allowing you to go fruther than you did before, or explore places plreviously unreachable. It doesn't have the focus of say Guacamelee, or SotN, but it still stands out in my eyes. It is absolutely packed to the gills with things to do, explore, craft, and create. I never know where to pick back up, because I always want to do so much! The Eater of Worlds is a pushover, but it's also a decent intro to what you'll be facing. And a great into to the upgrade system. Now you have better armor, you can withstand more, and can likely take more enemies out than before. Your new pickaxe will let youmine faster, and possibly more minerals. Torches are indeed a pain to place, but they are permanent, and they are good to know where you've been before. Especially once you clear a lot of the map, and need to go on the hunt for something specific. There are plenty of other passive light pieces to acquire, and then discard due to better gear. You're just starting to scratch the surface ololo But go nuts, and zone out on some digging! I remember spending about 3 and a half hours digging a tunnel from the surface to the underworld. With a really bad pickaxe. It was awesome though, a great learning experience, and a great way to uncover more of the map. Plus, a good deal of ore was found this way too.

Got the reforge guy just now, and he made it even worse! Completely broke again, but exploring the dungeon is super fun and I'm getting some decent money. There seems to be a lot of locked chests or something that I can't do anything with though.

haha yeah that will happen. You can keep reforging to get what you want. It can get costly.

Yo, the truffle will not spawn for me. I've constructed two separate biomes and homes...other NPCs can even be assigned, but that S.O.B will not move in no matter what I do.

I was having the same issue the last time I played (on Vita). I figured I just had to wait longer or something. Maybe it's bugged.

Did you manage to figure it out? Seems like it could be a glitch because I've now built three large biomes with varying sized houses made of 3 different materials. Each a good distance away from corruption and hallow. Hell, one was damn near as high as the cloud houses. Freaking annoying. Really wanted that shroom set of armor since I primarily use the mega shark, not to mention it's part of a trophy requirement. Gahhh, so I then consider just using that spray gun that converts land into your desired biome ....and the blue solution is only sold by the truffle. Nice.

I made a jungle biome in my home, to try to Chloro-Ore farm, but then I realized the elevation was too high. So I left it be. Later, I go check out the overgrowth, and what do I find?
A fruit of life, and a Plantera bulb!
Further exploration gave me locations for about 7 more bulbs, and about 9 additional Demon Altars. 4 of those altars are within a larger cave, all on the same screen. I already busted up 6 of those things, I guess I might as well break the rest? Of course, I'll leave the closest easiest one to get to. Unless there is a reason why I shouldn't?

I am actually just working on this now. In the process, I found out that my fisherman already left my world long long ago, and I will be unable to get him :( Worst case though, could you start a new world, get it to hardmode immediately, build the biome, and then see if he moves in that way? At least then you'd be able to buy his wares, though it'd be a pain in the tuckus.

I never did figure it out. Most of my world is hallowed, so my mushroom biome was right in the middle of it. But the music changes, the lighting goes dark, ect. It's definitely the right biome, on the surface, with valid housing.

I just figured what I'd do was try it in one of my newer worlds. My main world is from the launch of the game so it has plenty of issues of its own as the updates and fixes have come out.

I extended the length of my surface mushroom biome and I built a house in a natural one that was deeper underground just seeing if I could get the NPC to spawn. It didn't. I also tore down and re-built the house in both places. Still nothing.

On a positive note, I finally killed Plantera though. It actually wasn't bad with the cheesy teleporter method.

I need to look into this cheese. I made an arena to fight it in, and it went moderately ok. Megasharked him, though I had to dance around plenty at several times in the fight. I want to fight him more....but then again I really don't. I dunno why. I have several more bulbs to bust, and I want those drops. Mushroom biome wise, my biome seems to have stopped spreading. Got plenty of glowing mushrooms, and mud all around. It's a smaller room though, not sure if size matters when it comes to this.

Yeah, I don't know what it is about Plantera but I just don't really enjoy fighting it. It's one of the few bosses I was happy to cheese. I do want to kill it some more for those drops, though. I might do it in my other world. The world I'm using from the game launch doesn't even have a jungle dungeon. It doesn't even have bee hives lol.

I don't know what is up with this mushroom biome nonsense. I've already started making a new one in my other world. I'm also in the process of moving everything over to it. It's so tedious!

So, guys, I took your advice and set up a shroom biome in a new world. Ha, but guess what?! The other NPCs will apparently need to move in first. F that (at least for now). I'll wait for some sort of confirmation from one of you guys before I attempt it.

And, yeah, Plantera is definitely a pain in the ass. I used chlorophyte bullets (auto target) with a mega shark to make it easier. Didn't bother constructing an arena because, well, I'm lazy. Sucks the dungeon key drop is needed for opening those special chests, though. Wanted some vampire knives but I'm not fighting it again. Nope.

I think the boss that gives me the hardest time are The Twins. Not even hard...just really aggravating. Took me a few days, actually.

Any of guys played Steamworld Dig? If so do you recommend it? I heard it shares some of Terraria's charm. On sale right now for $5 (PSN).

Here's the tower I've been working on in my new world. It's really tall and unfinished, so I didn't bother taking pictures of the rest of the tower up in the air, but you get the idea. I haven't started decorating yet either.

I got most of my stuff from my other world moved in. I need to put my armor collection somewhere though.

I haven't been able to get Truffle to move in on this world either. I have a surface mushroom biome. The background and music change, it's suitable housing, ect. But no Truffle yet. Hopefully he shows up soon.

So our suspicions have been confirmed about the Truffle bug. Dn't know why I didn't think to try this before but I loaded the game on PS3 and he showed up 5 seconds later (along with the trophy). Don't know what the deal is with the vita version. And holy hell at the cost of his wares! All this time stressing and I wouldn't have been able to afford any of it, anyway.

@baron Von beans, I don't think the fisherman is on consoles. I drained both of my oceans anyway but yeahhh.

Wow! That is awesome. I *love* seeing peoples creations in this game. I have honestly set it down for a few days, been playing (not happily) PixelJunk Shooter, but I (hope) and think I am done with it soon. Pretty sure when I do go back, it will be spent creating. Crafting. BUILDING. I want to throw my creation up on the proverbial "wall". Nice work though. I think my biggest hurdle will be where to begin the building.

RATS!!!!! Well, I have 2 npc slots left. One for the Mushroom King Toad
:p
, and one for someone else. Will need to do moar research in the wiki to figure out who I am missing.

For those having trouble getting Truffle to spawn in the VIta version, I was finally able to get him to spawn a few minutes ago after having issues with it too. I tried looking on the Terraria forums for any answer and there seemed to be a few things people tried/suggested. I ended trying a few of the things I read and I'm not sure if it was one of them or combination of them that finally worked. What I ended doing was tearing down the original house I built. After that I made a small floating island just a bit above my mushroom biome and built a new house there. I also saw something about having any crimson/corruption too close to the mushroom biome preventing him from spawning. I didn't have any near it on the surface but there was a bit underground so I got rid of it just in case. A few minutes after I did that he finally spawned.

Not sure if all that stuff was what did it or if I just got lucky after hours of trying but I thought I'd share it to see if it might help someone else.

I finally got to try out the multiplayer on the Vita version last night. It was pretty fun, though also a little glitchy. Several times, the world failed to load, resulting in lots of long flat walls, or floors, or just huge expanses of open-ness. I was following my buddy down this tunnel, helping him dig away, when suddenly we started falling. And falling. And fallling. I didn't see a single block on my screen during my descent. Now, this guy is in normal mode, and there is no way he mined this massive expanse of a cave, it was simply far too massive, with absolutely nothing in sight. Once I stopped falling, I pulled up my map, and I was about half the entire map distance vertically away from him. I fell through the world, until the network or something caught up and loaded everything back in. It was crazy. It happened a few more times, but nothing as bad as the orignal cavernous find. Until, this happened -
We were running along the surface, got to the ocean, went for a swim, saw the edge of the world...and just kept on going.. The world just stopped, like it stopped loading earlier in the caverns. It looked just like the map in the game, too. I ended up flying around under the water, and then attaching myself to the ground. My buddy went further to the edge, where I saw on the map him falling down a ways, then teleporting back up, falling, teleporting, falling, etc..until he eventualy double jumped out. He went back in, I was flying around under the world more, then next thing I know I am literally in the middle of a giant screen of sand, no openings anywhere. I mine a little safe spot, but realize I am drowning, and magic mirror my way home. He eventually died, but I had *no* idea where he ended up. All in all, good times! But I think if the network connection isn't that great issues can happen....

Regarding the Shroomin Jerk, I am planning on completely remaking my castle/living quarters. I am going to try to draw something up in excel to use as a template. But I have already started creating my bricks and walls, I just need a solid floor plan.

Yeah I love it when people post their stuff too. I hope more people start doing it but I definitely understand if Vita owners don't post a lot of shots. The resolution makes it a slight chore to post their whole structure.

I've done a ton more work on that place so I'll do a new screenshot of it later when I'm closer to being finished with it.

Awesome, thanks for sharing. I think I'll start by just clentaminating the hell out of the area around it with green solution. If that doesn't work I'll try the floating island.

Did some more work on the snow tower base. I set up some defenses at the fake doors and it immediately came in handy when I had a solar eclipse. I just step on a pressure plate nearby and it sets off all the traps that point at the doors.

Even with Thanatos's tips for getting Truffle to spawn, I still haven't gotten him to spawn yet :(

So. Awesome. Where/how do you get those real thick bricks? I haven't begun my construction yet, but all I have are the much smaller bricks. But very nice Grinchy, are those (well, the one on the right) dart traps wired with the stone blocks to create insta-barriers, while turning them on? Smart setup otherwise, I really need more traps to make my home safe during the invasions/sun/moon events.

Soon(ish), I will be posting mine. Still in the design phase, currently :(

Thanks! Those bricks are just ebonstone (when 2 of them are next to each other, they form one bigger looking brick). Have you made any progress on your place in the past couple weeks?

I ended up getting Truffle to finally spawn on Vita. If anyone's having issues with that still I'd be happy to explain more about that fiasco. I have all the end game armors now too. I'm getting pretty close to getting the armor trophy.

I've also tried making a world for the Corruptible trophy and holy shit is it annoying. I'm stuck at 41% now. I'll have to wait for a blood moon just so I can buy a ton of Rocket IV ammo so I can blast the shit out of the underworld and the huge dirt layer at the top of the world. Then I'm just hoping it'll take me up to 51%. The worst part about doing that trophy on Vita is that you can't just leave the game on overnight. You have to set the Vita up to turn off every 30 minutes (the maximum it allows) and just keep checking on it.

I think I'm done grinding trophies in this game. I spent more hours than I want to admit gathering armor sets for the armor trophy. Then I find out that most of them weren't actually needed. Now I'm looking at the pet list and it looks like 2-3 times more grinding to get them. The one where you have to beat the dungeon guardian is just absurd.

Did anyone in here actually manage to get the platinum or all the achievements?

Thanks for the Ebonstone tip, I'll be making tons of them here when I get back to it. I really haven't made much progress on my kingdom though :( I have a little bit of a design down, but since I was doing it at work, I keep getting sidetracked, and it keeps getting pushed back. Pluuusss I've been "given" a few games over the past few weeks that I had a limited time to play before I had to give them back, so most of my time was clearing those out. Just about done with my backlog, which I am very happy about, and that will leave me way more time to play GTAO, Terraria, and my fighting games I love so much.

My truffle fella finally spawned in my world also, but I had to create a second mushroom biome directly over my current home. He came pretty quickly, too, so I believe before I was too high up in the clouds, or too near corruption. Either way, I got the trophy when he joined up, but I still have one empty NPC space....I need to figure out who I am missing..

I feel I am starting to run out of ideas of things to do, but then I remember the armor trophies, pet trophies, and more...and I get a little motivation to play. I was starting to collect more and more mats, and I plan to get as many trophies as I can, but I dunno if I'll ever plat the game. Making the world hallowed or corrupt would be a MAJOR pain in the buns, unless there was an easy way to dupe money, so I could run around throwing magical powder on everything for hours..and hours..and hours....

I felt I was starting to get burned out on the game, so the little break did me good I think. I was spending so much time exploring and goofing off, I'm prett ysure I over did it. The need to create though is calling me, so I'll likely be diving back in soon. I really want to work on my kingdom, anyway..
