Poor Poorara. That entire skit had me laughing my ass off.

RIP helicopters *salute*

Another great episode.

I can't recommend reading the manga over watching either the show or the movies enough. While the movies have good visuals at points, nothing compares to how amazing the manga drawings are

Berserk? Definitely. It's astounding how he uses the entire page and hardly ever leaves empty space. Even where there would be empty space in a lot of manga, it's used for shading purposes in Berserk.

I think my memories of the original series (especially the first few arcs) helped me appreciate FMA:B more, since I didn't really need much introduction to the characters and the broader world. I know some people have complained about FMA:B glossing over some early arcs (which I chalked up to being a result of the first anime existing).

this is true. Brotherhood's first stretch of episodes seems to assume you have watched the previous series, so watching one and then the other isn't a bad idea. i would imagine going from Brotherhood to FMA, where you see the same story of that first batch of episodes stretched out further, would be pretty annoying. FMA is pretty flawed but i wouldn't say it's outright bad or anything.

Also
Nazis.

yeah, the movie is terrible.

Not related to these FMA measuring contest, but man I wish BONES have more great show in 16:9 era, their "best trio" (Wolf Rain, Rahxephon, E7) isn't 16:9 and their show since then is mostly polarizing to downright hated..

E7 especially I still regret the fact the show can't produced 3 year later or something, so close :(

More like people bitching over the inconsistency towards the manga and the butchered ending :)

Also gotta get that gif.

As I've said before, Brotherhood has a better ending. I even said that in my post.

What I stand by is that FMA has better pacing, openings, etc. Brotherhood isn't new people friendly. Some of the early stuff it glosses over or doesn't go into detail because it assumes people watched the original. For someone just starting out with Fullmetal, the original is the way to go.

Brotherhood has way better openings and Mustang is much more badass in Brotherhood. You can keep your wrong opinions though.

So much wrong in one post.

That's what I was sayi-----

Never mind. Jesus.

FMA > Brotherhood. I feel sorry for people who watched Brotherhood first and had the early moments ruined for them with a rushjob.

It's a different ending for better or worse. It's not mostly the same thing but poorly done like the Brotherhood intro.

I will leave this argument in your very capable hands. :)

hey, the only thing i disagreed on was that the ending wasn't bad

I was using your post as more of a general post to everyone else. I will never disagree that Brotherhood has the better ending. I just feel that the original does everything else better. I know some people liked the new art style employed in Brotherhood but I wasn't too fond of that either.

I disagree. While the beginning of Brotherhood is definitely rushed it's not so fast paced that you really miss anything, with the exeption of Yoki's introduction that's missing for some bizzare reason. I know it's anecdotal but my brother and a handful of my friends all watch Brotherhood first and they had no problem understanding anything. Also I think almost all of the anime original stuff from the first Fullmetal is kinda crap. I rewatched it for the first time in years a few months ago and it's nowhere near as good as I remembered it being.

I don't mean to be harsh but people who say FMA Mustang was better than Brotherhood Mustang must be living in bizarro world or didn't get very far in Brotherhood. How do you support an opinion like that? On what basis?

That statement should have the additive "comparatively to FMA".

I recently finished up FMA again and am currently going through Brotherhood again. I can say there is a lot of stuff in the original that had more feeling behind it than when they rushed through it in Brotherhood.
Barry the butcher moments, Shou Tucker, Scar murders, Nina, Ed passing the state exam
. All those moments done way better in the original.

Knights of Sidonia Ep. 7

Hoshijiro's death and the circumstances surrounding it are just perfect. The white haired guy's assholery is on a comical level.
I seriously don't get the logic in this show. They could barely handle one Gauna and then
they are able to handle a fucking orgy of them?
Whatever.

Besides the stuff with
Nina & Shou and Hughes funeral
I don't think the original anime did anything better than Brotherhood. Brotherhood handles Barry and Scar's storylines much better. Also Ed passing the the state exam isn't really a spoiler.

After the bizarro humor of the last episode, this one's kind of the other side of the coin: A sadder story that also
"humanizes" the Illegals into lost beings looking for a home, instead of the creepy cyber ghosts they're presented as earlier in the show.

I like how Denpa has sort of edged his way into being a main character. He was initially a random member of Daichi's gang but now he's slowly become one of the central characters.

This one sort of reminded me of that one Pokemon episode that ripped off that one Bradbury story.

Man, next week's nozaki should be pretty packed.

Looks like they're doing 3 chapters per episode from now on, which should be interesting pacing wise.

Hanayamata - 01

Decided to give this a look after firehawk12 made the claim that it was a show that both of us could support. If know firehawk12 and myself, that's a bold statement to make! First episode was really enjoyable. The main leads seem interesting enough, the purity is present, and the visuals are godly.

You win this round firehawk12! :p

??? Sdburton approved ?

I'll ... be right back !

Damn, didn't someone mention that manga just yesterday when discussing how terrible Knights of Sidonia is? What a coincidence.

I did. But it was more in reference to something lewd about Sidonia. Oh yeah, the piss-drinking thing.

I don't know how Prison School is going to survive adaptation to an anime though. LEWD.

As Fujino Kiyoshi starts his first day at Hachimitsu Academy he is shocked to find out that there are only four other guys in the entire school, making the ratio of girls to boys 200:1.

Sounds bad.

I don't know what Prison School is, should I be excited?

A lot of us in the manga thread wouldn't be freaking out over the news if we didn't have good reason to.

Admittedly the manga starts out pretty meh but holy shit does it escalate in so many ways.

I want to trust someone with a Soredemo avatar, but I don't know if I can.

It's also a story about how boys turn into men, through friendship and hardwork.

Also shaft is totally the perfect studio for this. Their greatest strength is adapting surreal source materials into animation and also excessive fanservice.
