Rise of the Tomb Raider timed Xbox exclusive for Holiday 2015 (No PS/PC, SE publish)

So Tomb Raider will sell badly on purpose? I don't get it, since it was a multiplatform title for so long now. Is the money worth it to piss off your fanbase?

It's madness. MS must of paid so much. Especially when Squeenix games have had bloated budgets and huge sales predictions. I remember Tomb Raider having to have the sales predictions reduced because they were so high.

This literally makes no sense to me right now

Well, is there's one thing they know how to do, it's money hatting and locking others out.
Not something that will ever impress me.

Instead of putting that money to good use and creating original games that would otherwise not be made, they continue with shit like this. yuck.

One less game to buy. Oh well.
Plenty things to choose on the other platforms to keep me busy.

Huge fuck you from Crystal Dynamics to half their fan base. Stay classy guys.

More like 2/3s, considering the game did well on PC as well.

Well, I was wondering when Microsoft would bring out the money to save the Xbone from its poor state of sales. Now we know.

Luckily for PS4 and PC owners so they don't have to endure the gruelling experience of murdering waves of enemies with shitty contextualization thanks to shitty writing.

Competition is good right guys! Fuck you Microsoft.

If you're going to make a new IP like Titanfall exclusive, fine, theres no fan base there that will miss it. Don't money hat a sequel to an established game. Its just shitty.

No way square, being not satisfied with the reboot numbers would allow this exclusive on XBO. How much did MS buy this timed exclusive ? Crazy...

Financially this is so crazy.

Didn't Tomb Raider: DE sell loads more on ps4 than Xbone?

Yeah, I remember it like that as well, even with the higher install base. Do we know about the PS3-360 split?

That must be one gigantic money hat.

Oh well *yawn*, will come to PS4 after x months and will be the better version anyway.

Buying time exclusivity (we can also call it "purposely delay the release of one version of your game to piss off your fans on that platform but hey, money") only works if people really believe it's an actual exclusive game. I don't think that works so well anymore after the 360.

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
Pretty stupid of Crystal Dynamics to take this deal. Wonder just how much money we're looking at changing hands.

Exclusive for Holiday 2015, pretty sure that wording was used for a reason. Also is this game cross-gen? I thought they said Xbox exclusive.

You never know guys, maybe Sony decided for you.

"We evaluated the Tomb Raider offering and decided that it does not bring the kind of value PlayStation customers have come to expect."

Im assuming that since it took so long to get their money back with the last TR game they figured 'Hey, we can get a tonne of money straight up from Microsoft for 1 year exclusivity, then bring a definitive edition out a year later for XBO and PS4 and make even more money'

That's a really strange choice for exclusive to buy. I'm not understanding Microsoft's thinking. It's a big game sure, but it's not a system seller, IMO.

Weird.

Oft hope is born when all is forlorn.
Was this announced as crossgen at e3 or current gen only? I can't remember.

That's a good point. I don't think they specified. Did they? but it was always assumed to be multiplatform because you know? for the obvious reasons lol

I actually laughed at this one.

I mean if square / crystal wants to lose fans of the series and money, that's on them.

Got plenty of other stuff to enjoy in 2015.

Shame as I'd have like to have played Uncharted and this but I guess I'll just have to wait.

Must have cost MS a pretty penny.

That is really short-sighted of Squeenix, with xbone being a non-entity in most of Europe. I guess they don't have much faith in the selling potential of this thing if they'd rather have Microsoft's moneyhats. I wonder how do you have to pay to get a AAA franchise of this sort exclusive, even for a time, on a struggling console.

I imagine something between $100 and $300 mill.
