Nintendo Downloads - August 2014

I have no idea why he isn't banned yet.

On topic: Totally looking forward to Mega Man.

For complaining about NOA? It's not hard to see that they are radically operated compared to NOE and NCL.

They held back super Mario kart as a way to announce Mario kart 8 bug fixes. Think on that a second.

MM6 and DD2 would make for such a great week if NES games didn't look like ass on Wii U.

I guess there's Xtreme Sports on 3DS still?

No?

They held back Mercedes DLC to announce bug fixes. Super Mario Kart just kinda...showed up.

Noa sux for Virtual Console, NOE sux for everything else.

You don't see people posting about how Captain Toad is 2015 there while in NOA is 2014

Just curious, anyone get a digital copy from NA Club Nintendo of Pokemon X or Y back in Feb/March? You had to register a 3DS or 2DS, and a copy of games like I think DKCR3D, Lego City, Weegee, Animal Crossing, and something else.

Well I had most of the games and of course a 3DS, but my 3DS code which I never registered, was lost so I couldn't have gotten the game. :/

Anyone have a spare of either? PM me if so.

Also, anyone know if the Nintendoland code from the ZombiU bundle works even though it's not on the eShop anymore?

Pretty sure the Pokemon code actually expired at the end of May.

I'm still sour about the E3 sale not making it to Europe, this is revenge. Hopefully Ocarina of Time and FEA get discounted next week, getting Kid Icarus and Tomodachi Life tomorrow.

Incidentally, did you ever think about importing a PAL Wii U and/or 3DS? Plenty of people do the opposite in Europe for cheaper USD prices and games like SMTIV, so it's not like you're stuck with just one option.

A you are asking if Americans import pal systems so we get to pay higher prices? Is that really your question? When translated into US dollars these "sales" are barely discounted, if at all.

That was the point.

Since the person he was replying to complains all the time about (among other things) Europe getting "sales" that the US doesn't.

so is EU really getting nothing today? I was hoping there would be some kind of games com direct but it seems to late for that now.

There are quite a few sales in addition to what tolkir said. Details should be in the OP and a recap post made once the "week" is done.

So with proof that even with a sale, games on the European eShop still cost us more than in America and the following...

Wii U Virtual Console Titles

...showing that the VC difference between EU and US is barely different and indeed better in some categories for US....

Can we please stop the "NoE is so much better than NoA, wah wah" bullshit now?

Edit: I should add that a lot of the best SNES/NES titles run poorly in Europe and are in fact the worst way to play those games, even compared to our actual old hardware.

I'd laugh if instead of getting Mega Man 6 today like most of us are expecting, we got a different MM game like Battle Chip Challenge instead.

Hold the phone, Atlus games on sale you say, I for one am shocked by this.

3DS has been having a fair few quiet weeks as of late, not even getting much on the VC front :(

Hmmm, think I might grab Scram Kitty on sale after hearing good things about it.

OH YAY, DONKEY KONG JR. MATH. TRULY THE ONE GAME PEOPLE CANNOT WAIT TO UPGRADE.

Atlus gonna have an Atlus sale.

Anyone heard or played Gaiabreaker? Seems to be a shmup which would interest me, but wow, google is giving me a bunch of bad reviews, which for a $15 game, makes me want to stay away, especially reading the controls (you gotta SWIPE the touch screen to move the ship? Not just....drag the stylus around?). Doesn't help even with the other control scheme, you have to hold the gamepad VERTICALLY....& then steer via Analog Stick, then shoot by pressing the D-Pad. Can't HOLD the D-pad, you have to press it every single time.

Looks like XType is the shmup to get this week

Great week for America. Actual VC games on the Wii U! Only region in the world this week. I'm sure nobody at all can moan at that.

Finally an Atlus sale. Stingey bastards.

Also, I didn't realize Layton vs Phoenix wasn't already out. Thought it'd been out for a months. Weird.

Dont get Gaiabreaker, everything I hear about it says it's a big turd.

Scram Kitty for $5 is tempting, but the lack of Wiimote + Nunchuk support is putting me off since I've never played a twin stick shooter whose controls could be described as "good". Nah, I think I'll wait for them to patch in pointer controls before buying it.

It's not that kind of game at all. You really just need a d-pad and a couple of buttons. It's actually better with the d-pad than the analog stick. It's more of a top-down platform shooter since you're literally attached to rails and required to do some platforming. (I don't expect pointer controls to be patched it, FWIW.)

Actually I'm back.

Do they really expect to get massive sales out of DK Jr. Math? I mean seriously? They would rather sell that than Metroid: Zero Mission.

You wouldn't buy it regardless, so why does it matter?

How about you try commenting on some of the games we did get this week for a change?

Well obviously. That's why I asked why are they releasing this when little to no people are going to buy it? Find me one person who is legitimately hyped to buy, download, and play DK Jr. Math

Hi, nice to meet you.

So where are we now?

You said you wouldn't complain on weeks that a system got more than one VC game.

He also said he wasn't going to complain going forward in general.
That lasted all of a week.

They don't but they have to release it sometime to get it out of the way. Maybe they're offering it as a Club Nintendo reward :D

Who knows maybe there is a good Indie coming out around then so it is better Metroid doesn't steal its spotlight. Also there is that retail release of some crossover game the day after which I thought would be a big thing...

I want to see pictures of you buying and actually playing it come August 28th.

Will you actually stop complaining then?

Anyway, I have it on NES and as an in-game game in Animal Crossing for GCN, but I'll be buying it again as well.
Pictures coming on the day it comes out.

Awesome news! I've been waiting for this to come out. My kids can definitely need some extra help with math.

One of the things I like about having it here is that the scores can be saved, so one can continually compete for high scores as well.

Will you do a play through video too? Would be all too easy for anyone to fake pictures of it.
