Mario Kart 8 owners who purchase both packs starting Aug. 27 will get access to eight new colors of Yoshi and eight new colors of Shy Guy to race with immediately.

This is a steal for those prices! Nintendo overcharged for Fire Emblem, but these are a ridiculously good value. Both of them are cheaper than the Mario Golf DLC, which many believed was a good value.

Yup. Nintendo has not made a single official announcement on their social media networks. Meaning that this was definitely a leak and they didn't wanted to announce this today. That's why they stopped selling pre-orders of the DLC. Wow...In all seriousness, Iwata must be real pissed right now. First Smash now MK... What if they were preparing a huge Nintendo Direct to announce all of this, the Smash stuff and release dates for their holiday lineup with awesome video trailers and everything. Now we know everything and once they announce the Direct broadcast everyone will be like "oh... ok". Dem leaks are dangerous and evil for companies, but a joy to us mere mortals.

12 bucks to add 50% over the original content. And remember guys, we were given a $60 game for free with the original purchase. So much goddamn value, I'm amazed. Mario Kart 8, buy of the generation.

It seems pretty late to be issuing a press release, too, but I don't know what time they usually issue them.

I still play a ton. Online, Offline, it's such a beautiful game.
Now for the next DLC pack who gets in? Pit? ZSS? Kirby?

I doubt they would have a big blowout of Smash, as I believe there are always a couple of characters not revealed before release. They can still do a Direct. The footage of Smash that was leak can easily be topped, and more details would be nice. We also haven't really seen what any of the courses look like in these DLC packs for Mario Kart.

Just get it over with and upload the Nintendo Direct with all the delicious leaked Smash/MK8 DLC details in video-form + specific dates for Bayonetta 2/Captain Toad.

Yeah someone's head (or heads) are probably rolling right now.

Personally I'd rather have the direct, it's closer to the release anyway so I don't have to have this excruciating wait.

Well, it's interesting and I'll definitely be trying it out. I would have preferred a proper Battle Mode DLC though. Considering how intricate this DLC seems to be I don't think that's out of Nintendo's grasp.
