Very good !
Pretty hard in later levels

One of the best puzzle games I've ever played. Seriously. It's really good.

It's a lot improved over the DS game and a lot of fun, with plenty of content. The biggest issue I've run into that I'd like to see fixed is that once you gain a certain amount of skill you can essentially keep combos running forever, but that's pretty much only going to become an issue if you go completionist on the game like I did.

Cool... sounds good. I'll grab it when it gets discounted in the next couple weeks.

Yes, it's a sloppy port with awful, floaty controls.

I'll go against that and say it's a fine port and perfectly enjoyable in its own right but the arcade version is better, so get that one.

As for the other Monster World games:

Dragon's Trap: the VC has the SMS original and the TG16 port (Dragon's Curse); both are pretty close in terms of content but the TG16 lets you save, so get that version.

Monster World: the VC has the MD original as well as a TGCD version (Dynastic Hero) which changes a lot of character/enemy sprites and music, mostly for the worse. Get the MD version.

Monster World 4: only one version, unlike every other WB/MD game; the 2011 release was the first time it was ever released outside of Japan and it included an all-new English translation.

There's also Monster Lair but you can skip that one, it's a weird sorta-followup to Wonder Buy that simply isn't fun.

Thanks for the info, guys. I'm looking forward to checking this series out!

So, how is Pokémon Trozei anyway? I love Pokémon... and I love puzzle games... but somehow I never bothered with that.

Meh. The game lacks variety and the Pokemon element is underutilized. Winning requires very little skill so it can get boring quickly.
The only bit of ''challenge'' comes from fulling specific requests to get certain Pokemon to appear; use a super effective attack, long combo, high score.
OK, there's that one stage with Unowns and endless mode but other than that the game is the same from beginning to end.

I'm a big Pokemon fan and do not recommend it.

Ah well, guess nothing can be liked by everyone, haha. :p

I'll give it a chance since it's on sale anyway.

might get FEA if the discount is good

3 save files on my cart is killing me. Deleting one of them is like erasing a part of my soul I can never recover.

Preview of the upcoming sales. Doesn't seem to be all the deals though
Week 2:
Fire Emblem Awakening
Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap
Sonic the Hedgehod (3DS)
Mega Man X

Week 3:
Pokemon Battle Trozei
Pokemon Rumble U
Wii Fit U
Metroid (Wii U & 3DS)

Week 4:
Animal Crossing: New Leaf
Pikmin 3
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
Pac-man & the Ghostly Adventures (Wii U &3DS)

Cool, I might get Minish Cap and finally bite on Sonic 3D. I wasn't going to bother with the 3D Genesis games (except Outrun, get it over here already!)

I know it's there to show off the feature, but I still think it's hilarious how the Curtain Call demo lets you organize songs alphabetically or by game, yet there are only two songs to organize.

Physical master race representing for Bayo!

In other news, I might be able to play Shovel Knight soon? How grand! Pity its gonna be during the busiest time of the year for game releases now instead of when I had literally nothing new.

JENOVA Ultimate Score with the stylus is awesome.
Great update to the series.

Title theme is awesome too!

EDIT: Hybrid is a recognised control type too. Neat.

So I chipped in $1.50 to upgrade Nobunaga's Ambition. I never ever could get into it before, but you know what? I'm actually having a good time this spin around. It's still tough as nails and really slow, but I'm really into it somehow.

Sonic 3D ain't going on sale, the sale is for the shitty Game Gear game.

These are my wild-ass guesses for what games get put on sale, with the ones not confirmed in bold for easy mockery:

Week 2: Wind Waker HD, Ocarina 3D, Fire Emblem Awakening (hopefully with DLC), Kid Icarus Uprising, Sonic Lost World, Sonic Game Gear, Mega Man X, Minish Cap, F-Zero

Week 3: Pokemon XY, Wii Party U, Wii Fit U, Metroid, Pokemon Battle Trozei, Pokemon Rumble U, Super Metroid, Metroid Zero Mission, Streetpass games

Week 4: DKC Tropical Freeze, Pikmin 3, Pac-Man Ghostly Adventure, Animal Crossing New Leaf, Star Fox 64 3D, Dedede Drum Dash Deluxe, Kirby Fighters Deluxe, Donkey Kong 1/Jr/3, Pac-Land

Again, I have no advance knowledge beyond what Nintendo Canada showed. This is strictly my best guess based on what we know.

With the new 3DS coming, I'd consider buying a digital version of Uprising. That game was so much better than I thought it would be. It really delivered.

Oh man I hope you're right about the StreetPass games. Been waiting for them to go on sale since they were released and STILL no luck so far!

Sonic Game Gear in confirmed? I thought it just said Sonic the Hedgehog with no system (what would be funnier than Game Gear would be a Wii U re-release of Sonic 2006, do it SEGA).

Well any of those are better than Sonic LOL world going on "sale" which is what happened in Europe.

Edit: Danmit. It is Game Gear. I was only joking in the other thread :( Poor Sonic, can't get a good sale.

Been playing a little of Cubemen 2 so far, and really fun so far.

Good to know.

I have to complain again about the fact that the eshop indie games thread was closed, because in here there is so much lack of info and impressions about the indie games. All the discussion is either around what it is (not) on VC (although there is a a dedicated thread for VC) and discuss how good or bad an eshop sales is. I really miss that thread.

Combined with the lack of reviews I find myself quite blind when comes about buying indie games. I like what I saw of Cubemen 2 until now, but some impressions are always welcomed.

Wow, I don't know if it says more about Nintendo's lack of releases these days or my status as a Nintendo fan but it's never good when there's a 4-week multipart sale and you own every single game on it already.
Okay, not Pacman. Still.
Just bought Minish Cap last week again, too. Oh well.

Interesting thing about Cubemen 2 is that it is entirely touch-controlled. Even menus. But it works. Navigating and the zooming in takes some getting used to, though.

Haven't downloaded it yet, is it any good? I love the first game, and I'm thinking of buying the sequel despite not having finished the hardest difficulties in the first one (only beat it on the easiest one). I really need an excuse not to do it!

Both Minish Cap and Mega Man X are on my Wii U VC wishlist, so I will jump in next week! Might get Fire Emblem digitally and replace my physical copy.

Gaddamn. Good thing I just gotta brand new harddrive for Wii U...

Holy cow, even a Deluxe Wii U with nothing on it can't hold both games.
It's crazy how much 2nd & 3rd party games footprints are compared to Nintendo games. I'm still in utter disbelief that Mario 3D world is less than 2GB while Wind Waker HD was only 2.5GB. It's insane.

I tend to hold off on VC game purchases late in the month sometimes just to see if they'll be offered during Club Nintendo refresh. This sale came out of the blue for me and a lot of people, so I can understand why folks probably purchased some of these games recently.

Ehhhh you're forgetting that most first party games do not have a lot of video in them.

The reason DKCTF is huge is because of all the video in it.

It's not nintendo doing anything special, it's just the games are truly all about gameplay and don't need erroneous video.

Some people really did not like how poor quality the Mairo Kart 8 credits video was. Personally I'm all for poor quality. Videos I don't watch taking time to download, space on hard drive are annoying.

I'm not forgetting anything, and Tropical Freeze has a very negligible amount of CG. I think it's more to do with Nintendo actively putting effort into having games take up a small footprint and making use of some nifty compression tricks. Unlike other devs who just slap things on a disc and keep it moving. For example, there's no reason for Resident Evil Revelations to be like 14GB. Seriously.

With this logic, get the game on a disc. The digital version shouldn't be handicapped just because of speed and space.

Raw gameplay is the exact same, but it has all the songs from the first one in addition to several new ones (Demo says "Full game has 221 songs") so it essentially makes the first one obsolete. They also added button controls for the songs apparently, but I haven't tried them out.

Best thing about this version is that they got rid of that BS requirement of having all your characters unequipped in order to reach max score on the songs. You can SSS-rank songs regardless of equipment now.

Why? Code doesn't make up all the gigs. It's pre-rendered HD video and (sometimes uncompressed) audio in multiple languages. The rest is just HD textures and code. Look at a folder of high res pictures on your computer and compare it with a folder of HD movies and FLAC rips of a double album. See which is bigger.

Wind Waker only has a music track and sound effects, same as 3D World. They use in-engine cutscenes and thus don't need 3h of HD video for cutscenes or 3-5 languages worth of dialogue for the story sequences.

lol I've been playing Theatrythm since it released and I never even knew about having to be unequipped to receive the maximum score. I thought "S" was the highest anyone could achieve. Oh well, better late than never I guess.

FF Theaterythm makes me remember how bizarre it is to have so little demons on the WiiU eshop =/

Don't worry, once Bayo2 releases, there will be plenty of demons!

Demos have actually been proven to make a game sell less. So they not only waste time and effort/money making the demo, they actually cost more in long run too.

How is the Wii U Pacman game? It's already $20, so for $10-$15 on sale, I'll bite even if it's mediocre.

It's not a broken, unplayable mess is it?

I just did a bizarre thing. I got another Premium Promotion €5 code and used it for ... Splinter Cell Blacklist DLC. Figured since it will never go on sale anyway I might as well make it as painless as possible and use the free Premium Promotion moneyz.

Didn't expect to get a free download code for backing Mighty No.9 - but I did, and have no use for it since I already bought Azure.

Sooooo..... who wants it? PM me if you want a free copy of Mighty Gunvolt!

Edit: And it's gone to the Jet Jaguar!

There have been a lot fewer demos on PS4 and XB1 compared to last gen too, right? I don't have one of those consoles yet but I often hear people complain about the absence of demos.
