Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Miiverse Update Thread XVI

By withholding characters from them unless they get the WiiU version?

I dunno man

I see witholding peoples ability to unlock characters they may or may not want to play as so Nintendo can advertise something as extremely filthy.

We can always wait till the next Smash for new characters you know...

Unless I'm wrong, people are talking about adding characters to the 3DS version with (probably free) DLC at the time the Wii U version drops, not hinging their unlock on purchasing the Wii U version.

At least, that's what I'm talking about.

If people want to unlock things as fast as possible, shouldn't they just go with the number of matches method? 1 stock kill yourself. Of course, by this point, with so many characters unlocked already by most people with the game, I guess it's hard to confirm if that method is even still there.

It's one thing to withhold them from the game and sell them piece-meal later.

It's entirely different to withhold them from one game and put them in another. I really wish there were more characters in the Wii U game. Why would everyone not want to buy a Wii U and Smash Bros. anyway, if at all possible. ;)

But I agree it would be pretty filthy, only because they already said the rosters would be the same. Can't just change your story like that and not make anyone mad.

Did anyone bother to check if Luigi has indeed two identical color swaps? Green/Blue?
I really want to know if it was a famitsu mistake or if it's really there.

I was thinking of skipping the 3DS version... but I want to fight 9.0 Master Core. That thing looks awesome, and it doesn't look TOO intimidating. A lot of its moves are heavily telegraphed, so with a character who can capitalize of the pauses between them, yet get out of the way fast when it's attacking and it should be possible to win it pretty consistently.

Thinking Ness, Samus, Robin, or Zelda would rock this thing. Good range game and a way to get out of there or a charge attack that you can power up between attacks so you spend as little time unable to shield during its attacks as possible.

Maybe they don't want to be boring as fuck for themselves and viewers...

God, Master Core's entrance animation is brilliant. Seeing a Hand just explode is just fearful and awesome.

But rather boxes with a character saying "Coming in DLC Pack X" like Mario Kart 8? :p

Note: The above is a joke, not based on any inside knowledge

WHAT DO YOU KNOW

They could always unlock the characters in the 3DS version 2-4 weeks after the Wii U version drops. I mean, hypothetically, if sales is the goal it might force a few people's hand. Hypothetically, of course, because I don't think that'd actually happen.
Imagine the backlash Nintendo would get.

It won't happen.

So, like, has anyone figured out what makes Dark Pit any different than Pit? Are there any differences at all?

Everything looks similar, except for the final smash. It looks like he has slightly different weapons in his normals. I'm guessing it's going to be a situation where he has different sweetspots.

or maybe the characters weren't done yet for the 3DS release.

Besides it is something Namco has done for ever.

People just need to accept that the roster is the roster. There are no more characters. There is no DLC.

Yes, it's a bit disappointing, but it's not like it's the first time that's happened.

guys, like, I really need to play on Magicant.

Like, right now.

That is the epitome of Earthbound nostalgia distilled into gooey heartwarmy twitterpattering and I cannot believe there was that much love poured into it, right down to the RECRUITING THE FLYING MEN, Dungeon Man/Sky Runner platforms and that kickass Mother 1/2 memory dimensional rip. I was seriously about to cry when I heard Smiles and Tears playing.

It's Sakurai came out "Okay, the biggest mistake we made in Brawl? No, not tripping, but how we cut Smiles and Tears. Get that shit in there."

This could very well top Onett for me. I need to know what plays alongside the Magicant theme, too.

Dude. You haven't proven this.

It is possible it is likely, but stop saying it like it is fact until it is confirmed. There are many different variables that could make this statement completely untrue.

No DLC sucks (never thought I'd say that), but I wouldn't call the roster disappointing.

Or just simply unlock the characters on the 3DS when the Wii U version comes out.
"I dont get to unlock myself the remaining characters I want to play as with friends for literally months because screw you Wii U version"

Yeah thats fair

And there's also DLC after both games come out.
Im 99% sure itll be comsetic stuff and MAYBE a mode and nothing more.

Nintendo has been doing DLC a lot lately, so it's not impossible.

It looks incredible. Definitely has the touches previous Mother stages were missing.

My best hope now is that once all characters from the leak are unlocked, a message comes up along the lines of "You've unlocked all of the characters! For now..." so we know it's not over.

But I'm totally fine with the roster as it is. Great stuff, only thing I'm really missing is ICs.
