going to tank so so hard. Seriously who is going to care for Watchdogs in November ? I know a few on here will reply with "I am" but you will make up list of about 150K WORLDWIDE.

If it's full priced you should probably reduce that to half quarter.

Heh. I guess I'll buy it when it hits 20 - 30€ or something, nice that it'll actually come out. I don't think anyone will bother at full price though.

And boy will they be in for a shock when it doesn't work on their Wii.

Hahaha XD

On topic: I suppose Ubi decided they'll have a better shot at Wii-U owners' wallets in the holiday season. The whole WD Wii-U situation is freaking odd, but I suppose it makes some sense from the business perspective.

That, or they gave it their interns to port.

If it was $40 reasonably optimized with that Bad Blood DLC plus some other bits of preorder bonus DLC included, I'd bite.

But no, it'll be $60 with no DLC ever, even paid, and will run worse than the PS360 versions.

~20K November sales is a very good metric for what we should expect from Watch_Dogs Wii U launch sales.

Worldwide, right? 20k sounds too high for just NPD.

I was all-in for the Wii U version before the delay but I ended up buying it for the PC and it's nowhere near good enough to double dip. Pass.

Well if you remember, Watch_Dogs sold 1.23 million copies in late May, and 0.62 million copies in June.

That's 1.85 million copies in its launch period, comparable to the 2.9 million copies from Assassin's Creed 3 and 1.8 million copies from Assassin's Creed 4 when you take into account that Watch_Dogs launched in May.

Considering the fact that Watch_Dogs Wii U launches in the Holiday season, combined with the fact it's been marketed for the Wii U since 2012, I wouldn't put it past Watch_Dogs Wii U to see a similar launch to its Assassin's Creed performances.

So ~15K sales isn't completely out of the question.

In January, i picked up a couple of bargain bin 3rd party games, like Splinter Cell, Injustice, Deus Ex HRDC and Mass Effect 3... all for about €15 each. Considering WiiU isn't going to see anymore 3rd party games from that caliber, i might pick this up when it drops down in price. No hurry, 3rd party backlog won't be growing anymore on WiiU. Just bought AC4 from the e-shop for €15, and with my current backlog, i'm not tempted to get this when it releases. Unless it exceeds all expectations, is far better than the PS360 version, includes DLC and for a reasonable price. Then i might bite... so chances are slim, lol.

meh, you'll only have to wait 45 days or so before it's less then 15 euros.

always surprises me when people say games like just dance/rockband/guitar hero 'don't cost a lot to make.'

or any other game that heavily uses music licensing and has a for-purchase music store i take it.

those songs can cost millions in royalties when all is said and done

Well, im pretty sure cost of Just Dance vs Assassins Creed or Watch Dogs are not comparable. Songs license can cost money yeah, but the visual background doesnt required a videogame architect ...

I can really not see this thing sell well. Even if the game is technically good and not a cheap port.

Perhaps if they launched it along the other versions the Wii U version had some decent or good sales. But now you can read all over the internet how boring the story is and how repetitive the gameplay.

Just Dance has certainly lower development costs than Watch Dogs.

But not very low. They practically make a new music video for every song with new scenarios and new dance choreographies. These video are quite good (at least in JD 2014), sometimes more creative than the real music videos of the songs. They must pay the creative people who made this. And they must pay much money for the song licencing.

Everything about Ubisoft is odd. Consider the following 3 recent statements from Ubisoft:
A) They say Watchdogs is their last mature game for the Wii U.
B) They say that they are sitting on a completed Wii U game, which they aren't going to release until the userbase picks up.
C) They say they still intend to carry on releasing casual games, eg Just Dance, Wii U.

From point C, the inference must be that the sat-upon game cannot be a casual game, but if that is the case points A and B are contradictory.

Maybe the completed game they said they were sitting on is Watch_Dogs, which would clear up the contradiction and explain the delay since they didn't do anything meaningful with the Gamepad.

How are A and B contradictory?

They have said all along that Watchdogs would be released, whilst at the same time saying they have another completed game they are holding back until the usebase picks up.

It wasn't going to sell well no matter when it released.

The completed Wii U game is a casual one, but it is exclusive, as opposed to Just Dance which is multiplat so it gains money from more platforms.

What are they thinking? Ubisoft makes no sense.

To me, it looks like a company working to meet a contractual commitment. For example, Nintendo may have given them marketing dollars for Zombie U, and in exchange they promised to release AC and WD. Then, they saw the writing on the wall for Wii U software sales, so they shifted resources away from that version. But they have to release the game or there's a penalty, so they've kept a small team on it to finish it.

I don't have any insider knowledge, but I think my guess is a real possibility.

If magically Wii U picked up in sales considerably and mature-rated games such as Watch_Dogs do surprisingly well, I could see Ubisoft trying to release some late ports of cross gen games that Wii U will miss due to the current stop of mature-rated games on Wii U. They didn't completely rule out that a mature rated game might ever come out for Wii U, just not as long as it is not feaible. So it could be a mature-rated game and it's just very unlikely for it to release. Also, not all non-mature-rated games are casual. Rayman Legends for instance is neither casual, nor rated M.

Yeah, I suppose there is that.

So not only is the game delayed they arent even using the gamepad more than just a map! What happened to all these statements they made that the Wii u gamepad is perfect for Watchdogs. That they could do so many things with the gamepad due to the nature of the Watchdogs gameplay. This is pathetic, i rather have them cancel the game than release it as shovelware. Its a good game getting a shitty ass treatment.

I was actually going to wait and play it on the Wii U, but it was on sale for $42 on Xbox One with deals with Gold and I went ahead and snagged it. Nice to see that they still intend to release it, though.

Not really, it's not like first party releases like MK8, Smash Bros or 3D World had some great use for the gamepad.

I said "I think." There's a lot wrong with this release already but one of the few redeeming factors people were pulling for with the Wii U version was that Ubisoft would at least make good use of the Gamepad for hacking, camera control, etc.

so now this is a few days after GTAV smh I won't have time for it :(

damn Ubisoft, Smash WiiU + GTAV in November means no money until Jan.2015
I don't think Treehouse will be showing this during the stream today

I would say that it is being sent to die by releasing on Nov 18th, but it won't sell at all regardless of it's release date, so it doesn't really matter.

Around the same time as GTA V PS4/XB1 and possibly right before Smash Bros Wii U. People who want an open world game will likely go for GTA and Wii U owners will likely go for Smash. This game is dead on arrival.

I want an open world game in a modern setting for my Wii U so I will buy it. Day one. Full price. I am glad that Ubisoft decided to go through with releasing the game for Wii U, and I am happy to get to play the game.

It is unfortunate that Ubisoft do not wish to release more games of this type for my Wii U, but I can understand it as a business decision. Still, Watch Dogs is coming. I shall buy it, play it, and enjoy it.

You develop a game around carrying a cell phone and hacking and you use the gamepad for a map?! Way to shovel it onto the console in the laziest manner possible.
i sincerely hope that this game sell like 0 copies.

i know it's impossible since some non-sony/microsoft-owners would buy it.

i just hate ubisoft so much right now for their decisions, i hope it would sell like 50 copies worldwide at maximum.
it was a game + console match made in heaven for god's sake... it's the resident evil 4 + wiimote nunchuck controls... way to go ruining a gamer's dreams, ubi...
