GamesMaya's report:

- Smash Bros had a slow start in the morning in this shop. But in the afternoon it was a mad rush. Big Hit, a lot of people were in the shop.
- Great week overall, starting with Destiny and ending with Smash.
- The Bundle PS4+Destiny is sold out, and the PS3 version too. Next shipment for the 17th.
- Smash Bros was sold out too. But the next shipment is planned for this week (so tomorrow??). So a long waiting is not needed.

Apparently, Japan doesn't give a fuck.

Smash 4 3DS is only going to get a day's ranking right?

For a game like this though, the weekend is the most important anyway. Definitely should have no problems doing >500k if the hype is so strong imo. Either way, going over a million is just going to be a matter of days.

Those lines for for Smash look massive.

1 million first weekend would be crazy. Hell, 800k+ would be crazy.

I'm hoping it does well :)

It's 'only' medal related.

I couldn't remember the number but thought I'd name-check it to give some perspective as it's been number one ever since release.

Ah so that's the 3 medals corocoro mentioned, 3 more hissatsu medals. I'm hoping they are bundled in next months issue but i have heard mention of a buying service so im thinking most likely you'll have to fill in a postcard & send cash with it like they made people do with the 2nd tomodachi fanbook.

These ones might be a pain to get hold of for my collection, i'll keep my fingers crossed.

Wonder how many bundles there was for the first week. PS4 over 30k next week? Over 40k?

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
sinobi:

Smash initial shipment possible to have been 800k.

If it's sold out since yesterday, that would mean doing as much Brawl did in its first 4 days...except SSB 4 would've reached it in just one day.

Over the same 4 day period there's no way Smash4 doesn't outsell Brawl considering it is already sold out and expecting a new shipment soon.

It's very possible that today sunday shops recieved a new shipment. I don't see any sold out in Bic Camera in Shinjuku. Even Destiny Bundle, PS3 version and Dragon Quest X have stock (they were sold out yesterday).

Be aware that Monday is a national Holiday in Japan. So the shipment should be ready today to avoid stock problems tomorrow.

SSB numbers aside, I'm also interesting in seeing how much the 3DS will sell this week (decline might be prevented but by how much?) and how YW2 is being affected by SSB.

Really good call from Nintendo to make a 3DS version. I'm not that convinced as something for me as player and I will get Wii U version for sure, but really good call.

Thanks for the pics! it always cheer me up seeing Japan getting interested in console stuff these days.

Apparently Attack on Titan Chain can be purchased as an update off the eShop, so that might depress sales in terms of Media Create/Famitsu.

I excluded the new game by Epcot given it doesn't even have a title.

Famitsu estimates eShop sales, so that's not a problem.
Wouldn't they get estimates just for the download version in this case? Or did they already have a similar case (update that was also available at retail)?
Ultra Street Fighter IV might have been in a similar case I guess.

FFXIII helped push the PS3 to 237k for that week. Destiny is a much bigger title with a $500 million budget. I think the PS4 will do 250k easily!

It dosn't matter if it has a 500$ million budget a big Japanese ip will always be bigger then a big american ip.
I don't see more then 10k boost for ps4

At my local EBGames, smash bros 3ds is the most preordered 3ds game so far.

yeah games gonna be huge, this is the culmination of the whole Nintendo fanbase supporting one game.

regarding japan, smash 3ds can easily beat brawl's opening, only depends on nintendo/retailer shipping.

???

I'm not sure what the context is with this conversation but I'll like to chime in. I think you're right but wrong at the same time.

There's no doubt that Destiny is the bigger title with its budget but we're talking about Japan here. I'm sure that the Japanese First Person Shooter streamers I see on Playstation live is only a very small percentage of the first person fan base in Japan but for Destiny to be bigger than the Final Fantasy series no matter what the budget is and to expect it to move more units than a Final Fantasy game is.... Well... Highly unlikely.

I would love to be proven wrong just so that the PS4 can have a heartbeat in Japan until the Japanese centric games start coming out.
