Sorry to say but it looks like your mental health isn't what it used to be.

Nope, sane as ever. Did a little more digging and I realized that all the missing game were from the steam directory on my second drive. Somehow, steam spontaneously forgot that it was a directory for steam games. As soon as I pointed steam towards the directory again, it suddenly remembered my games and populated my games list with them again.

Weird.

Same could be said about Deadpool.
Nah, there's no way Marvel and Activision actually signed a six-month deal for it. It must've been massive delays with no contract extension or Deadpool was part of some package deal, like how Fox owns the movie rights to any and all characters that are "mutants" just because they bought X-Men. Neither of these can possibly apply to Korra.

yes

Deadpool was only around for about 6 months before they pulled it

I would imagine, though, that Deadpool was part of a longer-running general Marvel or X-Men license that just happened to run out soon after that game's release. There's nothing to the Korra license but Korra. I wouldn't expect the terms of that license to be that short.

I'll post this in here as it's not really a performance related find or something most screen shooters want on their pics but if you let Shadow of Mordor handle your resolution scaling (more over to scale down) then the UI is displayed at the resolution either your desktop is set to or in the freak cases the highest resolution available to you system (I've got some crazy custom res' and none showed up). So what does this mean? Well there's been a couple of games that have decoupled the UI elements from the internal 3D rendering as of late so you can still get a crisp UI whilst dialing back the resolution the game renders in so you have some flexibility for your hardware, So a system with a display resolution on say 1920x1080 but couldn't really power that could scale the resolution back in game by what ever % down to 50 and still have the UI displayed at 1920x1080. So it's one less sacrifice.

like Jase said:

Acti's financial year follows that of the calendar and so every January it voluntarily ditches any licences it doesn't feel are worth keeping.

2013: James Bond (valid until 2014) and Blur's vehicle licences (valid until ????)
2014: Marvel (valid until 2017) with the exception of Spider-Man due to its agreement with Sony to develop a tie-in to TASM 2 (and presumably also TASM 3)

Witcher marathon finished. What to do next SteamGAF? Mass Effect marathon (i finished ME1 and started ME2 couple months ago)?

Do a marathon of 1. Then MAYBE 2 if you're into cover shooters (I'm not.) If you cared about and are invested in the characters and your decisions, skip 3. Otherwise, go ahead with 3.

you got about 6 hours to decide if youre going to get Mordor on the cheap from nuuvem or not. I'm struggling myself, but i got enough to play as it is to jump in just yet.

I never understood the allure or even gameplay. If for example you have a "level" where you drive your truck from Amsterdam to Rome, is it a shortened version or is the level actually hundreds of km?

Well shortened as in driving 1km in game isn't the same as driving 1km in the real world. But it does take like 30m+ for longer trips.

Great game to just unwind after a long day at work.

I have Alien Iso coming next week (thanks Jawmuncher!!!!!) plus, I always go on a horror game spree in october so i'm probably going to finally play DR2OTR to get my zombie fix.

Don't forget FFXIII releases in 8 days, too, and since I know all of SteamGAF has a copy, we'll all be playing that anyway.

I'm on the fence about Alien, I want to wait for actual impressions before I decide whether or not to get it. I hope you enjoy DR2OTR.

Humble Bundle beats Valve to the punch: http://gamasutra.com/view/news/2268...ted_storefronts_with_Yogscast_partnership.php

The Humble Bundle organization has launched a curated version of its Humble Store digital game storefront in partnership with the Yogscast YouTubers, who select which games are sold through their store and then get a cut of the sales.

The partnership is billed as an effort to help people find and play the games they see the Yogscast YouTubers playing, and the business model is much akin to the Humble Store: 10 percent of the proceeds from every purchase goes to the War Child charity, 5 percent goes to Yogscast, and the rest is split between Humble and the developer.

The game is so cheap, might as well pick it up immediately to show support for Platinum on PC :p

I'll probably just end up picking it up due to Platinums involvement, but I have reservations about the quality of port and the game itself.

We've hardly seen anything about this game.

So, yeah, just snagged Sleeping Dogs Definitive for ~$9.65. Pretty great, as I haven't played any of the DLC (never went cheap enough for me...) but really enjoyed the base game.

Does the DE have any visual improvements for the PC version over the original or is just a bundle of the original?

The other one they were going to offer people instead also had to fire half their people and the game is delayed, so... yeah.

apparently working with those guys is like a touch of death for gamedevs

It's supposed to have some visual and tech improvements, but it remains to be seen. I'm more interested in getting the DLC relatively cheap, but if the game looks better and runs better that's an added bonus.

For less than $10, I think it's well worth it.

Yo shadownet, are you getting 60 FPS in Sherlock Holmes C&P? Cuz I get like 20-50 FPS at max settings+Low shadows @_@

Faces are nicely detailed and look good though =O

I've been playing so much Shadow of Mordor I only booted up Sherlock once. But I'll let you know on Steam once I finally get a measurement.

Speaking of FPS. Anyone know a good program that measure your FPS while playing?

Guys, today I was awarded a $500 scholarship from my college.

With Alien:Isolation and The Evil Within right around the corner and the new Nvidia 970/980 cards hitting the market, is this a sign?

Should I put my current GTX680 out to pasture and use this money the way God intended?

I know it's more of a PC question but my Steam brothers and sisters have taste and not just hung up on BIGGER numbers.

I just posted this on another thread, but I've come to realize how strange my tastes are.

Yeah I have Fraps and it works OK for that kind of need ;)

Steam In-Home Streaming. :p

I also found something interesting out while streaming some Mordor yesterday. For whatever reason, In-Home Streaming would cap my framerate at 50 FPS if I used the in-game downsampling, but if I turned it off, it would stabilize back at 60-62 FPS (which is the cap for streaming, I believe. Never been able to get it to stream at higher FPS before).

It's not a power or network issue, either. Power-wise I could dump all of the settings down to low, turn the streaming quality to 480p Fast (i.e. as ugly as humanly possible) and it would still cap at 50 FPS. Network-wise, I've got plenty of headroom judging by the In-Home Streaming logs.

Anyway, I just thought it was strange. Kinda sucks that I have to stream it at only 1080p, but such is the tradeoff for playing it on a large screen on a comfy couch.

Hm, if you'd ask me about this game when it first launched I'd say it's gonna be a trash but with so, so many fans and people praising the game, it clearly must do some things right.
But I totally get the unwinding part. I use music + Solitaire for that. Probably my most played game ever, hah.

what's cool is that in ETS2 you can listen to podcasts or your music through the in-game radio, as well as numerous online european stations... the experience is real

That's really cool. The devs clearly know their audience.

Wow. Aren't those the guys who "lost" half a million Kickstarter money and cancelled the game without refund? And I remember them having a similar deal with Space Engineers. I can't explain but I am against stuff like this. Sure it can help games to be known by a broader audience but at the same time it makes groups like Yogscast more influential and powerful than I'd like personally. I already read of big youtubers "demanding" free copies of games or bad "opinions" would follow. And Yogscast especially is not very trustworthy/likable because of their past stuff in my book. But what can you do? It's an easy way to reach a huge audience after all. Can't blame devs or Humble.
A good alternative for devs would be if Valve could finally bring themselves into making a separated, highlighted, permanent and very visible section on their startpage for new stuff, forgotten gems, generally games which do have no means of big PR etc. In my opinion Valve is doing not enough (or almost nothing) on that front. It's nice to see many niche games and devs striving on PC but I feel many get lost under the wheels of "big", hyped indies and the ever-present AAA media(money)-barrage.

I still don't understand how Yogscast got so big off of the back of just Minecraft videos. At least that's all I'm aware they're famous for.

Guys, today I was awarded a $500 scholarship from my college.

Should I put my current GTX680 out to pasture and use this money the way God intended?

I know it's more of a PC question but my Steam brothers and sisters have taste and not just hung up on BIGGER numbers.

Well I guess it's really all down to how you'd like to spend your money at the end of the day but there's a numbers based approach and a features based one as well.

Speaking off money and getting better value for it a 970 may be a tad slower than a 980 but it's more than capable in anything available today at 1920x1080 and should be for a while yet so it's indefinably the best bang for you buck. The other sort of numbers relating to performance would be that a 970 is on average would deliver between a 60-80% increase in frame rate, some games even twice as much. So you could use that to judge how worth it is for you.

Features wise though it has all the nice benefits the Kepler cards had like you 680. So recording videos and streaming to an Nivida capable device as possible as well as having hardware encoding on the card itself so you could take advantage of that in Steam's In Home Streaming. But there are some other features exclusive to the newer Maxwell cards for the time being like Dynamic Super Resolution which is like a for of super sampling where you render the game high than you native resolution to decrease aliasing ie jaggies as they're know to some and a newer way of handling video memory.

So really it's a little bit more of the same with a few extra features but with a fair bit of extra performance. If you need that in some of the games you play now then you'd see a benefit and stuff coming out in the future you'd be semi sort of prepared (well it is the unknown most times how a game will perform). One thing I'd have a look at though is if you're planing on seeing your old 680 is to have a look at how much they were selling for a while back before the new cards released and how much they are now. Just so you know when the right time is to not lose out on what you could sell it for or if the prices are plummeting or staying stable.

Of course getting some info from so of the folks in here who have upgraded recently could give you an idea if it's worth it or not. Good luck though.

Yeah it sucks. It's just another $6.65 to get all the other DLCs while on sale but lame they haven't come out with a new bundle for it.
Granted the sheer amount of content for those 6 extra DLCs is pretty mind blowing... especially at the sale price.
To be fair, most of the DLC not included in the GOTY edition was released after the GOTY edition came out. Not sure why the Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2 wasn't included in there though (it came out one month before the GOTY edition).
Yeah, I can't say Gearbox is stingy with value. But wow, I own even less completely what I initially thought?!
Thank God most is only skins. But the ones you mentioned earlier Cookie, yeah they seem worth it. I seriously forgot about the possibility of extra-goty dlc, so thanks for the heads-up. Wishlisted.
