It does. Graphically it's in a league of its own for racing games. The weather looks particularly incredible. It's a shame it won't be there day one.

Weather is already in the game, it just isn't dynamic weather.

The patch coming out after launch is for dynamic weather.

No, it doesn't. It's as simple as this. Stop and ask yourself the last time you can recall a game shipping with several basic features of the genre missing. Then throw a nearly one year delay into equation. It's an odd set of circumstances to say the least.
Yea, disappointing, but at least the game looks fun and looks better than any racer on the concoles so far. Day one.

"Several basic features of the genre". I don't recall any other racing games having a weather system as realistic as Driveclub's or a photo mode as deep as Driveclub's. Sure replay should be there at launch but everything else in the game is of a quality we've never seen in gaming. Also, each individual car takes 7 months to finish and they've put so much attention to detail that real car manufacturers have asked for Evo's recordings of their own car sounds.

You can't judge the game based on much lesser standards and then go on saying that it's taking too long. Quality takes a long time.

A company being excited for their new game is a huge slap in the face to all the fans that liked their old games.
I mean download ghost from a friend or fastest player in the world and race against him.

Yeah. It's all instant and persistent.

EDIT:

Why do you think I haven't progressed through the game yet and I'm ranking up quickly? I'm just trying to beat ghosts.

Watching that PSNation stream.....GOD DAMN this game looks amazing.

I've seen every screenshot and video I can find and I still can't get over it.

GOD DAMN.

GOD.

DAMN

Yeah and if you outclass your friends the game gives you ghosts that will challenge you, even if you are the top player (from playstation stream).

It's a little strange that after a one year delay all these features have to show up via post release patches.

Replay and Photomode aren't fundamental features, and not exactly unique selling points.

Why would gawking at yourself in replay mode validate what you just did in a game that tracks everything every player achieves at all times?

It's a waste of time.

So does this game have a rewind button?

Hearing it still has that shitty Motorstorm rubberband AI is a huge turn off so I hope it has this to level the playing field a little.

It's different for everyone. I actually love replay mode because when you have that "perfect" run or make some nice passes, it's really cool to watch it in a broadcast style presentation mode and just put the controller down for a few mins to sit down and marvel at what you just accomplished.

But I wouldn't call it "fundamental" as obviously the real core of any racing game is...the racing.

Somebody should tell that to Meteorologists around the world

I know TECHINCALLY clouds or anything is weather but that wouldn't even be worth him mentioning to the person; it's just obvious. "Clouds are in the game." Well, duh, lol.

"Weather is in the game, it's just not dynamic" to me implies that some tracks will have rain or snow or something but it won't just start at some point or fade in and out and whatnot. It's kind of misleading.

DriveClub does NOT have the rubberband AI from Motorstorm. Evolution (Rushy) has been clear on this topic.

There is no rewind button.

Yep. Even if you're the top dog the game keeps you on your toes with the constant face offs. It's the twitchiest way to farm exp points I've ever seen...

It's like... here comes this turn OH SHIT DRIFT FACE OFF... Nailed it. Come out of the turn CORNERING FACEOFF ...Naile-- shit... Ok, next, AVERAGE SPEED FACE OFF, oh, I know this guy, I kicked his a- WHAT?! How the HELL did he get this fast here?!

Basically.. >.>

6 Destiny OT (almost 120,000 posts) vs 1 Driveclub OT.

And what does that have to do with anything?

I wouldn't call that weather.

If the time of day/sky conditions change, it is weather. Forza 5 is a game with no weather.

And Driveclub's weather is "dynamic" since day 1 - there are night/day cycles and the clouds move and change, since they're also simulated.

What the patch brings us is rain+snow.

It seems to me some people don't know the difference between drafting and rubberband AI.

Since I've never played Forza for anything other than about 20 minutes I've never quite understood the appeal of a rewind function.
If you fuck up, you fuck up. Deal with it. :p

No there isn't. Even the director confirmed that there's no rubberband. We've been talking about it for PAGES now. PAGESS.

Anyway, no rewind button either, would love one though.

Share button, bro. :p

Who uses replays anymore?

Seen a few comments about it having rubberbanding from early players but if they are going out and saying it doesnt then that has me hopeful then.

And any racing game in this day and age without a rewind button is a shame. Maybe its one of those dumb gameplay patent things.

Forza has track temperatures. Is that weather?

I believe GRID was the first game with this feature. It was so popular it's become common in a lot of racers though.

Definitely misleading.

Is this going to be the driving game that scratches my Initial D itch? I mean, am I going to be able to drift all over the place?

Obviously there's the Initial D games, but they're not readily available here.

I picked up Forza Horizon 2 this week and the first thing I did was turn off rewind.

Real drivers make up for their mistakes, not erase them ;)

With all that and the windshield and windows stay in tact??? I thought cars took damage? I swear I saw screens with car damage or is there a option to play without damage?

Regardless, cannot wait to get this game. Having Forza Horizon 2 and this game will be bliss. One is an open/go anywhere racing game and the other is more traditional track based racing game. Bring it on!!!

Yeah. Looks great and bad at the same time,

Would love to see at least a cracked windscreen :-( ....

I swear to God I'm starting to develop Stockholm syndrome with this game's theme song:

"How fast do you wanna gooo???

I believe GRID was the first game with this feature. It was so popular it's become common in a lot of racers though.

The problem with this though is Driveclub being heavily online centric around clubs as well as instant challenges for best drive, best corner exit, best top speed on a straight, cleanest lap, etc

A rewind function would be an antithesis of these challenges that can happen on the spot. Implementing such a function would mean people would game the system and rely on it for every screw up and thus a distinction between truly clean laps and those that used the rewind would be made.

Worse still it means a player isn't likely to learn from his mistakes if he relies on the rewind all the time and he doesn't need to worry about slowing down on the corner to smartly handle it in learning the track because that bail out button is there.

This sort of Racer doesn't need a rewind function.
