How difficult is it to buy in game the pre-order bonus car packs after launch? My plan was to play the PS+ version of the game and if I like it upgrade to full version, but if the three preorder bonus pack cars - McLaren 12C, RUF RT12, and Mercedes SLS AMG - are only obtainable if you preorder, might just drop the $50 now.

PSN NA is also running a special, if you spend $100 in store from Oct 1st - Oct 28th you get $15 back in the form of store credit 2 weeks later.

You dont have to worry those are just skins for the cars.

Those cars are still ingame.

At least a thread like that would divert possible shit out of here for a while though, haha :p Okay, I won't make one, but I'll post my prediction anyways: 76 give or take one or two points either way. I think some critics are really going to like it but I could see the possibility of lack of content or a heavy multiplayer focus being a bit of a downer for some. I'm pretty confident in saying Horizon 2 will be the best reviewed racer this fall.

Still very excited for next week though.

Horizon 2 is pretty awesome though going to be hard to top. 55 tracks is nothing to scoff at in terms of content.

Man this has to be the most defensive OT thread i have been in. All signs point to the game being good, lots of hype etc... but still so much pre review damage control.

One or 2 bad reviews dont matter.

With it being a brand new IP that went through development hell and hasn't released a lot of news in the way of features and other details (I like to think I've been following this game pretty closely and I still don't have a good grasp on what the social aspects of this game are and what kind of events will be in it) I can't say I'm surprised people are predicting it'll review poorly. Add to the fact that most of the cooler stuff like replays and weather won't be patched in til later and I can easily see this getting 'meh' reviews at first.

Agreed. Someone said on the Game Informer podcast that in FH2 it's a fantastic looking game with a great map and everything, but when you play it you just look at it and feel like "Ok, what now?". I have a feeling DriveClub will be exactly that as well, maybe more. Sure, you're getting points and racing against people on pre-defined tracks, but what do we do now and how long will this be engaging?
I'm very curious.

No reasonable person is going to criticize this game's car count. It takes months to model one of these things. Driveclub is a new IP. It doesn't have the luxury of being able to use old assets.

You would think they'd be able to take a dump of PD's premium models and then convert to a format Evo can use, and then tweak/tune as needed. Would still take a while but surely less than building from scratch.

Forza is showing the clear benefit of sharing assets and engines and I think Sony needs to start doing something similar. Even if it is just car models that would be a big start. Having two parallel teams making the same objects twice over is just inefficient.

snow gifs needs a cockpit view. The best (worst) thing about driving through snow is how the snowflakes splat on your windscreen and obscure your vision way more than rain.

They had direct manufacturer CAD data for most of the cars in the game, so that's something, but I do understand your point.

Have they been asked why there hasn't been any asset sharing with Gran Turismo? I assume Polyphony have some decent quality assets. Maybe they're only licensed for use in Gran Turismo.

I'd Hope that they now are sharing assets and we have a benchmark for the minimum quality here with Driveclub, assuming Evo continue to work on this kind of Racer, rather than a motostorm or twisted metal etc.

DAMN @ that new gif. The twilight w/ the light snow and melted puddles, is eerie... It gives the sense you are in the middle of nowhere, isolated.

Sharing assets with PD would be brilliant. If there's one thing you can say about Microsoft, they definitely handled the Turn 10/PG situation excellent.

Sony would be definitely better off having this kind of exchange between Evo and PD.

Kudos to whoever thought of this.

"When I look at Driveclub I think about photorealistic paintings. It's a painting that looks like a photograph, but then why not just take a photograph? Where's the artistic vision?"

You are right man, I will be back, hopping into my Ferrari for a ride around town taking pictures.

when the HUD is off i would have wanted the map to be located on the NAV screen or make it a heads up display type thing

FYI, you can turn off all of the hud, or choose individual hud components to turn off. You can also set opacity of all components. I know that's not quite what you are asking for, but it would be possible to have everything off, except for the map.
