[US] Bloodborne Alpha details now going out

So is that some kind of horrible giant spider fly monster or is it just some kind of horrible monster.

I vote for horrifying whatever the fuck it is, and NOPE.

Afaik no. But I'd love to be wrong. I would think they'd want to do a gradual testing thing and add more people each day they're doing it, but I don't think they did for the Dark Souls II beta. =/

I think for the alpha they let a certain number of people in. The beta opened to a lot of people if I remember correctly. Hopefully the beta then!

This game looks great!

Only thing that kinda bums me out is that I play the Souls games as a magic user.

These games don't have magic, is that right? It's just melee mixed with the gun you have?

Oh well, no biggie.

Fire your gun right when the enemy is about to hit you for riposte, backstab requires you to hit the enemy from behind with the charged up attack of your weapon.

FIghting the big axe guy doing that is kind of a pain and I feel like there is no other faster option when you're using twin blades. Makes bullets so much more important than I realized .

I do that and nothing happens. The big guy gets on his knees and I press R1 but there's no animation.

Ugh I really hope they make that bridge larger in the final version. The camera is the only thing that makes the boss challenging.

I really like it so far, but this camera against the boss... I can't. All I can see is his big hairy arm and nothing else. I've gotten to him with all the weapons and thats good enough for me. I think a lot of times when people complain about cameras its never actually all that bad, but this is infuriatingly bad.

Edit: Just beat him, for some reason he just stood there doing nothing while I did like 80% of his health.

I'm liking the new backstab and riposte system but some different animations would be nice. I liked that each weapon type had its own animation in the previous games.

It took me a while, but I'm making strides in "unlearning" the Souls games to properly play Bloodborne. I've tried all four builds and really like all of the weapons. The hammer/sword, though, is just too damn satisfying not to gravitate toward.

As others have no doubt stated, my main concerns at this point are that the framerate is stable and the camera is better-tempered. Vision is just too damn obscured during the boss fight.

But really, the aesthetic/atmosphere... oh man. The level of tension is through the roof -- in a good way. As far as pacing is concerned the combat is definitely faster than a Souls game, but that doesn't mean that patience isn't required to succeed. Picking your spots and approaching encounters intelligently is still at the heart of this game.

Oh yeah, and of the concerns that it would be too easy. Dead and buried. Even in this short preview, this is a difficult game to be certain.

...and with that, I think I'll be going into complete media blackout mode on Bloodborne.

Cleric Beast fight is a lot easier without locking on. I only locked on when fishing for a headshot stunlock with my pistol. otherwise rolling around him with the camera staying on you is how I think they intended you to do that fight.

someone said it earlier, there's a lot of unlearning that has to be done here I think.

I honestly think the should zoom out the camera as a standard just for that boss fight. It's pretty hard to know what's going on when the camera decides to zoom all up in the fur.

I'm sure this has been already mentioned, but I was watching a Twitch streamer glitch into a new area. There's a boss at the end
and he says "Umbasa!" after defeating the player.

Does Bloodborne
take place in the same universe as Demon's Souls? Only the Maiden in Black knows.

I played a bit yesterday.

My impressions were:
- The game looks amazing
- Combat is fluid
- Theres framerate drops from time to time but its alpha
- I liked the dedicated healing button
- backstab attacks seems to have been removed
