Did anybody managed to dowload the android app yet? Can't find it on the store but saw news that it was out.

Yep downloaded it this morning with a link from a previous page, was going to post it again but it gave me a "URL not found".

But servers are down, so it wouldn't do you any good at the moment.

So after playing the first 5 events I can see why some reviewers had issues with the game.

The gameplay itself is great but the game does not do anything extraordinary. I am not saying the game should be open world as most of the reviews are implying but the game does not seem to have that "it" factor separating it from the rest of the racers out there.

Gran Turismo has a huge collection of cars and events available in addition to being known for its ultra realism. Forza Motorsport has endless car customization options and also in its Horizon spin off added open world gameplay. I think reviewers docked points because Driveclub doesn't bring anything new to the table.

In my opinion though the car handling is among the best I have experienced in any racers, the graphics also are among the best I have ever seen in the genre. The AI is aggressive and also gives you a nice challenge.

My only gripes with the game so far is the soundtrack could have used some variety or more licensed tracks. The techno/house music all sounds the same. Also the tour mode itself does not seem to be that lengthy based on the menu showing all the available stuff.

For me personally it is an 8 because the gameplay and what is there is solid.

What is wrong with the gameplay? According to every GAF impression I've read in this thread, the handling of the cars is amazing.
It is good AI is not dumb will cut you off hold driving lanes be aggressive

Game is beautiful and above alllll else it's fun even if lacking on some parts the game is fun and in the end thays what the gamer has to feel and thing when playing

It still feels kind of weird that the weather system isn't in at launch but it's going to be pretty awesome to get that huge addition later on. I feel like it will keep the game fresh.

How are people even comparing this game to Knack......waht. These reviews are really pissing me off. All I know is that I'm getting it and I know I'll love it. You guys are loving it too from what I've read so.....I think most can disagree with these reviews.

sorry....just wanted to vent outside of the review thread.

Loving what I've played so far. It looks really good in motion. But one question, I can't seem to get a grip on drifting properly. Of course I'm also fouling things up thanks to playing FH2 for the last week as well.

Someone got a tip for how to properly drift in this one?

Fuck the reviews man. Game is super fun.

Can the triggers be set up as throttle and brake?

This way by default

I'm trying to figure this out too because I am terrible at it. I feel like when I let go on the throttle, I break easy and then hit O. Just messing around with things

Why are reviewers complaining about driver assists?

Am I wrong or are the flags on each stage designed to replicate a braking line for the tracks?

If anything the best talk/review so far of the game ..
Feel the same way about it do know photo mode is coming so is weather and they may add even more

But would give the game a solid 8/10

Just too arcadey for my tastes. They did mentioned its a mix of both...but it's more really, drift on every turn and get away with it. Car sound is not existent basically, very disappointing if you compare to other racers.

I play a ton of racing games and this one has left the best first impression on me by far. Played until 3 am last night because I couldn't put it down. People need to start fretting about reviews so much

Nine out of ten orphans can't tell the difference.
Someone compared this to PGR... do I dare dream to play a racing game as fun as PGR again? Someone tell me.

Pretty much. Brake a bit to get a good speed, let go of the gas, start turn, press circle, keep steering in to turn while giving some gas.

It gets a lot easier when you get farther in to it. The cars I was using before I stopped could slide around turns by just using the regular brake and not the E brake.

I still cant understand how it can be negative for a game to have mostly european cars.
Does that really make you not buy a game ?

No logic or reasoning, only soul and feelings /s.

They are, and apparently the smoke indicates the next challenge.

Ok that explains a lot because I was doing that quite frequently in the first races and not scoring many drift points. I'll wait til I get further in and see what happens.

The game is solid 7.5 to 8 IMO
After they update with weather and few changes i would say 8.5 to 9.

After this and Destiny, I am done with mainstream reviews. I decide for myself.

My
very early
impressions

Sooooo I was able to play a few races early today and I'm planning to ditch work early today to get into DC all afternoon lol...

+ As other have said the racing / gameplay does feel very tight, sitting very nicely between Sim and Arcade
+ The sense of speed is incomparable
+ "Corridor" racing is exactly what I like and need from a racing game (just like old NFS')... select a track, a car, and you're racing in a easy-to-read course... plus add awesome loading times on top of that and you're on an event quicker than you can find that one event you're missing in Burnout Paradise or NFS Rivals
+ Graphics are amazing as we've all seen so far
+ Contrary to some reviewers, aggressive AI is a plus for me... and I couldn't really sense rubber-banding such as Motorstorm's

... As some reviewers have pointed-out, it seems the game really takes off once you're done with the 'Tour' and you start focusing on the challenges, the clubs, and regular MP.... Unfortunately the servers were down so I can't comment... It really feels like you could end up putting a lot of hours into this game, and while I did enjoy NFS Rivals in some degree, I quickly left it behind; we'll see if DC is that go-to racing game I need installed on my PS4 HDD at all times.

Wait, are the car sounds really that bad? It seems like that's always one of the weakest points in every racing game. Why can't they ever get it right? FH2 would be great, except it's extremely inconsistent.

What? No. The car sounds are amazing.

I need a club. Anyone have one with room?

Yeah I have no problems agreeing with that

Solid 7.5 to 8 and after adding the photo mode weather and hoping replay lol kinda weird how this game makes me want replay lol I would give it a rock solid 8 to a 8.5

Game is fun and a blast to play so I won't complain if some random person asks me hey how's DriveClub I would say fun man should get it and it will get better in the next 2 moths

Watching the Giant Bomb quicklook, seems a majority of the well-informed games media didn't even realize this is an arcade racer. And even despite realizing that it is an arcade racer, they can't reconcile that with the fact that it has a realistic visual style. Their brains are apparently incapable of understanding how that is possible.

I mean, Jeff Gerstmann even mentions how the game came with a pamphlet explaining to game journos that you can e-brake drift corners like an arcade racer, and still he doesn't understand why it was designed that way, and name-drops Gran Turismo in the video several times.

Watching it now and it's definitely weird.

I'm loving the game so far. Quick question - how were the reviewers really able to experience the social aspects such as clubs, challenges, unlocks. I guess they all could have grouped together? Such a big part of this game and I'm loving that (when the servers are up).

After about 5 races I must say I am enjoying it quite a bit. It's intense because you are never too far ahead or to far behind so you always have to be on your toes. The graphics are great but you don't get that impression with the very first race they throw you in lol. I'm a bit disappointed that you don't get to control the driver before the race and actually walk into the car and start the ignition. I thought this was a feature way back when they announced it.

Easiest way to add DRIVECLUB-GAF's friends?

Through mobile app? Think it's quicker than PS4 lol.

Yes, and look at your "what's new" section for "player x has made friends with 10 people". If you go in their you can scroll through and add players quite easily from there.

And yet so many people put so much stock into them.

Car sounds are great ..

I did have to go to settings and bring the music level down to 50% it was overpowering the game but car sounds great when u get into cockpit view and you hear the engine can't say they got it wrong driving the Audi A5 the same car I own I can tell you sounds alike .. (Even if no game will ever compare to the real thing)
They got The sound right and if they got the A5 sound right I'm sure they got the high end cars down

The fact that they even need to do that is sad.
