This game was the last straw for me. I'm never bothering with reviews from strangers anymore. GAF impressions and personal research is all I care about going forward. Find out as much as you can on your own. There's no shortage of media out there. And there is the PS+ version.
The free version will not be available until the normal store refresh tomorrow afternoon. The full game and PS+ upgrade unlocks at midnight (or 1 AM some places).

Thanks! Just saw that the upgrade is "currently unavailable", so I guess I'll wait and try it out before I buy the full version.
Also, why would anyone buy the full version for full price when the upgrade is cheaper?
Same, I've got it on Steam but only played about an hour of it. Will be nice to really sink my teeth into it on PS4 with trophies, remote play, and lazy couch support

The slick UI, the menus, and the very little load times getting a race set up. This is a new standard IMO and the kind of stuff that PS4 and XB1 games should be from now on. This kind of speed and presentation brought together weren't possible on last gen.

The PS+ Edition will be available on Friday, indeed.
The PS+ Upgrade and full digital version will unlock at midnight.

It's back now. I checked out the store via a browser, could be why it messed up. Seems like the upgrade only works with the PS+ game though, so I'll might as well wait until it arrives tomorrow.
I'm a bit confused -- if I buy the upgrade now, can I play the game tonight? Or do I have to wait until it drops on PS+?
We aren't 100% on the design/modes of multiplayer yet because the servers are down. But I do believe you can join sessions together and race others.

There are people in the review thread who haven't played the game trying so hard to cherry pick reviews and justify some of the unfair criticism leveled against it. I don't even want to comment in there.

Nope, if you buy the upgrade you get the full game immediately available for pre-load.

I like looking at their review history (by clicking on their name). I remember in the Destiny user reviews I saw a guy give the PS4 version a 0, and the XB1 version a 10. Wonder if he is fanboy of a certain console?
The videos I have been watching look better than what I am playing.
I'd assume there are behind the scenes "flags" for each event that they can tweak to put them in. Devs in general have been getting better at this, for both updates and DLC. I REALLY hope it's the sort of thing where they pair up the stage in a championship with the severity of the weather. So like, the last race in a series will have storm systems kicking in, and the earlier races are closer to clear skies. I love overlapping visual/gameplay "narrative" for things like that.

Exactly my experience with the game. It really hit the sweet spot and came together really well. I didn't follow the game too much prerelease. I saw what I liked and left it at that. I like to keep my hype and expectations in check. I wish I hadn't. It would have been so nice to have taken today off and just sit back and play. Maybe I'll do it another day when the servers are actually working.
I love the one that talks about missing shadows which will be patched later on, quoting an article which is clearly about the fact that the "missing shadows" are realistic, as seen in this thread.

Sorry, then. I shouldn't have taken such an accusatory tone. I just am not sure why it looks worse for you, to me it looks just as good as everything I've seen, if not better. Maybe it's something to do with your display?

Just did an 8 minute race on one of the Norway tracks. Sense of speed is ridiculous and I'm not even using Supercars yet, much less the Hypercars. Controls are so good.
Lighting is incredible as well. The progression even with a x15 modifier is so natural.

(not trying to start some game war) Forza horizon 2 looks fantastic on my TV, this game has a lot more scenery going on so that could be a contributing factor to the lack of smooth motion I'm experiencing.

Yeah, I am testing a few things right now. This is the very first batch of test, done mostly to see how colors will look on the glossy cover.
Will play around with more when I finally can in a few weeks.
I don't know what you were expecting but what I'm seeing is exactly what I expected, and I'm watching from streams at the moment! (UK).
It's completely on point to the footage we've been seeing over the last few weeks. Those screenies released a week ago were an anomaly and were probably tampered with.

Not sure then =\ FH2 looks great on my TV as well but DC is also spectacular. Maybe it's just a personal thing. I haven't noticed a lack of smoothness, the 30 fps seems quite stable.
