Hah, wow, that's a Sherlock game? They look like Dark Souls environments, especially the second one, haha.

Soo...... How's the performance in Alien?

I have a gtx 670... Should I be okay getting 60fps? :D

Aye you should be fine with that. 1080p. It's not a very high-end heavy game. It seems to scale a lot of things with LoDs. Like shadows for example and it does it really well. Plus it's mostly small areas.

Think that's me done for the Alien screens for now.

The fact you can disable CA directly in the menu in Alien earns it an Instant buy from me (But using shitty low quality FMVs instead of real time cinematics is a notch against it. FFS it's 2014). This effect is an unholy abomination 9.99/10 times. The one time i've seen it used in an acceptable form is for that new MMO Black Desert. Which only manifests as subtle fringes within the DoF based on various factors. (Well that and potentially Crysis 3, but that's really pushing it. Why would this billion dollar suit have such a poor sensor/lens for the visor?)

Even Nvidia's use of UE4 to prove the moon landing had such an obscene amount of it. Ridiculously so. The ORIGINAL photograph has nothing of the sort.

Why people have the obsession with replicating the most horrible ultra low budget consumer camera lenses is beyond me.

Console games should have the option to disable this kind of crap. I dont' know why they don't let people toggle effects more. Several games of the last generation and even the original Xbox generation did. (IE: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2x and the motion blur effect which if I couldn't disable would've made the game unplayable for me.)

Shit, some of it could even help improve performance overhead.

I don't know what went wrong when I tried it, but my screenshots I grabbed with F12 in SoM all had the HUD apart from 2 of them. =/

Here's one that did work and one that didn't. The only difference between them is that the one without HUD was grabbed at 4K while the other one at 1080p.

Any way to disable the HUD in Alien Isolation?

From guru3d:

You can use -benchmark as a start parameter to launch a performance test.

Also when tweaking FOV it seems to be vertical instead of horizontal and the first-person body model disappears if you go higher than 55.

EDIT: Other commands.

-benchmark
-skip_frontend
-vsync_at_30
-debug_text_enabled
-debug_text_disabled
-no_ui
-makemovie
-realtime
-stats
-disable_hdr_scale
-about
-paused
-extra_shadow_lights
-disable_exit_debug_entity
-capture_cutscene
-fixed_time_step
-noperf
-perf
-fps
-level

Haven't tried it yet, but I suppose it works.

CE table over on DET should help you out there.

Enable script. Then press Q. Hud goes away. Thank K-Putt for that :)

Here's a single screenshot of Alien Isolation while I'm here. I loved the lighting. Downsampled from 4500x6000 to 1440x1920.

I don't think I'll fully commit to playing this game until I'm finished with Mordor. I'm still having a ton of fun just screwing around in that game. Some of the captains\warchiefs are so difficult that I have to craft some pretty wonky scenarios in order to kill them.

It only works when downsampling

Rumor has it that it was a debug feature that was left in by accident and could be removed in a future patch. Might explain the funky behavior.

I created a HUD toggle with cheat engine, but it only removes the bases stuff (minimap, objectives display). Trying to remove all the HUD elements was becoming way too time consuming... =\

Those are nice Remember Me shots, but would mind using img tags instead of the combined url tags? I can't seem to click the shots to bring them to 100% without launching the external site.

How do I do that? Sorry, not too good with this stuff.

EDIT - Nevermind, I think I figured it out. I am going to go back and change them. Didnt realize it was doing that and it is definitely annoying.

EDIT #2 - There, I have changed them all to IMG tags. Thanks for pointing it out. I never bothered to click my own screenshots because I already knew what they looked like

I 100%d Shadow of Mordor and have already started up Alien: Isolation, but I'm still enjoying the hell out of all these screens. Great work all around and great ports too, visually.

I hope they come to their senses and just fix so it's always HUD-less instead. :p

All games should have this functionality (preferably a photo mode, but that's a lot to ask for), it's free marketing if people take nice looking screenshots of their game. It's not like there's not enough buttons on a keyboard and you need to make room for something more important.
