There's already a thread for this, but it looks like this one is winning out. I think we should permaban Mix anyways.

Whoa, how did you do that? That trick would really help get me through the rest of this month's coverage, haha.

This dude on reddit (/u/Mintograde) has been doing it since last week. Use plugins on Firefox/Chrome. I used to use Orbit Downloader to do something similar back in the day. He uses Flash Video Downloader.

Just look at 1:33-1:37 to see how bad the registration is compared to EVERY other Halo game.

Absolutely.

The lack of Hitscan on weapons always was the biggest issue with Halo 3. I thought dedicated servers would at least alleviate the problem, but doesn't seem like it.

Yeah, it makes the BR feel clumsy and unsatisfying.

Still an amazing game, though. <3

Halo 3 still surprises me, some stunning work from Bungie, holds up.

Not a great selection of footage though.

Thanks, now I can watch it without stuttering! Based VLC.

Hmm... it looks like Halo 3 isn't quite locked in at 60 fps. I noticed frame drops in the video that weren't caused by my player.

It wasn't the camera shake and flashing? There's a strobe like effect with the turret.

It's me or in the video in the MP part specially some spread of BR does not work on the enemy? Also I did not remember that the lights of the warthog go off when you are outside the tunnel too.

This game hasn't aged well at all.

On the contrary, I think the NPC faces are the only thing that's going to stick out like a sore thumb.

Kept trying to find jaggies, couldn't. It's like my fever dream version of the game I played back then where there's actual native resolution and antialiasing.

My number one issue with Halo 3, right there. Was upset at the time that photo mode was being put across as what you'd see on your screen by hype-induced posters when it was anything but. And now, its not only true but running at 60fps?

Can't wait.

Those few hours I spent wondering why the hell my TV was showing those jaggies, only to realize it was Halo 3 that was the problem. Such disappointment, could not unsee.

What I loved about Halo 4 was that when someone quit mp someone else could join in mid game. Is this in all the games or just 4?
I do not miss the 8-4 BTB of old.

Am trying to remember where I saw it but I think Halo 4's join-in-progress was a casualty of unifying all the game's multiplayer modes into a central menu system.

And yeah, it made a huge difference in making Halo 4 so damn playable. If you were outnumbered you could usually hold out until you got reinforcements. I'll miss it if it is indeed gone.

Edit: yeah, Googling it shows quite a few hits that join-in-progress isn't in the MCC at all.

Maulers back in mp? Dunno if I really like that. Gonna be honest though, I miss 1.0 where melee sent your enemy flying across the map. That was hilarious.

I realize I'm opening myself up to extreme ridicule here, but is anyone else thrown off by the 60 FPS? Maybe I'm just used to years and years of 30 FPS, but I get the same feeling watching this stuff as I do when the "motion plus" soap-opera effect is enabled on TV. Just feels weird to me. Maybe it's different actually playing it.

Regardless, really looking forward to this.

what? Maulers were always in MP.
I'm pretty sure they were taken out of mp with one of the patches. Unless I am misremembering.
Edit: I double checked, they took out/swapped most maulers but not all with that patch.

Good. Huge problems w/ that system.

Honestly, this is stupid and will date the games more than jaggies or sub-resolutions ever did. Being outnumbered in a mp game is just a BAD experience regardless of the age of the hardware.
It is not a problem. It improves the competitive nature of the game like comp in CS. I think it is a mechanic that discourages teamwork and communication.

Thanks for mentioning VLC. Much better experience than the IGN player.
