Sunset Overdrive Coming To PC?

Status
Not open for further replies.
They didn't publish either of those. EA published TF on all platforms, Crytek self-published the digital PC version and Deep Sliver published the retail version.

Dude, they make money off the PC versions. If you help or fully finance the development of a game you get money off it's sales regardless of platform.

Because somehow PC makes the game great and interesting. Go check every other thread for this game, people talk shit about it just because its on X1.

Well I can counter that since there were a fair few people including myself who were interested in it when bantering in the Steam thread. Perception of the game hasn't changed except for those trolling the thread.

Oh what? It's one of the worst for that price tag.

Even a 100 bucks Linux receiver has more multimedia features and apps.. And with an external hdd you can record all your favorite shows.
And this is just a small selection, there are hundreds of channels / portals you can add
mediaportal51dn3jc7ubew.jpg

This is kinda of-topic so I'll avoid going into it too much... but games are media too. So, when you combine its gaming abilities with it's other media functionality, along with it's ability to do many of these things alongside each other. .. it can for many people be a much better option than separate devices that do each area better individually. Like comparing having an iPhone vs a Cowon + Nokia 3310 + some camera. You could buy the other three cheaper than the iPhone alone, but that wouldn't make it the better option for many people.

I love how the PC gamers are never banned for saying such things but when console gamers say things likes "I hope it doesn't come to PC", they get banned. Oh god, what a bias.
What are you going on about?
  1. The post you are quoting is a joking reply to a joke post. This should be obvious to everyone.
  2. The poster saying "Hopefully this never comes to PC." hasn't been banned.
So you are complaining about a joke post based on some imagined inequality the opposite of which has been demonstrated in this very thread.

Sweet, now show me what the integrated TV signal looks like in that $100 linux receiver. Oh, wait...

I actually did, I said I hope FF Type 0 doesn't come to PC and I got banned for it. I admit, I should have said why, less platforms means the other platforms will get more timed spent on them. Even if it is a joke doesn't make it alright, I've seen tons of these comments where they just go off on Xbox, they are truely disgusting.

I also don't get why people are still going on about this, the ad indicates that it is coming out to PC at the same time which it isn't so you know it's an error.

What's the problem in here if they need the okay to put it on PC. That means MS wants it on PC, so whats the issue

No, they don't. If they're not the publisher then they get zero money.

So even if they funded Ryse and DR3 they get no money from PC sales? I doubt that.

This has been the norm since last gen actually.

Confirming it's a mistake doesn't confirm it's incorrect.

Surprise, after being shown devs denying previous XB1 exclusives would ever go multiplatform, people like yourself continue acting as if a denial means anything other then 'not right now'.

The thread just become a port begging thread and I have seen posts for other xbone games s well.

Port begging other games was banned even when ryse was announced for pc

Console warriors losing things on their lists is what's the problem.

A PC version might make this game playable control wise, no surprise the movement in the game is so slow considering the fact that you can't have decent camera / aim control with an analog stick.

so now this is just a very blatant port begging thread.

It's borderline port-begging but MS has indeed created a precedent for their exclusives going multi-plat (in this case PC) when MS doesn't own the IP.

So, if there's no confirmation that the game will "NEVER" be on PC in the foreseeable future and eternity I can see why mods (whom are very active in this thread) let the thread slide. What's been confirmed is that the advertisement is a mistake and that the game is console exclusive. There is no Press release saying the game will "NEVER" come to PC. Even then you see the words of Capcom meant little when the bottomline is what matters.

I just want fucking publishers/developers to be up front about this stuff. I've got a pre-order in for the game and the white Xbone (for a really good price, a little under £310) but I wouldn't have that if this was coming to PC, I'd wait. Same with Scalebound, if that comes out on Xbone and then gets a PC port later I'm gonna feel like I've been cheated because I'd get it on the Xbone but obviously want to play it on PC for better graphics/hopefully performance (though it's a Platinum game so might not be the best PC version).

I get consoles for console exclusives be they Nintendo/Playstation/MS exclusives or just only on consoles (though this is happening less and less) and it feels bad when I get a game on console or get a console for a game only for them to say "lols we're coming to PC now too" like a month after release.

When you say game movement being so slow, is that based off that dodgy webm?

Even if it came out on PC it seems like the kind of game I'd play with a controller. Although if they decreased the auto-aim, maybe not.

There will be no more AAA games if that happens, since exclusive games are the reason we have AAA games.

I'm basing it off official footage and some extended footage here and there, it's slow as shit to be blunt and it's obvious why.

No. Its a thread that shows there is a history of X1 exclusive going multiplatform even after outright denial by the developer of said exclusive. But carry on console warrior.

Again.

Remedy. Alan Wake. Remedy IP owned, MS funded. It took a WHILE, but Alan Wake was self published by Remedy and is on steam.
Ryse. Crytek IP owned. Crytek can publish on Steam. Easy. Self Published. Makes more sense that Crytek is in the shitter and needs the cash.
Dead Rising 3. Capcom IP owned. Though MS funded it, Capcom has say on where they can take said IP. Cacpom has a good standing with steam. Easy. Self Published.
Sunset Overdrive. Insomniac IP owned. Funded by MS. Insomniac has /none/ of their titles on Steam. They can't self publish it because of that, and (just guessing) the self publishing costs in NA would cost a lot, let alone international costs.

I'm not doubting SO coming to PC. But not now. Maybe not even within the next year, as they have Ratchet and Slow Down Bull to work on. 2-3 years? To hype up SO2 being on XB1/PC? Likely.

Not that I care about it coming to PC. I'd double dip and gift it to friends. I love Insomniac's work.

I just wish people had a bit more proof than just 'don't believe the lies!!!' because all of those X1 > PC ports can be explained logically.

It seems like it is a thread called "Sunset Overdrive Coming to PC?"

with an ad that's been claimed a mistake by a member of the development team and the publisher, so now we're just discussing the possibility which basically makes this a port begging thread.

I don't get how that changes the fact that this thread is nothing but glorified port begging.

Not at all. People are upset that a game may come to a platform other than their own. That's being a console warrior.

Where am I getting upset? I'll admit that it's slightly irritating that almost every SO thread has turned into one just like this where people bring up PS4/PC but I don't give a fuck if it goes to PC or PS4. If it does, it does. But as of right now, there's no confirmation or anything to make one think it will so I don't see why it's still a prevalent and constant thing.

It's borderline port-begging but MS has indeed created a precedent for their exclusives going multi-plat (in this case PC) when MS doesn't own the IP.

I get that, but the ad has already been called a mistake by publisher/developer. what else is there to discuss besides the possibility and at that point, it's nothing but port begging.

It's debunked.
I think the thread has hence gone into questioning how much you can even trust developers talking about their ports.

If the mods don't find that a valid thread narrative, then perhaps they should close this. But otherwise I think it is fair to doubt anything devs say in light of all the hoodwinking that goes on around exclusivity, PC demos, CGI trailers, whatever.

Perhaps you're right. Then we should make a topic about the hoodwinking I mention above. I don't know about you, but I find all the advertising misdirection a load of bollocks.

Well you realize your actions are exactly why publishers aren't up front about these things.

Steamworks costs are free, as long as Insomniac doesn't release physical versions. Insomniac can go through Greenlight to get their titles up on Steam.

If it was such a thing or even if it was so obnoxious i bet the mods would close it, why do you care that this thread even exists?

Then contact a mod if this thread being opened upsets you. Since its still open mods probably realize its not a port begging thread.

While I wouldn't doubt the collective Steam base voting for the game on Greenlight, just seems a lot of effort to hope your game gets voted for on a broken shit like Greenlight.

If anything I would bet on Slow Down Bull being the game they want to greenlight/on Steam first. Or hell even Outernauts could get a steam port. THEN they could do SO.

Which is, again, 1-2 years away.

I really doubt they'd have to go through Greenlight.

I would give it a few. Several SO threads go just like this and it takes ages for them to eventually be closed.

Or I'll just keep posting in it.

From a moderator's perspective, this thread is perfectly acceptable. For example, port begging is defined as going into a thread about Bloodborne and derailing the thread demanding a PC version.
This thread is about the possibility of a port to PC so, by definition, cannot be considered port begging.

Valve has admitted the system is severely flawed for a long time now, they are working on a system of self publishing, but we all know how long it takes for Valve to move along.

Yep. I want Halo MCC but will probably wait until next year when MS eventually announces its coming to PC/Steam.

I would be fine with the console owners keeping the MCC, and Microsoft fixing up the existing Halo 1/2 ports and releasing those on Steam.

If they really want to throw us a bone, give us Halo 3/ODST.

They'd have to. I mean I can't see MS Studios publishing the game on PC as well when they don't even own the IP.

Well then either way, at this point titles are greenlit like no tomorrow so it would get through fast.

And this, yeah.

When you're console is technically inferior in almost every way (gaming wise at least), I'd say that exclusives are truly the only thing that would get people to choose yours over the competitor. So in this case, for X1, they really do matter. If the perception of "all Xbox games go to PC" continues to strengthen, it'll just be another blow that they really don't need. MS needs to get a hold on things and keep more than just Halo and Forza on Xbox only.

So selling extra Xbox live subscriptions and xbone ports to pc gamers who would never buy them otherwise is a blow?

It gives pc gamers options, U either in or out... Simple

And for new gamers wanting to join Xbox live and play xbone games... Either buy a xbone or buy a more expensive pc... Microsoft is eating either way

Its not as much about selling pieces of hardware anymore... Its about getting valuable customers who are going to spend regularly into the ecosystem

A customer with a xbone buying nothing but FIFA is not classed as a valuable customer. Microsoft is looking for the customer spending money on dlc, arcade games and digital game licenses across xbone, pc, phone, tablet... People fully in the ecosystem
