I'm three issues into Manhattan Projects now. This is absolutely fantastic. I'm really, really loving this. It's fun and interesting and engrossing and exceptionally well-written. And the art is really great too.
Tim, you haven't let me down.

Don't worry, gang. Given that it's been over three months between times when I actually felt like working on rendering anything, I'm sure that we'll be well into 2015 before any more "shit like this starts happening" again. Who knows, it might even be longer next time.

Working on the scars, GrandHarrier.

The negative responses confuse me. I thought it was great and not offensive in any way.
Really nice job with the expressions. And also, your previous stuff had a bit of the uncanny valley problem, but I didn't get that with this one at all.

So I've been trying to get ahold of someone at DCBS about the Batman Black & White Mignola Statue they have for preorder for a week now, and finally got a response.

.. Anyways I finally put in a preorder ... Whooos comin with me maan

I want to so badly... But I can't justify buying a statue right now...
Perhaps if I end up landing that job I'll splurge and buy this.

Since we all know Kipp is a terrible person and hated the Nightly News, I still highly recommend Pax Romana, the Red Wing, and A Red Mass for Mars. Pax Romana is especially great if you have any interest in history.

I'll definitely keep those in mind! Are they more similar in tone to Manhattan Projects than Nightly News?

Is Kipp ComicsGAF's Morlun?

What's a Morlun?

Oh geez. We're 250 posts shy of 10,000 posts, guys.
We're so close. We need this.

Double post for the cause.

Let me propose a question:

Your favorite book gets a sequel. Doesnt matter if it's revered or not--V For Vendetta 2 is happening. You have to pick between Nocenti on writing duties, or Greg Land tracing every page from a pornograpic source. I want to know who you pick, and what book gets a sequel.

I'll do my part!

Good man.

On a completely separate note, I'm pretty excited that it's finally Halloween, because that means tomorrow I can switch to the Mignola Hellboy avatar I decided on a couple weeks ago. Haha

EASY.
Space: Punisher 2.
Greg Land porn tracing all the way. It'd be absolutely perfect. I wouldn't want it any other way.
Actually, what the hell. I'll take Nocenti and Land. Nocenti's nonsense would be perfect for a Space: Punisher sequel.

Chill bro. I got this.

Morlun is the Spider-Verse villain no?

No idea. I haven't ever read a Spider-Man comic.

I think Year One has already had a sequel at some point, but for the sake of the exercise, I'd take Nocenti over Land any day.

Similar in the sense that they're more science fiction based, yeah. Manhattan Projects has a sense of irreverence that his other stuff doesn't, largely due to the cast all being based on real people and also just because it's funny.

And it's about time y'all start to show Nick Pitarra some love. He's easily my favorite active artist in the biz.

Manhattan Projects is the first book i haven't regretted pre-ordering 23 issues of without reading the first issue. I'm hoping East of West will be the second...

Don't be facetious. It's just not a good thing to have on your screen at work. Don't pretend like this is about anything else.

I'm allowed to be facetious, facile, and puerile, thankyouverymuch.

Would you have preferred "Your complaint is practically puritanical..." Because it is. That's not nudity by any reasonable definition. Implied nudity? Sure, but that's a bit of a stretch for complaint-worthy image posting. In this poster's opinion, anyway. A lot of images get posted in this thread that I wouldn't want on a work screen, nudity is rarely the issue.

>roll eyes<
whatever

i've been playing too much sunset to post in this thread anymore anyways

If someone saw that at work, they'd assume you're looking for nude pics of Harley.

What they don't know is that's more of a Saturday thing.

Say, did anybody read Rasputin? It made it into the featured list of the top post but I don't think I've heard anything...I bought it but I haven't actually had a chance to read it yet.

I'm hoping so too. I really want it to be good, because I love the premise and I really like Nick Dragotta.

Wouldn't worry about it.

Hahaha. Thanks.

I'd love to hear what you think when you do read it! It seems like it could be really cool.

I don't even have my phone with me at work, much less a computer. All you guys who can browse GAF at work are lucky.

Wasn't Fade Out #3 supposed to come out this week?

Where can I go to find out about delays or is it just kinda random and Twitter is what I should use?

Supposedly #4 will be coming out a week after #3 now but I doubt that...

for the entire series?

per issue, 5 issue mini, so $5. But at least it's all on sale, i mainly buy digital for minis that are all on sale....though looking at reviews of the last issue not everyone was thrilled with how the mini went. People here liked it in the beginning at least.

I did like it in the beginning. I bought all 5 physical. I think I'd like it digital to show people how good the art is.

Just read southern bastards #5 and i'm fuckin infuriated

10/10 issue but god dammit

I've been reading Manhattan Projects for a while now and I love every moment of it.

It's just so good

Whatever about the story in Ultimate Spider-Man (personally I love it) but the art is not getting nearly as much credit as it deserves. David Marquez and Justin Ponsor are doing really fantastic work monthly. The book is a delight to look at. It's a shame they didn't get these guys to draw the Ultimates book also.

Isnt Sarah Pinchelli working on the series anymore?

Before Before Watchmen. Gimme that Land all over my face.

The art is great but I couldn't tell you what the book will even be about after reading the first issue. I'll stick around for the first arc to find out, at least.

My Catwoman #35 came in the mail last night all bent up... I was so sad I didn't even read it. It's currently being flattened under a massive stack of trades, so hopefully I can salvage it and check it out this weekend.

Guys, could you recommend me some good, standalone TPBs that were published in the last two years? Something like Wanted - self-contained, awesome story :) Can be s-f, fantasy, superhero - doesn't matter. I just want to read some good comic book that is not some part of a longer series and ends with cliffhanger or requires to buy another TPB :)

Six Gun Gorilla is great

I also recommend Power Girl: Power Trip. It's technically part of a longer series but that trade contains every issue under that creative team and it's good fun!

Bloodspell : Black Canary and Zatanna

Not part of any story and is a one and done story.

Fantastic art too.

I'll second Power Trip.
