Ah, not on youtube yet as far as I can tell. Thanks for the headsup...did you remember Alex's main issues?

I only listened to a bit of it, but his main problem with the game is the technical issues it has. He was talking about how awful the framerate is.

The video should be up soon, they only do these livestreams for an hour.

holy fucking shit. He says Shay is the most interesting AC character ever, and this is the AC with the most story!?

goddayum. It's like Rogue is the complete opposite of Unity.

Unity; amazing graphics, boring main character and story.

Rogue; last gen graphics, awesome main character and story.

man.. this is confusing.

On the bright side, it's a safe bet that we will be getting next-gen versions of Rogue soon. I definitely can't wait for Black Flag 2... as a Templar.

Regarding brand damage...

No matter how buggy Unity is, the majority of the casual audience won't care anyway. They'll still buy it without reading reviews.

As a huge assassins creed fan who has and enjoys every game in the franchise, yes even 3, I feel very let down by this. Unity is a huge missed oportunity. Ubisoft really needs to take a hard look at this and respond accordingly.looks like I won't be buying this:(

Wow, everything about this seems massively disappointing.

Please just kill Assassin's Creed, Ubisoft, and start making Black Flag pirate-themed games. Despite it's flaws, AC4 was ridiculously fun. Give me more of that.

This is a complete overreaction based on one game reviewing worse than expected...

I hope they listen to you. Black Flag was fucking awesome.

So does this mean developers are now the gold farmers?

You pay for a game. You shouldn't pay around the game unless it's an expansion.

You've got to be fucking kidding me. -_-

Edge scores are going to start seeming generous. Feels like there has been a sea change in the way the enthusiast press reviews games in recent months.

Huh, alright. I'm actually somewhat happy that the made the chests more valuable, but that they had to include all those online/companion app shenanigans sounds pretty annoying.

I just ignore the yellow/blue chests. In fact I have no idea what I'm supposed to do with them, since the online didn't work at all when I tried using them. Still, they make the same noise as the regular or locked chests, and that can be annoying.
I just discovered that whole F2P element reading this thread in fact, that explains why the renovated stuff nets you so little every 20 minutes, and that's actually very very bad from Ubisoft if that's the explanation. Bad bad bad if that's the case, though I doubt we'll ever have a confirmation.

Thanks!

Should be just in time to accompany my 40GB download.

I don't think it's going to be that bad. I'll try and lock it to 30fps and lower things even more than people have been :(

-to the post below me, Yep, fuck that, I feel like that needs its own thread!

I think just about everyone was a fan of Assassin's Creed at one point in time, but it's just taken on many different forms over the last couple years.

reviews are kinda what I expected tbh it's usually like this when it's not a "numbered" title (apart from the one that will not be named)

Oh and guys little OT but if i were to buy an XBO digital code from the bundle pack in the US would it work on my UK machine?

You can still see some short term effects of this type of stuff. Look at COD Ghosts last year. Middling reviews, down sales, and lots of negativity toward the series. Advanced Warfare sounds like it's doing better but it's too soon to say whether there's long term damage there or not. So yeah, this stuff can matter.

What F2P element? You already paid for the game.

I'm gonna play it since I ordered it this morning. But I must say that I have seriously lowered my expectations due to the reviews I've read so far.

I'm so utterly disappointed in this game. I've only played about 30 minutes so far before work, but it was borderline unplayable with the framerate issues.

I had such high hopes for the first AC game "built for next gen". If any series lends itself to wowing with extra hardware power its the AC series with all of the architecture and whatnot. This game i just a huge let down.

Imagine buying a blu ray of some movie, and then having to use your phone mid-movie to download an app, in order to understand the backstory of a scene that is otherwise not explained to you. What a joke.

That's not a great analogy at all. those chests don't contain anything vital to the game/story.

It'd be more like watching a movie and using your phone to make the color of the text in the credits blue instead of white. It's completely skippable content. :\

After seeing those micro transactions, I am done with Ubisoft, disgusting!

what exactly do they do......pay real money to open chests? Because dear heavens...I'll just cancel my best buy copy, and only buy my little brother the AC bundle to turn around and sell the digital codes on here or ebay. These reviews only make me just want to get my little brother a standard X1 even if he doesn't get a free game with the console.

I'm not sure how Rogue could be better since it's on underpowered hardware.

Well, Rogue is essentially Black Flag 2 which ran fine last year. Unity has a refreshed (not completely new though) next-gen engine which seems to be filled to the brim with technical issues and graphics way to ambitious for what Ubi is actually capable of properly optimizing (like the huge crowds).

And besides, all Rogue reviews and impression videos I've seen so far have been good if not great. Of course both gameplay and setting aren't anything new as it remains a cheap way for Ubisoft to cash in on last-gen gamers with last-gen assets but if judged as an enourmous single-player DLC campaign for Black Flag it seems to be alot of fun.
