NPD Sales Results for October 2014 [Up3: All of Nintendo's 3DS million sellers]

No Alien Isolation? USA i am dissapoint. Put down the rinse / repeat franchises for a while and buy the damn risk taking new IP will you.
.
Colonial Marines destroyed the Alien brand for gamers. They had a tough mountain to climb to get back into their good graces.

I'm a lil sad of sports games selling the most... Those are the type of games that doesn't add anything new or attractive to the table yet they sell like crazy no matter If it's the same game as last year but only with a few enhancements. :( oh well.

The -$50 Xbox bundle offer just started so next month might be a different story.

If it is, then things might get more interesting month to month in the US (maybe).

If it's not a different story, then hopefully we once and for all stop hearing "this NPD is going to be interesting"

Surprising to see that The Evil Within did that well. The Destiny SKU rankings and Sunset not charting are somewhat interesting, but I suppose it's because bundles aren't included. Bayonetta 2 and DRIVECLUB didn't chart either as expected.

...Huh? Isn't that excuse given when something doesn't do well, and people hopelessly expect better next week/month?

It did 705K (with digital) in October. Smash isn't frontloaded like some games, but that's still a huge chunk. To move up in place next month is impressive to me.

usually when it's like a week, sure, but this was literally two days out of the first weekend plus an entire 'nother month. it probably had some decent word of mouth thanks to it being surprisingly playable for a portable party game (not a fighter)

Well i heard they are gonna announce something cool tomorrow so fingers crossed. People working on weather stuff are probably not coding away at network stuff anyway ya know.

I bet it's just an announcement for the Challenges and Online fix for next week.

Is it?

The VentureBeat quote says "That said, Bethesda still has to consider The Evil Within a success. It set a new record for the highest first-month sales for a release in the “survival horror” genre, according to the NPD."

I took that as highest first month for any survival horror game instead of for a new IP.

...Maybe that doesn't make any sense given Resident Evil.

Yeah, TEW can't have sold more than RE5 did.

Alien Isolation deserves a top spot. Hope it has some legs on PC with seasonal sales and the likes. Creative Assembly rebuild the IP from ruins and managed to create an excellent game.

Nice to see Smash so high =). Some interesting SKU ordering. Also, Just Dance didn't chart (does it usually during its launch month)?

Dance games have been on a decline for years. I looked at the charts for the last few years, and Just Dance apparently hasn't been in the top 10 since 2011.

I'm glad to see that the PS4 is #1 again this month, but I expect the xbone to take November. Next months NPD results are going to be exciting.

As a PS4 owner i really don't know why they keep selling, PSN sucks and they have no exclusives at all at the moment and I can't really see that many on the horizon either right now

I honestly want ps4 to stop selling a little, might give them a kick up the arse to sort PSN out and get some games out

Wow, people don't have comprehension skills sometimes.

SO bundles all sold out, no digital numbers. In order to top 10 it would have to beat all those games on one system vs the 4 systems multiplayform is on.

All this means is it didn't sell a huge amount of physical copies its first week. Game is amazing too

Still some at at least one Microsoft stores according to Major Nelson.

Shadow of Mordor is quite low. Thought that would have done better. Not that I feel it deserved to though but a popular license and good reviews should have helped it more.

They probably went Xbox exclusive under the assumption that MS wouldn't have faced the backlash that they did with XB1.

Microsoft financed the game. Remember they invest over 2 billion into new IPs. Sunset Overdrive was surely one of them. Too bad though, the games looks like a blast to play.

“October 2014 marks the first 12 months of sales for the Xbox One and PS4,” said Callahan. “After the first year, these consoles have had a great start as cumulative sales are currently over 70 percent higher than the combined first year totals of Xbox 360 and PS3.”

Can anyone provide cumulative sales of PS3 and XB360 first year so we can get cumulative sales of PS4 and XB1 to get numbers?
