Watch Da Birdie

I buy cakes for myself on my birthday it's not weird lots of people do it I bet
So we can know all secrets now right? (I realise there aren't many left)

I guess all we have left is surprise Trophies (pigs from Paper Mario 64), and any surprising musical inclusions...although I wouldn't be surprised if the new remixes are the ones unlockable from the start. IIRC, that's how it was in Brawl, bar the songs that are unlocked automatically when you get their stages.

lunar's actually lying because he knows the only duplicate cd is that one other m battle theme and he can't bear to share his pain

If I got two "Lockdown Battle Themes" in a row, I'd probably throw the game out a window and force the editors to give it a 0 out of 10.

Surprised that I have yet to see one review coming from the tourney scene regarding Smash. Some did get copies, right?

Anyway, regarding CDs, do they stay on the field longer? I remember in Brawl they just drop and goes away faster than any item on the field.

I revisited the Hunters soundtrack just to see what "Psycho Bits" could possibly be. It was a fruitless effort since the track titles don't seem to have official names, but I did come to the conclusion that Hunters had a shitty soundtrack. The entire OST is basically a collection of variations on one kinda bad leitmotif with a liberal sprinkling of the Prime theme so you don't run screaming from your DS. It is easily sub-Other M quality stuff.

So, uh, that's something to look forward to!

Gorea 2 was pretty nice, at least. Held back by the DS's sound hardware though.

This is wrong. I actually recently listened to both the entire Other M OST and the Hunters OST, and I'd have to go with Hunters. Sure, it's not good, but Other M is downright non-existent.

It's essentially the same theme as that used for the final Metroid Prime encounter, so it's just a surprisingly competent arrangement, not an original piece.

I wouldn't put in the same category as Other M, but more along the lines of Metroid 2 - mostly forgettable filler, a few decent arrangements, and a pretty good original menu theme, comparable in function to M2's tunnel theme. I fervently hope Psycho Bits is the latter.

When I think of terrible things that grabbed me during Other M, I don't think of the soundtrack for some reason. To Youtube!

EDIT: ooh, that is a good menu theme (Hunters)

Can anyone with the WiiU version/knows about it confirm if DACUS is gone there? It probably is, but with the little idiosyncrasies between the 3DS version and the WiiU version, I'm wondering if that was left intact for it.

It's the one terrible thing from Other M that's relatively easy to forget. Though one could argue that its barely-present nature merely allowed the mountains of shit surrounding it to burn all the brighter...

And then tell me how to DACUS.

For kicks, since there's not a single version of it on the web, I figured I should record a version of the original song the Culdcept arrangement was based on (originally I thought it was from Culdcept Second, but it's actually the version from Culdcept 3DS, which... would make sense, lol)

So, compare this to this

When you reach the Ridley theme and it just spruces up an already well known track in the series, then the OST ends immediately afterwards.

To be fair, it was Michael Bay's first foray into music composition.

I have an apology due to the Hunters arranger.

Can anyone explain to me what makes the Gamecube controller supposedly so great for Smash? Like, are there any actual advantages compared to modern Wii U controllers or is it just a nostalgia thing?

People have been playing on them for almost 15 years. They want what they're used to (self-included). I also think that the Gamecube's 8-directional stick and more resistive c-stick is better for the game, but that's probably just familiarity as well.

Most people grew up on it so it's familiar to them. Go with whatever you feel comfortable with.

Being wired (non Wavebird) is a big thing for competitive players. Some people think the form-factor of the controller is more comfortable and the feel of the buttons provides better feedback. There's also the octagon gate on the Gamecube thumbstick that gives you really good feedback on what direction you're actually pushing the thumbstick in as opposed to what you think you're pushing it in.

The Wii U Pro controller, if the 3DS configuration is anything to by, will likely be fine for most people. I could definitely play with it. But I think those are a few of the more obvious reasons people prefer the cube controller, it's why I do.

1. Wired, no chance for latency (all Wii U controllers are wireless even the Wii U Pro Controller, these have a chance to have some amount of input delay/lag esp. in a venue where there's going to be multiple Wii Us at tournaments).

2. Muscle memory transfers over

3. Placement of the C-stick is extremely important. I could, personally, never get used to or adjust to the right stick as a C-Stick.

4. Better feeling shape than the other controller options

2, 3 & 4 are more personal but #1 is important if you are going to be semi-serious about the game. Otherwise, there is no "advantage".

To me it's like playing Super Mario 64 with a 64 controller, it's meant to be played with a 64 controller.
Smash is meant to be play by a GameCube controller, but I'm sure the other controllers are fine.
the wii and nunchuck felt good to me and people hate that method.
