I'm extremely insecure with how much f2p mobile games are encroaching on Nintendo
Is this some sort of complex in-joke?

Uh, no.

We JUST had someone in a thread (I'd link it if I knew exactly which thread it was) talk about Nintendo's way of trying to make it appear their stock and supply of items is limited, whether its intentional or they really do have short production runs. Nintendo DOES have a slower pace when it comes to replenishing stock as well, I thought this was somewhat common knowledge?

I'm not really understanding your question?

Villager and Wii Fit Trainer are going to be rediculous limited stock. The hardest 2 of Wave 1 to aquire

Edit - forgot Marth as well. Also very difficult.

Do we know which other Amiibo are exclusive to other retailers yet? I know Shulk is exclusive to GameStop.....just wondering....

Nothing from the first or second waves are exclusive to any retailer. Some will be harder to get than other, and I can assure you that based on our allocations, it would not be wise to sleep on Marth or Wii Fit Trainer. Villager is likely to follow in their footsteps, too.

Why would they produce a lot of figures though? They're only compatible with the Wii U (for this year anyway) so that limits the market. They're not like Skylanders or Disney Infinity which are playable on everything.
A redundant question but just want to clarify that this means they are sold out online as well?
No, but you can't do pick up in store. You will have to have it shipped to you.

I straight up don't do pre orders. If I get fucked out of my merchandise day one, that's fine, but the pre order model has fucked my hobby far too much for me to support it. I'll get my Amiibos at my own place of work if we get any, or I'll try Target/Best Buy/Walmart etc.

Same way man.

next year these things will probably be like 1.99 each.
Can't see this taking off especially since it's attached to wii u which didn't take off either

I know supply throttling ups the demand, but ugh. The bigger effect of this is that it drives up the prices to crazy amounts in second hard markets, which they won't see a dime of.

It could also be a ploy from Gamestop to get you to reserve things more often. I doubt these things will be hard to find from the various other online/offline places you can acquire them.
They are official figures of everyone's favorite Nintendo characters. I wouldn'tbe surpirsed if they staid sold out for months, especially if they keep focusing on new amiibos every month or two. There are 27 figures between now and February, thats alot, and I think its gonna be spread thin.

Hope I'm wrong, especially since I have no money until December, but I have a verybad feeling I'll be SOL for some figures. (Good for Nintendo if these go crazy tho.)

We have plenty of stock of all the figures at my store. They come in a box of 8 or 12 (can't remember) and we seem to have two boxes of each. So...

Mainly cause of the many current and proposed upcoming games that will support the Amiibo. I'm definitely not expecting Skylander/Disney Infinity type production runs that are consistent and plentiful, but perhaps they'll run longer than usual Nintendo product runs due to the many future game implementations they seem to have in store for them. Plus I think they are trying to use Amiibo on top of the larger titles they released and are planning to release to try to breath some extra life into Wii U's sales, so it would make sense to keep them in circulation a bit longer.

Of course all this is subjective, cause it'll really come down to the retailers and actual sales of the Amiibo and what the retailers are willing to keep/shell out shelf space for

The print runs will be small enough that the market of collectors will keep them sold out even if it turns out no one gives a damn about using them in games. They'll also work with the next model of 3ds (or the old one via a reader peripheral) so that's a massive boost to potential userbase.

They'll never wind up that cheap.

did you bump your own thread after 3 minutes of no replies with a period

holy shit

Normally I don't but I bumped it cause it was sliding to page 2 and 3 pretty fast, and I just wanted to make sure folks seen it since its somewhat of a big topic to some. GAF can move pretty quick as far as new threads, replies and such...it can be easy to have a thread swept away sometimes

At the very least, I would pre-order the Shulk one if that is one you want. I am almost considering pre-ordering a second one because, if the Wii game is any indication, it will appreciate in value.
Does anyone know if you can preorder shulk instore? I can't really do it online atm.

Blatantly because of all the collectors having to buy two so they can keep one in the packaging.

Aostia

El Capitan Todd
Is there any indication that any of these will actually go out of print in the foreseeable future?

they said that some minor character will have minor disyribution, plus the retailers exclusive will be of course limited too

Michelangelo painted the Sistine Chapel. Yabuki turned off voice chat in Mario Kart races. True artists of their time.
Are Amiibos region free?

If they are like Disney Infinity figures, people will be able to use them without even taking them out of the box, haha.

For toys, I think most would prefer the ability to cherry pick the ones in store, rather than relying on Amazon to do it for them.

Are you talking about the quality of the box? Because you're supposed to rip them out and put them on the controller. I don't think many are concerned with what condition the box comes in.

I ordered a Kirby, just for novelty's sake. If I manage to snag one, cool. If not, I don't care too much either way.
