The more I listen to the Tropical Freeze credits them the more I think that despite the Stickerbush Sax being one hell of a tribute to the series and a fan pleaser it's the jazzed out Wing Ding mix kicking things off that really represents Tropical Freeze itself, a more upbeat swinging tune flowing with energy, together it's a potent combo of past and present. Usually I find DK credit themes to lack a bit (usually too short to stretch out over the loooong enemy parade and credits) so Tropical Freeze was actually a surprise in that respect, in this case the credits genuinely weren't long enough!
Oh yeah my favourites, well
Super Mario Galaxy 2 Staff Credits
It's SMG2 basically doing what SMG1 did, layer the grandiosity on the games main theme (basically both Sky Station tracks lumped together) and then steer it into the realm of Gusty Garden because everyone loves that theme and its arrival is like an explosion of joy in ones heart.
Kirby Superstar: Milky Way Wishes Staff Roll
Manages to simultaneously catch that ending vibe while retaining the ever jubilant and peppy stylings of Kirby music, the backing is infectious, the transition into Green Greens at the end is just great and in a game with multiple little endings each with their own theme you hear this one and know that now it really is
the end.
Mother 3: 16 Melodies
I didn't know the GBA was capable of something like this, while I'm sure that the first half would be a nostalgia blast had I played Earthbound first (PAL region problems) it still manages to evoke such a sensation. But really I'm here because I'm a sucker for Mother 3's Love theme which reaches its peak during this staff roll.
No
wind waker yet?. I'm dissapointed Gaf.
The title theme for Wind Waker was always begging for a greater mix, it took until the credits but we got it and then some, I love how it mixes up the looping of the track in various ways weaving in the Great Sea, Zelda's Lullaby and Aryll's theme while still retaining the Wind Waker theme throughout.
Bastion's has got to be the best in recent memory.
Speaking of tracks being weaved together the fact this takes two lyrical tracks and successfully combines them with the result sounding great was quite a feat. Something about the increased instrumentation compared to the intentionally minimalist style of the standard two themes also hits that ending note, it's almost like hearing it complete as a whole.
