Can't. Breathe. So pissed I wasn't here when this show was airing. Would've loved to see the responses from those who were watching it. :(

Crayon Shin-Chan Movie 22 (2014) - first 20 minutes

This movie seems like it could be pretty fun. The first-person sequence after Shin-chan's dad gets out of the beauty parlor was well done, lots of neat background animation. There's some potential in exploring the whole concept of fatherhood too. It's too bad no one will sub this. It's probably Kazuki Nakashima's better work of the year!

Oh yeah, and I really liked the stop-motion intro. I'm particularly fond of stop-motion, and there was some neat stuff done with the clay.

What I have learned from this episode: Yuuka is incredibly talented in the ways of BDSM. :O

With all the praise horror movies and video games from Japan get, you'd think there would be some pretty amazing horror anime. I mean Ghost Hunt [?] was decent, but it just felt like a narrative version of the fake ghost hunter shows in western reality shows.
Horror you say?
Higurashi no Naku* and Shiki are the best you will find.

*Don't let the terrible artstyle trick you.

It's been a long time since an anime had the ability to make me legitimately laugh out loud, but this episode did it. The "Poorara" skit (
Urara broke the toilet handle by accident and can't flush her business
) had me wiping tears from my eyes.

This show. So good.

Just finishing up Fate / Zero and watched the fight between Iskandar and Gilgamesh. Rider has become one of my most liked anime characters ever. This whole series I've not really found myself caring about Saber and Kiritsugu, and much more interested in Rider and Waver.

can i watch fate/kaleid liner prisma illya without finishing either f/sn or f/z?

The stories are mostly standalone. You'll get more out of it having watched or read both, though. They do some clever things with referencing the regular universe.
Prisma Illya itself is more or less an AU if Kiritsugu decided to not go ahead with the Grail War in Fate/Zero and this becomes a plot point, even if you need not have seen it to get it.

Kokoro Connect - 10

So finally the field trip that they've been cock teasing us about over the last couple episodes has finally started ... and it was kind of a let down!

I really don't think they need the plot device that they're currently using in order to tell the stories that they're telling. If anything, in hindsight, it seems just a bit lazy because instead of creating scenarios that naturally progress out of events happening in the story you can just point to Kung-Fu Ninja Plant Aliens as the crux for why the "drama" in this show makes sense in the context that they're presenting it. "Unlocking desires" is the ultimate tool for making your characters do decidedly uncharacteristic things without building any sort of situation in which it'd actually make sense for them to do that. It's established that you can even go out of your way to completely ignore the impulses you're getting when its inconvenient for the plot for them to do something truly stupid. And really it's just highlighting how pointless the entire endeavor of "unlocking hidden desires" really was when all was said and done. Nothing significant actually happened here that wouldn't or couldn't have happened otherwise. Even the alluded to intervention from Kung-Fu Ninja Plant Aliens in the last episode amounted to absolutely fuck all when everything was said and done.

Inaba is best girl though.

Started watching a couple of animes after resubscribing to Crunchyroll....

From the New World- Awesome show that has me utterly fascinated. Visuals are really pleasant to look at and the mystery has me wanting to watch more and more. Only 6 episodes in but I am keeping with it for sure. This one's damn good and intelligent.

Parasyte -Maxim- First episode impressed the heck out me. Violence is brutal. Animation quality is off the hook. Kinda funny too.

Akame Ga Kill- WTF. I heard this one was popular, but only two episodes in I am trying to figure out what the hell kind of show I am watching. The goofy humor mixed with grotesque depravity is creating a dissonance that I am not sure I can handle. It feels really strange. I will keep watching to see if it grows on me because I love revenge stories and those about people trying to stand against tyranny.

True that.

apparently onii-sama out sold SAO this year for LNs

Yeah it did, it got the anime bump for all the volumes, strictly counting new volumes it's still 100k per volume off SAO. All those 100k volumes now being 200k add up, same reason Tokyo Ghoul outsold Naruto when it comes to manga even though Naruto is a million seller and TG can't crack 700k.

Was this posted?

http://www.janica.jp/course/digital/actf2014.html

JAniCA and Japanese providers of digital creation tools (Wacom and Celsys) get together to hold the ACTF (Animation Creative Technology Forum) on February 14th 2015.

Supposedly geared towards going over the current state of digital production, and how it can change to further assist creative endeavours.

Personally, I'm more interested in what impact this will have on Wacom than the other way around.

There's also a DVD boxset with the original TV broadcast versions (+ TV broadcast Death/Rebirth), if you really want to shell out money.

Neon Genesis Evangelion TV + original movies finally getting a bluray release - Summer 2015. http://www.evangelion.co.jp/ng.html
Give me.

First time hearing about Revival of Evangelion.
Wikipedia said:
Another version titled Revival of Evangelion was released on March 8, 1998 and is a unification of the movies Death(True)2 (a further edit of Death(true), with several minor edits) and The End of Evangelion. It is considered the final form of the Evangelion movies, which had been released in several forms prior to Revival. The two were released on the ninth and tenth discs of the Renewal of Evangelion box set with the labels of Revival of Evangelion and Evangelion – The Feature Film.

Cross Ange - 09

I was already thrown for a loop regarding
Hilda's
situation but to see
Sylvia try and stab her sister
just brought this show to a whole new level of fucked up.
Lol, this show. I can't fathom really any of it, from the asinine premise to the characters' actions. I mean, Christ,
the brother hates his sister so much that he outs her as a Norma in public and gets her sent to some secret dragon hunting death unit which is presumably a death sentence anyways and a life of hell until then then uses her love of family to get her to break out of said place just to lock her up again and presumably have her executed? Why?

That said, I'm willing to bet that Sylvia
is actually still on Ange's side but doesn't feel it's time to make her move yet, so wait for the triple cross, calling it here folks.

Anyways, I started watching Rage of Bahamut: Genesis and kinda like it. I think using historical and known mythological names in a totally whack fantasy setting is a lazy way out of getting your character's across though, there's no reason that Joan of Arc should be there but somehow she is and since they use her name we can more or less get an idea of her role despite it clearly not able to be our Joan of Arc and having Zeus be over angels and shit, I don't even, whatever. Lazy author. I like the character interactions between everyone though,

I am disappointed by Amira's early costume change as she looked kinda bad ass in her first get-up, like a demon chick scarecrow.

Madan no Ou to Vanadis - 09

Alright episode , red bear finally appears, some backstory here and there PLUS some fighting by Elen. They covered the essentials and the episode was kinda alright.
I'm actually not sure how many episodes are left..can they cover the civil war in full with 3 or 4 episodes ? That's asking for a lot.. please don't go anime original filler ending , please don't...
I think this truncated format is really killing things for me, there's no sense of distance or time everyone just frakking pops up where they need to, we have massive scenery changes with desert canyons, snow peaks, lush forests, all these places should have some real distance between them but the show just breezes from setting to setting and these large armies that should take days or weeks to arrive at their destinations just show up out of nowhere just to move crap forward. Word reaches the other characters in different places too timely and since everyone's helping out the main character just for his penis it makes me feel bad for all the other nice guys in those lands that were nice and probably competent in some way in battle but those sad, lonely horny war maidens just never looked their way.
Full Metal Panic! - 12

In which Sousuke defeats a robot ten times the size of his own by shooting it in just the right spot of its groin.

Also,
Tessa tells Chidori of her love for Sousuke. Well...that should certainly lead to interesting places for this show!
Tessa sucks. To this day I still wish someone would launch her out of a torpedo tube while the sub was submerged.

Clannad is also one of the most popular VNs of all time.

I can't think of anything more damning of the medium.

Damn right.

I think the whole wifu and self-insert, wish-fulfillment MCs play a large role in that. People actually get really attached to these characters at which point they turn off all critical thinking, if they had any to begin with considering their admiration for, e.g. in Clannad, mentally underdeveloped damsels.

I'm also kinda hoping that a lot of the fans were rather young when they first read these VNs and unaware how terrible these girl-fixer MCs and the writing in general are. On top of that it may have been their first VN or 'feels trip' and thus left an especially strong impression?

The medium is dead anyway, replaced by pseudo one like Persona game.
