Ok guys.
Playing through Dark Souls for the first time in over 3 years... Done with Anor Londo's beginning and trying to figure out what I should tackle next. Take Four Kings off the list... they're being saved for next to last, my SL is only about 48. The plan is to take out everything else > Four Kings > Artorias of the Abyss, I think.
Which leaves me sitting with these choices:
1. Painted World [leaning toward this]
2. Library and handle Seath
3. Ceaseless Discharge and all the fun through Lost Izalith and Bed of Chaos
4. Continue through the Tomb of Giants and fuck up Nito (sorta waiting on this as I still need to farm about 3 eyes of death from the Basilisks).
Oh, and at some point in there, I need to fuck up Gwyndolin... that should probably wait til after 1. though, In case I farm souvenirs of reprisal to level up the dark moon covenant.

Before I joined Gaf I had to battle with my ISP and with Microsoft for a year to have my old email reactivated, it was a hassle but I really wanted to be a part of NeoGaf.
Sometime after I got accepted as a junior I started dabbling in the community area as well but only lurking and to be honest my first participations on a Steam thread was due to a no a lurker giveaway. I didn't just spam but I made sure to try an be active, that actually helped me stop being a lurker and start being a regular attendee and engaging with others.
Some of you might have noticed (in all honesty I doubt anyone has xD) that I stick around for long periods at a time or that in Tue other hand I can be gone for long periods as well. I have several chronic diseases that tbh are kinda screwing up my life but you guys help me bear through the day.
Sometime ago I promised a small guide for Rogue Legacy and to this day I feel guilty because I haven't delivered, there's reasons: I tend to be perfectionist, I realised I was being biased regarding characters and builds so I wanted to redo that, I realised I was being too specific in my advice and I want the reader (you) to be able to play their own way and not just as I tell him so I scraped the whole thing and probably the most important my diseases were keeping me in bed so I didn't and don't have access to the computer.
I decided to buy a keyboard for my tablet so that I can finish it asap so please look forward to it! (queue Square Enid image xD)
That helped me realise that over the short time I've been with you I've really grown attached to this community (some more than others as it is to be expected).
I just want to say thank you, thank you for being there and thank you for allowing me to be a part of it. I can only hope to be a positive element of the community and that someday I can give back what you've given to me =)

It's definitely very pretty... some of the "puzzle" design is a bit wonky though. I liked the overall story too. The ending was great, I thought. That "thing" they added in the achievement patch wasn't cool though. They put up a "klei-like" rant against achievements but say they just need to be done right and then when they patch them in, they put in this easter egg that basically exemplifies everything they ranted about. LOL

I honestly didn't even know you could manually block individuals when using ModBot, so I learned something in this weird turn of events (which I missed while hanging out with the family). I giggled when I saw myself on the list (#128).

Take on the Painted world first. As its very easy + it has nice winter snowy theme to it.
Leave Izalith and that whole demon ruins section for last because it has several boss fights thrown at you which add great pacing right before the ending of the game.

They need to make a mod where the more you beat a character up the more clothes they lose ala Fighting Vipers.

It follows a similar Metroidvania-lite formula including handholding with clues leading you to the right direction, so if you're in the genre strictly for exploration it honestly may not be one of the better examples to hop into. As far as I know no way to disable them either, but I haven't taken a good look at the Options menus to tell you with absolutely certainty. There are some collectibles to find if you deviate from the obvious path (namely gallery goodies and bundles of gold for upgrade purchases that are also tucked away) but it's not that pressing of a motivation admittedly.
However, the platforming having a nice, smooth flow to it on top of a decent difficulty curve and the enemy obstacles (be it mass bullets or the bosses) generally being fun to figure out or deal with kept Outland very enjoyable for me, and it doesn't outstay its welcome with its relative short length. Fairly focused game with very little distractions - such as Guacamelee's cutscenes or its dialogues when finding a new ability - where pacing ends up being the victim, even if it does take approximately an hour until you've been gradually eased into utilizing both polarities. That's where Outland becomes more interesting, but by no means did it feel like a slog to me. There's also an Arcade Mode after beating the game where you can aim for highscores under a time restriction if you haven't had enough yet and while it isn't a meaty game in terms of content, Housemarque at least made sure that what's there isn't actually an absolute walk in the park, includes sufficient variety and has its own distinct style that'll (hopefully) be expanded upon in the future.
