Can we talk about how insane 2015 is going to be for gaming?

I mean, yeah, some of it is because a lot of games got pushed back to 2015 (looking at you, Witcher 3 and Batman), but sweet mother Teresa on the hood of a Mercedes-benz, 2015 could be (assuming we don't get more delays) the best year in gaming of the last decade.

Just off the top of my head, here's what we are getting in 2015.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (CD Projekt RED/PS4-XB1-PC)

Just Cause 3 (Avalanche Studio/PS4-XB1-PC)
Resident Evil: Revelations 2 (Capcom/PS3-PS4-PSV-XB360-XB1-PC)
Quantum Break (Remedy Entertainment/XB1)
Yoshi's Wooly World (Good Feel Inc./Wii U)
Kirby and the Rainbow Curse (HAL Laboratory/Wii U)

Tearaway Unfolded (Media Molecule/PS4)
Ratchet and Clank Redux (Insomniac/PS4)

Firewatch (Campo Santo/PC)
Overwatch (Blizzard/PC)
StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void (Blizzard/PC)
Pillars of Eternity (Obsidian/PC)
Assassin's Creed: Victory (Ubisoft/PS4-XB1-PC)
Yakuza 5 (Sega/PS3)
Mortal Kombat X (Netherealms/PS4-XB1-PC)
Tales of Zestiria (Namco Bandai/PS3)
Final Fantasy Type-0 HD (Square-Enix/PS4-XB1)
Final Fantasy XV: Episode Duscae (Square-Enix/PS4-XB1)
Codename S.T.E.A.M (Intelligent System/3DS)
Splatoon (Nintendo/Wii U)
Rise of the Tomb Raider (Crystal Dynamics/XB360-XB1 in 2015, PS4-PC Later?)
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Heavensward (Square-Enix/PS3-PS4-PC)
Dying Light (TechLand/PS4-XB1-PC)
Dead Island 2 (Yager Development/PS4-XB1-PC)
DmC: Definitive Edition (Ninja Theory/PS4-XB1-PC)
Devil May Cry 4: Vergil Special Edition (Capcom/PS4-XB1-PC)
Grim Fandango HD (Double Fine/PS4-PSV-PC)

The Witness (Thekla, Inc./PS4-PC)
Disgaea 5 (Nippon Ichi Software/PS4)

Ghost Song (Matt White/PC)
Dragon Ball: Xenoverse (Namco Bandai/PS4-XB1-PC-PS3-XB360)
Battlefield: Hardline (Visceral/PS4-XB1-PC)

And those are the biggest I can think of, not even digging into all the Indie craziness going on like Hotline Miami 2, Adr1ft, etc. And the games not announced yet. There's also re-releases like Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin.

Obviously, some of them could be disappointments or broken messes (God knows we got those a plenty in 2014), or delayed to 2016, but there's still plenty of games to make this an insane year.

And hey, while Final Fantasy XV is not sure to be released in 2015 (I mean, this is Final Fantasy XV after all), we're gonna at least play a part of it soon.

The Division is by far the biggest for me. Holy crap if that game lets me down I don't know what I'm gonna do...probably keep gaming like nothing happened, but still.

Of that list I'm particularly excited for,

Bloodborne
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
The Legend of Zelda Wii U
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Persona 5
Resident Evil: Revelations 2

Also the re-release of the GameCube masterpiece Resident Evil.

Star Fox
Zelda U
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Majora's Mask 3D
Persona 5
Witcher 3
Metal Gear Solid V

Looks like it will be a good year for my Wii U and PC.

curious how many of them will be broke at launch though. 2014 has really dampered my interest in $60 games outside of nintendo stuff.

hope these companies pull their shit together, including the system holders to actually test the shit before giving the green light.

You forgot Starfox, Yoshi's Woolly World, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, Splatoon, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, Tearaway Unfolded and Ratchet & Clank.

Zelda and Xeno won't let me rest.

2 Zeldas this year, one handheld and the other console, has that happened before? My god Dinosaurs and Mechs with the gameplay loop of Xenoblade and 5 times bigger world with even more vertical traversal?

That lets you transform into a tank? I must file down my remaining backlog so that I can dedicate 100% of my attention on these.

Wasn't this year supposed to be insane, too? In a good way I mean.

I'm not assuming anything until these games are actually out.

Honestly, I'm more excited to see which ones will be massive disappointments. But that's really mean spirited. It's just, this year seemed to have a lot.

Insane in the membrane.

Lots of good games I want to play. But I still need a PS4 to play Persona 5 and FFXV :[

I'm covered for Wii U games at least.

It was, we got Shadowrun: Dragonfall, Divinity Original Sin, Might and Magic X, Legend of Grimlock 2, Wasteland 2 and Dragon Age: Inquisition in the same year. If you were an RPG fan 2014 was legendary.

2015 looks solid, I expect a bunch of those to get bumped to 2016 though.

GTA V PC
Evolve
Project Cars
Rainbow Six
Phantom Pain
Batman

That would do me fine.

Starwars Battlefront I want to see for sure.

I feel like there is a thread like this every year. Am I wrong?

Every year we have great games, terrible games, huge upsets, and major surprises. I don't think 2015 will be much different. Half the games on your list will end up being huge disappointments, while others you haven't even heard of will take your breath away.

2011 (OoT3D and SS) & 2013 (ALBW and WWHD). I thought that this would be a pattern at this point :p

What console Zelda will they re-make in 2017 to go along a new handheld Zelda?

Among the list, besides getting pretty much every Wii U and 3DS game on that list, Battlefront and Halo 5 are the only non-nintendo games I plan on getting. So not a huge year for me.

Really excited for next year. 2014 while having a few nice games, was massively disappointing overall, filled with hyped up flops and the best games being remasters.

But I'm not into RPGs...

Beyond that, the games I was most interested in got delayed (Witcher 3, Arkham Knight), didn't work (Halo MCC), or completely lost me once I saw reviews and post-launch impressions/gameplay (Destiny, Watch_Dogs). Ironically, Shadow of Mordor was the best AAA game I played this year, and I completely ignored it until after it came out and got great buzz. And then on top of that we got Gamergate...ugh.

I think I'm just gonna hedge my bets this year and see what happens.

Persona 5 is the one game that makes 2015 all worth it.

I've been waiting patiently for a new Persona game for more than 6 years now.

Xenoblade Chronicles X
Ratchet and Clank Redux
Star Fox Wii U
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D
Tales of Zestiria
Final Fantasy XV: Episode Duscae
Paper Mario Wii U (?)

I'm only interested in these games so far. I might try out Witcher 3 and Dark Souls 2 once I try out their previous installments. Maybe Yakuza 5 as well.

I fear for Zelda Wii U, as I don't know if it'll be a 50/50 shot if I'll like or hate this game like Skyward Sword.

I highly doubt that half of those will be done by 2015.

Also that list only has 4 games that are guaranteed to be great.

Off that list:

Bloodborne
The Order: 1886
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
The Legend of Zelda Wii U
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Persona 5
No Man's Sky
Yakuza 5
Splatoon

Are the ones I'm looking forward to the most. I'd put Final Fantasy XV there but it's not likely to be out in 2015

My most anticipated release next year is Mario Kart DLC Pack 2. Mario Kart 8 will officially become the GOAT racer if the DLC has a Super Mario 3D World stage in the vein of Mount Wario.
