Holy crap Nolan is interviewing them? Guy is an absolute beast at arguing, I saw The Nolan Show live in October, its a very surreal experience.

(Anyone who live near Belfast I would highly recommend it for a free night of entertainment)

I thought it was you that said a mod should change the titlle to XBL being up. I was just saying its not. It is for some like PSN is for me and 15 of my friends list. That doesnt mean PSN is back up. XBL may be doing better but Its not up and running yet.

Again, speaking as a customer, I'd hope Sony of all companies do not think this way and investigate. I'd be seriously surprised if this wasn't the case.

I'd much rather they be thorough than rush to placate gamers.

Listening to that BBC interview, this guys actually think they are hacking Sony and Microsoft? I thought DDos wasn't hacking or are they doing something more?

See... while hacking itself can lead to a job... as long as you don't do damage and immediately make the company aware... doing a DDOS during prime usage time for hours on hours will get you nothing but jail time

Hire them for a DDoS attack??? Obviously a cover-up. They did this for the schadenfreude, plain and simple. There's no ulterior motive, there's no moralistic light to it. They went on BBC and spread some BS no one will buy to gain more publicity. Idiots to the very end.

True, but I was able to log into Live last night and use my stuff. My brand new Xmas PS4 is currently a paperweight even as of 10min ago, while Xbox Live I was able to connect to friends and it seems to be functioning normal as of 30min ago for me.

I am not sure what MS is doing that Sony is not doing. As a consumer and new (use to own) PS4 owner as of Xmas, I can't log in, I can't update my game (Drive Club) etc. Right now Live is working, so something else perhaps is causing Sony additional issues that are not effecting Xbox Live?

There is no evidence showing they have hacked anything. He's just talking the talk. And yes DDos/Dos isn't hacking.

To people comparing the companies. I wonder if it is impossible that the microsoft ddos attacks stopped whereas the Sony attacks did not. Regardless of Kim's actions and the words of the people who would do this in the first place.

Being able to buy airtime on a botnet and telling it to attack a target, does not make you a security specialist. I'm seriously starting to wonder if you're for real, or just trolling.

My thoughts exactly. He just incriminated himself. A simple "I was only joking" isn't going to suffice at this point.

My problem is this. Everybody says its just a DDoS attack, its not that hard to do these guys arent skilled hackers. Thats fine and all, but if its so easy to do how come nobody has done it to them? If that "finest squad" group is real, they have already released everybodys information including IP addresses. How have these guys not had a DDoS attack on themselves? Am I missing something? Im not sure its why im asking.

I've never heard of Stephen Nolan before, but he was stellar in this interview. Loved every minute he spoke and called these guys on their B.S.

Please look for the thread on GAF that explains what a DDoS is. You can't just do it back.

They did have a ddos attack on their server by finest unfortunately they just bought a new server and continued on.
